2018 MLB Draft
Wait is referencing Fulmer falling a good thing? ?

It's time to talk about the Sox young pitching
I kept bringing up trading for Jason Hammel lol what a terrible idea.

2018 MLB Draft
Great stuff thanks. While the top 5 is kinda meh, looking at that mock I keep thinking "man, what a haul for x team". Indians keep getting mocked to Alek Thomas. Think it's unlikely he makes it out past comp rounds.

LOL, funny thing on tankathon, seems like I'll either get #1 after 20 tries, or i'll be 6 or 7, but rarely #2 or 3

Quietly preparing myself for the reality that Mikal Bridges will be the bulls pick regardless. We'll be sitting at #1 and they'll be drooling to draft a 22 year old. (this is overly dramatic) In this draft, I'll settle for merely the top three. See how humble I am, ping pong Gods?

Would he do the pre-draft physical that's offered?

Prospect Focus: Gavin Sheets (or, where is the power?)
Nice article. I'm still just so surprised he hasn't accidentally run into home runs down there. But for a guy like him, he needs more than contact, he's going to need to learn soon which pitches he can hit for power, vs just hit. So I hope this pays off.

2018 MLB Draft
Singer is not my favorite. This all reminds me so much of last year with Faedo and Bukauskus. Two good pitchers from dominant programs! Just know how to win! Not writing off either but the concerns with both have been prevalent. They were not safe, I don't see singer as "safe". I like Mize. I would like McClanahan at 10. The only pill I could swallow pitching wise would be Liberatore, and I wouldn't rank him in my top 5. Never seen these guys play aside from Mize for like an inning. But just going by player type and risk, I'm just not buying in.

Hayward is good, he’s like a top 20 player. Not sure that’s a superstar but a #2 on a conference finals type team. i mean man if Utah kept him, him and Donovan Mitchell would have been interesting

Trust the process
You guys are throwing around total contract value and that's a nice device, but yes I fully expect the white sox to have several signings making 12+ million a year. I mean. Don't forget about the 48 million we paid Melky. Or 30 million we paid James Shields. Or 46 million to David Robertson. Like really? John Lackey's contract is some unattainable golden goose?

Trust the process
Among other things that are going to be beneficial to the white sox when this hell ends, the market for mid-range vets has cratered compared to when we needed one for every other position player. But beyond that, I am certain that the depth of the org has increased to the point that the org will never again need to feel that it needs to shell out consistently for utility infielders, 37 year old placeholder short stops, and DH's, and can pay the premium required for actual production instead of market price for replacement level they can't recreate themselves.

Davidson's Future
The one thing that I've soured on a bit on this, is when players "surprise" you like this, I am still unlikely to trust them in a multi-year sample. That's the problem with delmonico, his eoy slump included, his approach and swing just looked the part. But, anyway, main point is that even if a player surprises, I'm not sure I'll be a believer in them if they are bat-only.

Pretty incredible Sox gate numbers from 2016
I know why I love baseball, to count the amount of people watching it next to me.

Should I be excited about Sox/Pirates
We are going to win both games.

5/13 Games
We're like 3 weeks from the draft, or so. I don't think we'll see much aside from the initial wave with Robert, then the big changes as the draftees get assigned.

2018 MLB Draft
Right and this is also the part of the year where all you hear are negatives so it seems like everyone sucks

5/11 Games
Something to keep in mind: to start this year you wouldn’t find anyone that would say Bo Bichette (outside of blue jays org) would stick at SS. Latest reports? “Wow Bichette looks great at short!” these “so and so is NOT a catcher” reports are not gospel. They may turn out accurate, but don’t write off players based off predictive reports.

2018 MLB Draft
If we picked 20, I’d agree. But we pick 4. You don’t take a guy in a lower tier because of org need. Now you may have two players rated similarly, but that’s a diff story.

Draft Profile: 2B Nick Madrigal, Oregon State
I think the main issue I've had with people's opinions on Madrigal is when scouts talk about him profiling best at 2b, they aren't just saying it's his best position (as in he can't play anywhere else), they are saying he's a Plus-plus future gold glover there. That doesn't mean he is below average in other positions. It means he's really good at 2b.

5/10 Games
Ha! I was like "dang how come I don't know this hot under the radar prospect!?"

Draft Profile: 2B Nick Madrigal, Oregon State
Has anyone said he straight up can't play 3rd? I get that his arm isn't plus plus, but neither is Yolmers, and he makes up for it in the same way Madrigal could, his exceptionally quick release (madrigal has fast hands). It's a question of "wasting" his athleticism there, but especially in the age of shifts I just don't buy that you couldn't play madrigal anywhere in the infield.

Could Palka be the White Sox Schwarber?
One thing that has happened this year is as much as I wanted this year to allow room for a "surprise" player to happen (a la last year), I also would have zero confidence they are any good and worth keeping spots open for beyond a year.
