  1. Yeah at the very least it seems every UK/european country had their own reckoning in the last 15 years. Was being managed at a global level. The catholic church at the very least needs to open up to allow a 3rd party create a definitive account of all of the abuse, but it would almost certainly touch every part of their heirarchy. I'm not sure US is even best positioned to force that, France or certainly Italy could apply more pressure.
  2. I don't understand this logic. His contract protects his guaranteed money unless he gets the suspension lengths you mention, which means unless he gets the 4 game vontez burfect suspension, the team cannot take away guarantees from on field suspensions. Think about the whole helmet stuff, this protects against the uncertainty of if suspensions go hog wild. And no, if I had millions on the line in a league that is predicated on weeding out poor performing or outspoken athletes, I would not take the handshake guarantee that my employer would not take away guarantees for on the field conduct even as they maintain they must keep legal option to do so. If they would never use it, then they shouldn't feel bad about taking it out of the contract.
  3. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/08/14/bears-roquan-smith-reached-a-compromise-on-issue-of-voided-guarantees/ Seems like some reasonable wins here for players.
  4. Nice. He just didn't want to go to bourbannais, can't blame him.

An onslaught from the DSL team, 16 hits and 10 runs. Sidney Pimentel is 2-5 with a homer, and hitting .308.
  8. The spring training hats logo is really good, I think they should extend that out more first.
  9. I do kinda feel like jersey innovation is a part of the history and I don't like when that moves on to just be "nostalgia" instead of keeping up with trying to innovate there. But obviously, with reinsdorf he's erred toward some of the more classic looks.

While I like Luis Robert, I think if this rebuild fails one of the big misses will be not committing to a huge latam class before the rules switched. In money terms, we spent a large amount that class, but it was not a 30 person class with 8 guys in the top 30.

I'll say I"ve seen progress in certain things that are still not tangible to production, but I have basically zero confidence in their pro scouting for free agency, and am pretty worried they will royally screw up again committing 8 million here, 10 mill there to garbage players that once again prevent us from truly tipping the scales.

My pee is much more potent than coyote pee to keep away rabbits, though it kills the plants. Trade-off?!
  13. bmags replied to Kyyle23's topic in SLaM
The issue was it started spreading so rapidly, I don't think the pee would cause that. It's hard to tell with the recent dry spell, but it seems like growth has stopped. The fungicide worked in that way but not sure I'll see recovery. Though, we are doing work on our house now and the back yard will be torn to shreds, so I probably didn't need to buy as many products as I did.

Kanny is always pretty bad. NC mountain weather is pretty unpredictable.
  15. Good play is contagious with young teams. Some big plays from engel, great pitching, the whole team seems energized. Nice to see, and see them having fun.
  16. Man, so glad with two men and nobody out we always have to decide between providing the pitcher with an out right away and moving runners over or screwing the batter putting them in worst position possible to have a good at bat.
  17. My argument had nothing to do with the draft. My argument is that body type and power are not even close to the two top predictors I would choose for success in a position player. Madrigal has a number of plus skills, including defense, baserunning and a plus plus skill in bat-to-ball skills. I will take players that have multiple plus skills and high baseball IQ even if they have a below average skill and non-ideal body type.
  18. It's so bizarre to me that in this MLB with all of the different makeups the star players have, people can still feel convinced that they know the ceilings of players. We really still doing little infielder = eckstein? Last year all I heard was Albies was basically Yolmer Sanchez. We have a super star that's a 6'8" (judge) monster bookended by a 5'9 centerfielder (betts). Smooth athletic powerhitting MI (baez) next to pudgy short corner infielders (Ramirez, and guess whose having the best season?. A 5'7 batting champion (altuve) And a prototypical golden child (Trout). Don't tell me you know what these guys are capable of. Madrigal wants every ounce from a baseball career. I'll bet on that guy.
  19. If Madrigal hits a 780 OPS he'd rank 8th as a 2b. Now let's do all of the other baseball stuff he looks to be excellent at.
  20. Knock on wood, but I'm just hoping all of our HS guys can get out of this year healthy. Year ending injuries in those years 18/19 recently have set back some promising players.
  21. I do think I'm leaning toward Hamilton and Burdi as the only bullpen arms I think I'd rank. I'm not sure how much I am to trust players like Johnson/Burr. But I hope I'm wrong because sox will be getting huge huge value out of their bullpen that they can spend elsewhere.
  22. Nicky Madronico
  23. sixth rounder cabrera weaver - not on the list. 4th rounder lency delgado - not on the list. Bush has been awesome, but it was not so obvious he was better than either of those two during draft, and knowing based on his first few weeks that he was a top 30 guy is hard to do. I think there is too strong a tendency to only want prospect rankings to confirm how you see things and not learn from the surprises when there are differences.
  24. My keyboard was about to burst into flames before I actually read your first sentence and realized you were talking about the 15-30 list. I think sox fans are overrating these bullpen arms, or at least counting the chickens before they hatch. I sincerely hope they work out and am interested in watching it. I'm on this Sosa/Mieses/Comas train. I like that they aren't striking out, and are staying healthy at a young age. I feel like one is gonna be a top ten player pretty soon.
