  1. I think it's funny how Ozzie is basically blaming the season on Carlos when all Carlos did was put up .305/31/99. The Sox would have not been in a situation like that if we had a 5th starter, or if Crede batted .275 or Valentin. Blaming the season on one play in one game by one player is ridiculous. By the way, I was very pissed that the sox did NOT retaliate. Torrie Hunters hit on Burke changed the momentum of the season for the Twins, however if we did hit one of their batters, was momentum coming back to us? Doubt it. Bill
  2. I am a big Crede fan and want him to succeed. I think he has the talent, but needs some work to find that talent. If he can learn to shorten his swing, he will be a solid ballplayer. Bill
  3. I agree too, I want no part in Vazquez because we will have to give up a ton for him. Just out of curiosity, how much money did the Yankees give the D-backs for Vazquez? Our pitching staff is good as it is now, its a very talented group....PLEASE STAY HEALTHY!! Bill
  4. I'm sorry guys, I'm just not sold on this guy. There has been a huge Jap craze in the past few years and it seems as though "one big guy" comes out of Japan every year. Give Willie a shot every day and maybe he's not bad. Let it be known though that I am not a big Willie fan, I'm just nervous about Iguchi. Bill
  5. what do we need eric byrnes for? our outfield is set.
  6. I would also say Rowand because he is more of a basestealer threat then Uribe. I also think that Uribe would produce better later in the line up. Hollywood Harris is probably not a bad #9 hitter, and the way this is looking, I am prepared to go into the season with him. Being a #9 hitter, you are basically just a second leadoff hitter. Willie is fast and can steal somewhat, so #9 fits him well. All of this being said, we need Crede to have a solid year too!
  7. For as similar as those stats are, I would rather keep harris and try to sign pierzynski or save the money for July. There is no reason to sign a FA just to sign a FA. Nobody including myself seems that sold a Cora, so why waste the money for him to suck. By the way, I hate Pierzynski, as I'm sure many Sox fans and players do, but he is an upgrade and he is a solid bat.
  8. One would imagine that we would have more money to spend, but w/ the Sox, you never know. And maybe like Kenny said, he will save a little money for his annual July trades. No matter what the pay roll is, I can't wait to get back to the cell! Bill
  9. 1st time poster, long time reader! I don't think that the Sox will get Vazquez. That trade between NY and Arz is so complicated, it might never happen. Look at A-Rod to the BoSox last year, and Magglio, and Manny, and Normar, and such. It's hard to pull off a 3 team trade with so many big names and contracts. I would be happy with Cora, but he is slow. THis guy from Japan does not interest me. Also, there is talks of Pierzynski again. Kenny needs to get one more bat, and solidify the middle IF. Willie might be decent someday (.280 or so), but he needs more time to develop.
