The best offers are basically in for both machado and harper. But with both phillies and white sox, there is no threat to them settling elsewhere. So for Lozano and Boras, they don't really have much to gain by signing now and may have something to gain by waiting and the teams getting impatient. So it will go on for more time, Lozano will come back with the serious counter offer, the remaining 5% or so of the contract will be finalized and it will be over. I'm incredibly confident the white sox will get machado and phillies harper, unless machado really does something unexpected like signing a 1-2 year 80 million contract. (or 1 year 40 mill)

True, and these are the types of signings otherwise prudent owners sometimes get enticed into (most successfully by Boras) edit: lol wrong word choice hopefully nobody quoted.

He's likely to be jimenez'd and be up in mid April. Really good 1b prospect.

And the worst part, Hahn and co will extend incredibly long-winded answers to those questions despite not saying anything and run out the clock.

I figured after Callis tweeted out asking if the hype surrounding VGJ has undercut the potential impact of a bat like jimenez. I think even I forget sometimes how good this guys is supposed to be.

I wouldn't get too worked up over what Renteria says. He's not the mouthpiece for FO moves, and he's gonna be asked a bunch of questions about something unresolved and he can't answer much on. So "it's exciting to be involved" is what you are gonna get.

If they signed Manny, they'd have Todd Frazier (3b), amed Rosario (ss), Jed Lowrie (2b), Alonso 1b, JD Davis (3b/1b/of), Dom Smith (1b/of), Robinson Cano (2b/3b?). Now, you can trade Frazier and Dom smith, but even then you are pretty overinflated.

The As may not win 97 but they have some really awesome prospects coming up and some that already arrived. They also have a payroll this year 13 million less than ours but will almost certainly destroy us in the standings. For some reason they don't feel the need to add herrerras, colomes and nova, which may combine for like 2 WAR, for 23 million.

I get why they are there, I'm very skeptical of the value of this set of relievers. I'm not sure of the currency they provide from a trade standpoint, they are kind of a nuisance for the 40 man soon, and so far when they have come up I've been less than impressed. That our "depth" is being stood up on the backs of relievers at age appropriate levels doing well makes me nervous.

Exactly. They don't draft many high schoolers, never signed that many intl players. Maybe it's an admission they are terrible at it, but we are seeing that the higher floors of these college picks isn't that inspiring. Most of all though, any set backs injury wise just seem debilitating. We'll see if the college reliever stuff pays off. I doubt it.

I don't know, at some point Robert needs to prove his ranking by staying on the field. I mentioned in another post how it feels like there is so little momentum with our prospects. Few are surprisingly pushing the core forward or adding to it, they just are what they were and are either falling off (hansen) or being caught up to by better prospects (collins/rutherford)
