We're deep as any? What happens if we lose a guard? We really high on Cam Payne and Holliday?

I don't think Brantley can play CF anymore.

It's engel/garcia and it's just an area that does not have a lot of options but has internal options you hope to come up. AJ Pollock is certainly a guy, but how much longer can he play center? Leury for life.

2019 OD Roster Thread with a focus on Eloy
I have to say, I'm willing to roll the dice on aging players (despite my skepticism and lots of evidence this won't work!) that I think will be reasonable value and shorter term. Sign Josh Donaldson - I'd give him the Edwin Encarnacion deal and hope it works. Sign Michael Brantley - (I have no idea if he can play RF, but that would be my plan). Sox really need to cut down on their massive amount of strikeouts. Brantley's equal BB:K rate and health in 2018 make him intriguing to me. I frankly want our W-S/Birmingham OFers to force our hand to come up, not be given a job Sign Dallas Keuchel - Keuchel will be expensive, but he seems like a pitcher that would jibe with our pitching staff philosophy and has post season cache. C - Castillo/Narvaez DH - A Garcia 1b - Abreu 2b - Moncada SS - Anderson 3b - Donaldson LF - Jimenez CF - Engel/L Garcia RF - Brantley SP - Keuchel/Rodon/Kopech/Giolito/Lopez RP - Fry, Burdi, Hamilton, Burr, Covey, Vet churn Total spend: 220million-230million 2019 additional salary: 60 million Target payroll: 110 mill? no idea.

Well, it's what 10 day DL should be for imo.

Midterms 2018
Can't believe that dude spent 30 million of his own money to finish with less than 10% in a primary lol.

8/28 Games
Basabe was 2-4 with a GW (in my book) double last night, and a walk. Almost up to .260 in Birmingham now.

Giolito is saving his season
Pitchers are what make baseball so fun/weird though. The Giorgio that succeeds will look very different than the one we acquired, and I mean unrecognizable from what was drafted.

8/28 Games
Madrigal 2-4 with a BB, Rutherford 3-5 with 2 2Bs.

8/28 Games
It’s not like it hasn’t happened to him before.

8/28 GT - Big Game James vs. Lance Lynn
Listen, Minaya isn’t my fav but every manager looks trash with crap bullpens. We could have had Avilan there or Hamilton, instead we have a bad, old single a pitcher and Burr up. Burr could be good but it’s the 8th.

8/28 GT - Big Game James vs. Lance Lynn
It seems like this is what happens when you purposely hold one hand behind your back. Hope this is last year of this

Love how versatile Fry is.

Giolito is saving his season
So, I do hope sox re-evaluate offseason plans for these guys. A lot of our pitchers were clicking at end of last season only to return completely out of sync.

The " Tank" is dead . Let there be Light !
Right, and 37 wins above replacement is a borderline playoff team.

The " Tank" is dead . Let there be Light !
For instance, I just looked up this article that went around in the offseason talking about how good of a team you could put together with remaining free agents in february. That team was projected for 37 wins, by my count its only projected to hit 21. It's crazy the sox basically built a world series team out of over 30 talent, now it just seems destined to fail. https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/could-a-team-of-remaining-free-agents-compete-in-2018/ Sorry it was here.

The " Tank" is dead . Let there be Light !
This is true but unfortunately hasn't proven to be unwarranted either. It has even felt like the over 30 pitchers have been better than the bats.

What makes me nervous is Hahn's "plug some holes" 1-2 year guys have been absolute failures during his entire tenure. Outside of bullpen, hard to think of any that have been productive. If he's going back to that well he better hit and hit fast if we're to expect him to be the right GM for the job in getting them to a championship.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
Wish I could have seen this one. Looked fun.

8/27 Games
Madrigal was 2-3 with a BB and 2 SBs

8/26 Games
Phew, maybe it was just due to blowout then

8/26 GT - KOPECH DAY (PART 2)!!
The pitcher had just walked in a bases loaded run on a WP, too, maybe he wanted pitcher to show him he could.
