  1. One thing I think is worth mentioning re: Manny is every oriole fan I’ve known loves him. Maybe it’s a poor sample.
  2. I’ve said it before but I really really love this framing of Yankees getting manny just because DiDi is out for half the season.
  3. That’s not what Greg’s post is articulating. It’s more of a 1950s marriage trope about not wanting his wife to nag him.
  4. I would not be surprised at all if Manny didn’t break 300. Though I hope if that’s the case it’s with us.
  5. Ding ding ding
  6. I see Basabe in AAA but probably not until 6/1
  7. Whoa, bolded. Next level.
  8. Have we talked about how nightengale sucks yet?
  9. Reading the flattering reports on his workout gave me flashbacks of Tim lincecum reports.
  10. Glad Sox keep nbc sports technology. The free device streaming on WiFi was great for barbecuing and house work.
  11. Doesn’t YouTube tv show nbcs? Or am I misunderstanding. Exclusive rights?
  12. Also there are three teams involved and a publicly traded company. Not sure they can wait on reporting that to shareholders.
  13. There has been rumors of this for a long time, guessing the framework has been done for a while and it just takes time to dot the Is.
  14. So I've asked this a couple times. Does the fact that Reinsdorf has a stake in NBCS mean that he would get a better deal for network or teams? It seems like a weird set-up to me.
  15. I think so too, and also keep in mind the article from Sarris did not spell danger! It was just a counter to the prevailing wisdom that Machado was obviously going to be better.
  16. They use a large sample of baseball players and track their stats (plate discipline, sprint speed, bat speed, etc) across ages to look at which skills deteriorate less than others and then assign that to the skills of the players. And you are right, there is no way to say definitively x will happen to a player, but you can look at tendencies across a population to help inform likelihoods. And if any team is about to spend a significant investment I guarantee they are doing some projecting.
  17. Have we discussed Marcus Stroman before? That would be fun.
  18. He can play on Hamilton's shoulders.
  19. Royals bring back Terence Gore. I hope he's given a shot to play full time.
  20. I do think what scares me about next year is higher likelihood that Arenado and Rendon re-sign with their teams than was likely Harper/Machado did.
  21. Just want to repost Eno Sarris on who will age better: https://theathletic.com/719317/2018/12/18/who-will-age-better-bryce-harper-or-manny-machado/ The board sentiment that Machado's defense carries him does not factor in that his bat may not age as well as harpers, and the market pays more for offense than defense.
  22. I just want to say that Arenado is good but one of the reasons I think every team will be in on him is they don't expect a 300 mill price tag, which is pretty unique to the ages of Harper/Machado when they are in FA.
  23. bmags replied to Sockin's topic in Pale Hose Talk
    Nice, excited to see Madrigal.
  24. Right and wouldn't you rather just move Torres to SS and sign jed lowrie than force yourself right back into their previous hole with having to deal with Stanton and Machado contracts?
