  1. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 12:01 PM) someone tell Anderson its ok to take a pitch here and there. espically facing Jason gilli That just tells you that right now he's very uncomfortable up there. Because of that he's swinging at everything he sees just to try and make solid contact.
  2. 2 out nobody on and we've put up a 5 spot so far. Gotta love it.
  3. All started with a 2 out walk. Way to make him pay O.
  4. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 11:25 AM) Soxtalk roll call for this weekend's game? I'll be in attendance both Saturday and Sunday. Pick me up from Carbondale and I'll go.
  5. Bobby will be fine and IMO Brandon is to valuable overall to the pen to have him closing.
  6. Who else thinks Thome is going to hit 100 homers this year?
  7. QUOTE(AbeFroman @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 08:32 AM) so verlander has a cannon right? and he's a rookie? . Yes and yes.
  8. This pitching matchup scares the hell out of me. Hopefully this is the game Pods decides to wake up and can cause Verlander some problems right away in the first inning. We obviously need Jon to step up, can't have that guy against KC. I don't have a good feeling about this one, hopefully I'm wrong. GO SOX!!!!!!!!!
  9. QUOTE(Wanne @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 01:55 AM) Wonder how hard Kenny pushed to put Politte in that deal instead of Viz if at all. Um....Not at all.
  10. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 10:36 PM) Yeah. It's hard to do these combos because damn near all of these guys are gimps. You have to eliminate Schilling/Beckett, Halladay/Burnett, Oswalt/Pettite, etc. Hey, I have one: Bonderman/Verlander It really is hard to do this, once you get to about 7 it gets kind of bad. I can argue 2 White Sox combos and 2 A's combos before some of the ones further down. It's tough.
  11. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 10:22 PM) Umm, and if Schilling is healthy, I have news for y'all. Him and Beckett are top 10 without question. I will hold off for the time being, as Curt's numbers were ATROCIOUS last year. I'm talking Hall Of Shame type numbers. To bad they'll both be on the dl in a month.
  12. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 09:28 PM) Meh. He's had some decent years, but there are a lot of mediocre to poor ones mixed in too. He's got a 4.22 career ERA, which I suppose is okay. He's been over 4.4 for 5 of his 11 years, and was under 4 only 3 times. He's a decent #3, but unfortunately for the Twins he's been a #1 or #2 for them most of his career. I was actually just basing it on the last few years because he said radke sucks "now." He's been pretty solid the last two years, over his career though I agree that he's been pretty average.
  13. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 09:21 PM) You can't knock OBP, though. Getting on base is what it's all about. You put pressure on the pitcher, you f*** with the heads of infielders, you see to it that there are more "ducks on the pond" so that your sluggers can have more RBI opportunities, etc. And really, how often are you going to have a guy with a great OBP and a s***ty batting average? There are only a select few guys that I can think of. Plenty of stats are overrated. That ain't one of them IMO. It's an important stat but it's overrated in the sense that some people think it's the only thing that matters. That's far from the case. I'm just one of those people who hate when people say that Garrett Anderson sucked last year cause his obp and ops were down yet he still drove in 96. It seems at times that people have now forgot about the traditional stats with all these new age ones out there.
  14. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 07:09 PM) Radke sucks now.... based on last season prob Johan/Silva If by sucks you mean above average. He's not an ace or anything but he's still a damn solid pitcher.
  15. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 07:41 PM) I'm just going to agree to disagree, but there is a reason why the teams that win are still routed in scouting and not stats that pop up out of a computer. I'm not knocking stats, they are important, but way overdone. And anyone that doesn't realize how over-rated OBP is well whatever. Its great to have a nice OBP but more important is a hitters ability to HIT. Having a good eye makes him a more complete player. And having good STUFF has nothing to do whether you can throw strikes or not. Thats COMMAND, not STUFF. Wow, um....Bingo.
  16. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 08:19 PM) Er, can I ask what SGPIR is without sounding like a newb? *hums* Ha, don't worry about it. It's just a stat I made up.
  17. By the way Jose's SGPIR today was 9.3.
  18. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 06:38 PM) Still the important thing with him compared with Steve Francis is that he won't turn the ball over a whole lot. I don't think he's going to average more than 5 or 6 assists per game, but he could easily be a 18/6 guy, he's a very good shooter for a PG. And he's not a douche bag.
