  1. There are not multiple Pollack, Pollock or Pawlucks that were signed recently, I think we are okay everyone. We all know what you are saying.
  2. No, I'm saying pointing it out is stupid. Everyone knows who everyone is talking about, it is a pain to edit on the phone, and it quite literally changes it from what people originally typed.
  3. No I agree, a few pages back I said Friedman wasn't one to back himself into a corner.
  4. God this is so stupid. People type on their phones, or in a hurry, and autocorrect is everywhere.
  5. Well, would those players accept being signed in their 33-36 seasons at 12-15million per? I think teams would extend that.
  6. I think it is a head nod to the difficulty of the harpchado negotiations. Contracts have been turned on their heads the last two years as agents worked to squeeze more money out of players that performed while guaranteeing the highest possible floor on market. It's incredibly difficult to even say so and so is signed for 4 for 50, because it's like a choose your own adventure contract.
  7. FTR, my impression of friedman is he would not back himself into a corner like this. I wouldn't be surprised if they still keep pederson if they don't like deals and just somehow make 30 legit mlb players work like they do every year.
  8. The sox were lucky enough to quash reporting on a deal consummated at like midnight for about 10 hours (jimenez trade). The idea that they can quash a completed deal for days that would have approval through the commissioners office, two teams involved and agents is not believable.
  9. I'm gonna guess no other team offered pollock that 5th year.
  10. yeah yeah, i know you are all just gonna post in pederson thread.
  11. Right, he has one of the best power tools in the org, if he continues to develop the hit tool, along with that prototypical RF arm, he is a hands down mlb rf regular.
  12. That entire AAA list essentially. Adams, guerrero, stephens, banuelos, paulino, whomever. That was (3/5s of it anyway) a group that 2 years ago everyone would have thought a 5th starter could be made out of, with the possible exception of stephens, they've all stalled. Well, last year to see if it's possible they are more than meets the eye. edit: I was definitely remembering ricardo pinto not paulino, pinto was released I guess.
  13. The sox would be greatly bolstered by turning one of their mid level sp projects into a ml regular. This is the last year to try that out. They supposedly still have an excellent pitching coach, let him coach.
  14. But I don't just want to see movement by default, I want the next group in the 5-15 to be as good as this group was in the 5-15, and that is entirely possible considering the draft positioning, focus and resources that the sox should have.
  15. Nice list, going to beat a dead horse, there was a frustrating lack of exciting upward movement in those lists, with the down trends more noticeable. The two additions to this list (that I remember) are Madrigal and Walker, the top two picks of a team that picked 4th overall, with walker especially basically there because of draft positioning. Really need either the maturity of some of the 15-30 prospects to manifest in monster numbers this year and work into the top 15 (especially pitchers!) or some of the raw tools of some of the younger guys (sosa, bush, nunez, delgado, weaver, maldanado, curbelo) finally vaulting them forward as more than just potential.
  16. Yeah you are already seeing that for non-manny/bryce players, I don't see that as the case for manny/bryce.
  17. I don't think I'm saying anything interesting but you are right that this will drag on imo. My thoughts since last week are that basically the market is set. The best offers are basically in for both machado and harper. But with both phillies and white sox, there is no threat to them settling elsewhere. So for Lozano and Boras, they don't really have much to gain by signing now and may have something to gain by waiting and the teams getting impatient. So it will go on for more time, Lozano will come back with the serious counter offer, the remaining 5% or so of the contract will be finalized and it will be over. I'm incredibly confident the white sox will get machado and phillies harper, unless machado really does something unexpected like signing a 1-2 year 80 million contract. (or 1 year 40 mill)
  18. True, and these are the types of signings otherwise prudent owners sometimes get enticed into (most successfully by Boras) edit: lol wrong word choice hopefully nobody quoted.
  19. He's likely to be jimenez'd and be up in mid April. Really good 1b prospect.
  20. And the worst part, Hahn and co will extend incredibly long-winded answers to those questions despite not saying anything and run out the clock.
  21. I figured after Callis tweeted out asking if the hype surrounding VGJ has undercut the potential impact of a bat like jimenez. I think even I forget sometimes how good this guys is supposed to be.
