I'm also a bit surprised too, I didn't think he'd be a good hire but I did think the time away and his access to other organizations and his "everyone is great" motif on MNF would actually make him this super positive pete carroll like coach. He's been an ahole.

My best prediction is the raiders will be better than people expect this year and it will give him some chest puffing, then it's gonna be the mediocre muck that was the last 4-5 years of his tampa bay tenure. Except he'll be paid 75 million for it.

2015 is actually better than I thought. Only having 3 picks in the top 150 is killer especially when you pay full slot for Fulmer. Zevala and Stephens, if mlb contributors, would be a pretty nice draft all things considered. Obviously you don't want to tank an 8th overall pick but it happens.

White Sox trade INTL $ to TB for Hunter Schryver, assigned to WS
They also purposefully downgraded all future grades for pitchers this year based off of the historical underperformance of them. When they are already downgrading pitchers, it's not a shock that 24 year old low minors relievers aren't on their hot commodity list.

Yeah second that GF is not required. Sox will know in instructionals whether he’s ready for Kanny or less this winter.

I’m worried we are in a Bosa situation. Really wish Bears will back down.

No they will be announced on 7/2/19. Signings begin to happen pre-period beginning, but plenty still happen throughout year. Look at Victor Victor.

Hunter Schryver sounds like a Law & Order detective.

You can't trade future intl money so it's 2018 money.

Kinsler to Red Sox
Yes, all of this.

Kinsler to Red Sox
Nothing has reaffirmed the rebuild strategy for me more than the struggle the angels have had to make the playoffs. Just did not have enough resources to add enough to overcome a series of unlucky seasons. Have been drafting wayyy better though, so they will be better soon. Unknown if trout is there for it.

Soria traded for Kodi Medeiros and Wilber Perez.
Definitely going Med Dare Ohss until I'm corrected.

Jacob May released
Glad he got the chance in the bigs, clear he couldn't hit that next gear. Wish him well.

Long term trend: MiLB relievers
My guess would be that the college relievers could be successful but may be the more highly volatile, up and down relievers as they have less experience changing things up as hitters see them more. Converted starters are more consistent because they have worked through trying to make their stuff play up when tired, when going through a 2nd/3rd time through, etc. Just a hunch, but it makes sense to me.

Long term trend: MiLB relievers
This isn't really a question. That is the gamble. The sox have invested a bunch into college relievers and presumably because they expect a return. Perhaps they are expecting the high leverage relievers to be the converted starters and just have these be the depth so you don't need to pay for a MR on the market or during season, but this is the play.

2018 NFL off-season thread
Yeah, I think Bears need to fold. While I understand the argument they shouldn't have to pay for production they didn't get, the league has increased suspensions for more and more on-field play, which is increasing potential for players to miss guarantees due to decreased playing time. The teams get to vote on those rules, the players do not. The team should take the risk, not the player, especially on the defaulted slotted contracts. If a guy has a history of it? By all means try to add it into a FA contract, but this is silly.

Trade partners over time
Yeah I think that's a factor of wanting it to translate to all time.

Right, the link I included was just looking at Hahn's tenure (2013-today)

Trade partners over time
https://www.thebaseballgauge.com/history.php?tab=trade_partners&first=2013&last=max Cool tool that allows you to see how often teams trade with one another. the above link I set to just look at Hahn’s tenure. Lotta AZ and Oakland, no trades with the Mets or Indians. Interesting to me was the all time most frequent partners were Cincinnati and STL, and wasn’t even that close.

Avilan/Cedeno "in play"
I enjoy that his teammates were hugging him to support his hammy.

Do the Sox have the clear #1 farm system in the mlb?
Sox fans aren’t good at this stuff because they compare our system to what it used to be vs comparing it truly to all other franchises. I don’t think anyone has the time for that but after the year of injuries I’d probably take Yankees or brave for under 25 talent.

Long term trend: MiLB relievers
I have been interested in seeing it workout. If the zig where others zag stuff where you could see an advantage for the Sox, building an organic costcontrolled bullpen could allow more leeway to go after position and SP upgrades. that said, the huge weakness I see in it is the raiding of the group in rule 5. Are eel going to lose interesting starters or position players because we have to protect a huge number of prospect relievers?
