QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 09:50 PM) I'll say it again: No way. I'll make a bet that we don't win 98, if you're game. I think there is a good chance that we can win 100 but I don't bet on the Sox as a team. I never have and never will, it's my superstitious side I guess.

Zito is available
QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 08:02 PM) I think Zito ends up a Met this year and gets extended. I think they deal Milledge and either Mike Pelfrey or Aaron Heilman for him. I think he'd be a great fit for an NL team If he does get traded it definitely wouldn't surprise me to see him get traded to the Mets but they absolutely can't afford to trade Heilman. He's way to important for their pen right now.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 07:00 PM) Exactly on Vaz, he has shut down the Royals twice and the other start there was an excuse (from Ozzie) that he was tipping pitches. I have him pegged as our No. 3 guy, but I still would like to see a couple of more starts against real competition (i.e. not the Royals). So far against one legit team he got shelled. I didn't get to see Garland pitch so I don't exactly know how he looked(from the sounds of it he was better but still not great) but Vaz was just absolutely nasty today, nobody would have hit him today.

AL Central Central
Anyone know exactly what is wrong with Betancourt? IMO he's their best reliever and if he's out for a long time their bullpen is going to completely suck and they're going to be in some trouble.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 05:59 PM) Baltimore :headshake Baltimore answering right back. 4-3 now with runners on 1st and 2nd and no outs for Miggy. The whole inning started with a Corey Patterson bunt single.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 06:10 PM) Johan Santana is the best pitcher in baseball period. His stuff is so f***ing sick and he knows exactly how to use it, he's just one of those damn pitchers that comes around only once every decade. Mark is a f***ing awesome pitcher, don't get me wrong. The guy has some good pitches and is smart as hell, pitches tons of innings and is a great guy but he's just nowhere near Santana right now. Yeup, agree with everything, I'm just so used to saying american league in my arguments, but he is the best pitcher in the majors, no doubt in my mind.

BP's "Top 50"--Where's Buehrle?
Holy hell that's one horrendous list.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 05:54 PM) They're different types. It's like comparing Maddux to Clemens, I think. I wouldn't say Santana is THAT much better than Buehrle, and I'm not so sure Mark's not better to have. It has nothing to do with what kind of pitchers they are, and as far as Maddux-Clemens goes, Maddux was every bit as good as Rogers was. Johan is the best pitcher in the al right now and while Mark is one hell of a pitcher, he's just not in Johan's league at this point.

QUOTE(greg775 @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 05:44 PM) Uh....no. I love Mark but he's not in Santana's league.' Uh yes, Mark Buehrle is in Santana's league. No he's not.

QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 05:37 PM) 100 wins? No way. No way? This team is better then the team last year that won 99, I don't think you can say that there is no chance of them winning 100.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 04:10 PM) There is someone by the name of Mark Buehrle going against him. Which pitcher is better? I'd take Buehrle any day of the week. Uh....no. I love Mark but he's not in Santana's league.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 03:45 PM) I'm pretty sickened by your low expectations for this team. If Javy wasn't freaking tipping his pitches Friday, I'd be 10 wins in a row. 9-1 in our last 10 is only acceptable for those once in a while occasions where we just get our butt kicked from inning 1 through 9. Good point, I apologize.

We should just go 9-1 all the time in our last 10.

Mark Buehrle Contract Talk
QUOTE(Wedge @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 03:13 PM) Alright, this stuff makes me unhappy: Rumor Central Unfortunately I don't have Insider, but even seeing Buehrle on that list really pisses me off! It's most likely just from this article.

Quick Upper Deck Question

Quick Upper Deck Question
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 03:01 PM) What row are the poles at upstairs. For instance, what row would I have to be in to be above the poles and have an obstructed view? Thanks. They're everywhere. I would say about row 17ish is when you have to start worrying about them but they really aren't that bad. At worst, if you get obstructed by a pole, you'll have to move your head a bit to see the whole field, it's really not bad at all. EDIT: LOL, ok I can't read obviously. For some reason I thought you were asking what section. But anyways, ya it's about row 17 I believe.

Zito is available
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 02:34 PM) Well if they dump Zito, they still have Harden, Haren, Blanton, Loaiza, and Kennedy can move to the #5 spot (he's been very good out of the pen), plus whatever they get in the Zito trade and a few arms on the farm that could come up and are ready IMO. It's not like trading Zito would be giving up on this season or anything. Loaiza isn't very good as it is, it's ok for him to be the 5 starter when you have 4 studs in front of him but all the sudden you throw Kennedy in the rotation who has been horrible as a starter in his career, so now your 4-5 isn't all that impressive and you've just weakened your rotation a ton. I stand by my statement that you don't trade your 1/2 starter when you have a very legit shot at making hte playoffs, makes 0 sense in my mind.
