QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 17, 2006 -> 12:08 PM) Does anyone remember a Sammy HR ball hitting the wall just below the fan deck a few years ago? Ya, I was at that game, landed in the shrubbery.

Sox vs Royals 4/17
QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Apr 17, 2006 -> 02:21 PM) Good luck on your test tonight Steve, i'll have a brat for you. Ouch, you're harsh.

So who do you fear the most? 3 headed monster....
Twins by far. I've said this a lot but the Tigers will be tucked away in 4th by the allstar break, they won't finish within 15 games of the Sox.

Hair Cuts Coming
QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Apr 17, 2006 -> 10:23 AM) Actually, in the business world all that stuff goes hand in hand, its the same thing. Close cut and professional, thats the way it is. These guys represent Jerry's business, he can tell them how long he likes their hair if he wants, and if they dont like it they can find employment elsewhere. Do you think that haircuts are so important that they have lost sight of the team needs? Did they lose their way because Jerry doesnt like it long? Maybe KW's big board fell off the wall when Jerry started b****ing about the hair? The big board has been flooded in hair after the cuts took place.

How good is this team?
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 16, 2006 -> 11:22 PM) The AL is so strong, I love it. I cant wait for the playoffs, even if our Sox arent in it. Don't even talk that way.

How good is this team?
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 16, 2006 -> 11:13 PM) Team(s) as in how many? If more than 2, where are are the W's going to come from?? lol about 2 is what I was thinking. I still think the sox are going to get rolling and win 95+ then I think either the A's or the Yankees can/will do it as well. The a's have the pitching that should be able to stop a lot of long losing streaks from happening and start some large ones. The yankees have a good enough offense to win a ton of games just cause the pitching inside their division isn't exactly stellar, though I still think the yanks are 1 and done come playoff time(if they get in). So ya, basically 1-3 at most I can see doing it, otherwise you're right, there aren't to many pushovers in the american league, all those teams are in the national league.

How good is this team?
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 16, 2006 -> 11:05 PM) I was just talking about this on the way to the game today. Everyone has been talking about its going to take 93,95 wins to get into the playoffs. My question is where the hell are all those wins going to come from? KC is bad, but there not going to lose 120 games, nor is Tampa. So who is going to lose all these games? The al is pretty loaded but the top teams are still going to win 95+ imo.

So is Cintron a starter?
QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 16, 2006 -> 10:54 PM) It's way too early to be having this discussion. Hell, I remember hearing about a rookie CF starting off his career with an 0-40 or some such horrendousness. You may have heard of him. His name was Willie Mays. Sorry, doesn't ring a bell.

Official NBA Discussion Thread
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 16, 2006 -> 10:53 PM) There's a few guys in that mold. I mean in a weak draft, he's got a chance to go top 10, he should probably come out now. Next year's draft is a LOT stronger IIRC. It could be, it has a chance to be insanely talented but that's assuming guys like Oden, Wright, Young, Durant, Noah, etc come out. All those guys I listed minus Noah are all going to be freshman this upcoming season so who knows if they'll come out or stay in school.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 16, 2006 -> 10:21 PM) Yep, it's time for me to start hoping we pick up Brandon Roy or Ronnie Brewer in the draft. It will be interesting to see if we get Brewer, who you guys will go for with your 2nd pick, assuming you take Aldridge, because there isn't many good swingmen in this draft, after the top 5 or so. I've been hearing rumors that Brewer might stay now. We'll see, I'd still bet that he comes out but it doesn't seem 100 percent certain anymore.

So is Cintron a starter?
QUOTE(SoxAce @ Apr 16, 2006 -> 10:39 PM) Why are we even discussing this, by mid May I can guarantee a thread (or someone bringing back this one or another) called "Anderson is GOD" or "Aaron who?" Ha, good point. Probably will happen.

So is Cintron a starter?
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 16, 2006 -> 10:38 PM) Which will be Anderson in a week. I have no idea why people think Anderson is a defensive liability. Cause he's made one bad play.

So is Cintron a starter?
QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Apr 16, 2006 -> 10:36 PM) Look of course i'd rather have a Carlos Beltran, Andruw Jones, Aaron Rowand, hell even Hunter... But i'm trying to think of someone cheap who has some shot of giving us decent defense and an average over .200 Erstad ain't cheap though.

No more tarp sliding for Buehrle
QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Apr 16, 2006 -> 10:33 PM) Works for me. Although, I could go all night on this topic. There should really be a seperate forum on this site for arguing the virtues of the slip-n-slide. Mods, I hope you are reading this. soxtalk needs to have a giant slip n slide party.

No more tarp sliding for Buehrle
QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Apr 16, 2006 -> 10:25 PM) But the principle is the same. No matter how harmless a slip n slide is, the possibilty of hurting yourself is there. And like the Aaron situation, if he hurts himself, it'll be doing something other than what he is paid to do. I enjoy watching it. I think its refreshing to see a player have as much fun playing this game as Mark does. But I can't blame Kenny one bit for his stance on this. I can think of about 8 million reasons that he shouldn't be doing it, not to mention his importance to the team. The risk is small, but still... See, I disagree because basically now we're saying there is a risk in anything he does, and like I said I would bet there is more risk in some of his daily routines then there is doing this. What if he goes shopping and has a watermelon fall on his foot?? Anyways, I think both of us will agree this is a dumb argument, we're arguing over a giant slip n slide basically . I'll just let it go, no need to keep arguing.

So is Cintron a starter?
QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Apr 16, 2006 -> 10:22 PM) Actually I was thinking more along the lines of Darin Erstad... Solid lefty stick... Above average defensive CF... Veteran with World Series experience... and I bet he could be had for a couple of less then top propects... Hell even from in Owens in you want... And when he gets injured then what? I'm actually one of the few people on here who likes Darrin but putting him back in cf like the Angels have done is just asking for an injury.

So is Cintron a starter?
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 16, 2006 -> 10:19 PM) Anyone else see how important this statement is? Remember last season after Brandon McCarthy was giving up quite a number of homers, quite a few posters felt he was definitely expendable to get a Burnett or Schmidt at the deadline. Instead we've got a young pitcher who's not making much money at all, and is probably our best bullpen pitcher right now. I think that's one of the harder things in baseball to do..stay patient with young players. That being said you just have to do it because if you believe in that player, you just can't give up on him after 2 weeks, a month or even a year. It takes different players different amounts of time to grow and become the player they have the potential to be. You give up on a young, talented player this quick and a lot of time it will come back and bite you in the ass.

No more tarp sliding for Buehrle
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 16, 2006 -> 10:15 PM) It almost reminds me of when Aaron Rowand busted his shoulder when he was riding dirt bikes during the off-season a few seasons back. You can see why the Sox are maybe a little bit leery after that type of thing happens. Once again I see your point and that's a good point because a player has had a freak thing happen to him recently for this club but riding a dirt bike is much more dangerous then a slip n slide.

So is Cintron a starter?
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 16, 2006 -> 10:14 PM) And what do we give up for a real CF (like Ken Griffey Jr. I assume you're going to suggest)? Forget the fact that we're only 12 games into the season as well. Just give Brian a chance(not directing this at you dbaho), he looks horrible right now but he might just come around and he's talented enough to do so. As long as he can get his average to about .250 and provide some pop then he just has to catch the ball. You can not give up on young, talented players this quick otherwise you end up regretting it. Thank god Kenny hung onto Brandon after his first stint in the show.

No more tarp sliding for Buehrle
QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 16, 2006 -> 10:08 PM) Yeah....but there's not a giant mound in the middle of Buehrle's yard (at least I don't think). All it takes is one time for Buehrle to not correct judge where the bases are, and he could easily bust his shoulder. I love Buerhle's enthusiasm, but I can see why the Sox brass would put a stop to it. How do you know? I see your point but I just don't think it's that big of a risk, the guy is just having fun. I'm sure Mark does more dangerous things just about every day.
