Sox vs Royals 4-18
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 07:52 PM) He's one guy that seems to give up a run against us everytime he goes out. Except is first ever outing against us where he was just narsty. Anyways, this team is getting real close to being locked in. Even though we've been winning the last week, we haven't played like we can. Hopefully Garland is starting to get back on track and we can run off a huge winning streak(very possible with this pitching staff).

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 07:48 PM) In time, Cotts will claim that 8th inning "set-up" spot again. In the mean time, I'm interested in getting as many Ws as possible...in order to do that, McCarthy needs to bridge the gap. Like I said though, he's only had one bad outing and that game was already over with, he's looked real good when he's pitched in close games.

Sox vs Royals 4-18
QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 07:44 PM) If you're interested in losing. No one has stepped up yet. McCarthy gets the 8th. We're also going to have to use more then Brandon every 7th and 8th inning. Neal has had one bad outing when the game was already out of hand. He's still our best reliever imo(obviously brandon has been up to this point) but I'll take my chances with Neal every game.

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 07:40 PM) I'm about 99 pct certain it was a situation where he wanted Garland to go out of the game with the chance to win and keep his confidence up. Ya, on 2nd thought, that's exactly it.

Very interesting. Ozzie has had an extremely long leash on everyone this season(hell, his whole managing career) then goes shortleash on Jon tonight.

I'm glad to see Jon stay out there one more.

Sox vs Royals 4-18
Honestly, if Jon is coming out I'd like to see Matt or Neal pitch the 7th. I don't want Bmac pitching 2 innings everytime he comes in, and if he comes out there for the 7th, I bet he'll be out there for the 8th as well.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 06:52 PM) Wrong. All 3 of the balls hit that inning were basically ducksnorts.. Just going by the commentary on here from last inning(3rd) as I can't watch teh game.

Sounds like Jon is getting a lot of help so far this game(good d, hard hit balls). Hopefully he doesn't implode for an inning, got to keep 'em right there Jon.

Greg Maddux
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 06:23 PM) Is he retiring after this year -- what do you guys think? I think it depends on how well the Cubs do and how his health holds up, but moreso on the Cubs winning and how good their team is lined up to be for next year, too. Maddux wants another Ring. (Of course, he'll have to hold off on that while with the Cubs...) On another note, am I the only one pulling for him to win the National League Cy Young, and happy he's off to three great starts? Maddux will always be a Brave to me. But, more importantly, he'll always be a damned good pitcher. LOL, by the end of the year his era will be over 4, he's not getting anywhere near the cy young.

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 06:42 PM) Anderson has a huge hitch in his swing right now. Was it this bad last season? I honestly can't remember. Yes it was.

Contreras and Contracts
QUOTE(Wedge @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 09:29 AM) I love this guy, too, but unfortunately I think that the East Coast Bias will end up favoring either Beckett or Schilling and the West Coast group will be in love with the best of the A's pitchers. Schilling and Beckett won't pitch enough to win the cy young.

Thomas, Gay Declare for NBA Draft
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 10:02 AM) Woah, woah, woah, Shawn Marion? Let's not go that far. Tyrus is an amazing athlete and all but he does not have the outside shot of Marion, a much better comparison would be Kenyon Martin, who also went #1 overall. Kenyon is stronger and has a much better post game. Whoever takes Tyrus is going to regret it imo, he's a very gifted athlete but I don't see much in him besides that.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 07:37 AM) And to get ahead in the count. I'd really love to see some stats for Jon's success rate when he's 0-1 in the count, instead of 1-0 or 2-0. Makes a huge difference for him. Makes a huge difference for any pitcher.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Apr 17, 2006 -> 08:48 PM) Only Brian Anderson could strike out 3 times against the f***ing Royals. :rolly Whats his issue anyhow? He's a rookie cf trying to find himself at the plate. Be patient, he'll get there.
