QUOTE(G&T @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 06:25 PM) I think Buehrle and Contreras can easily be on the list at this point. The problem is that it's difficult to pick two out of these 5. By the end of the season, it could be Vasquez and Contreras as the best guys. It's much easier to pick from some of those teams where they only have two good starters. Right now Mark and JC should be on that list. By the end of the year it'll be JC and Vaz imo. Some of those are seriously retarded. Schilling/Beckett is pretty laughable at 2 imo. Zambrano is virtually there by himself.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 05:36 PM) Alright here's a true story from one of my friends. His sister is house sitting/dog sitting for this family while they are on vacation. Before the family leaves, they tell this girl (who's 16) that the dog is very sick and could actually die while they are gone. A few days into the vacation, the dog dies. This girl doesn't really know what to do...so she figures she'll take it to the vet or what not. Well this dog is gigantic, and this girl is pretty small - she can't carry it into the car. She decides to put the dog into a large suitcase to try to drag that to the car. She puts the dog in there, and starts to get it to the car. As she's struggling to get this thing up into a car, a person walking by says "Hey, do you need some help with that?" She says "sure." The guy walking by picks up the suitcase........and runs away with it, thinking he's getting off with some sweet stuff. She didn't yell at him or chase him or anything, because, well, there was a dead dog in there. Talk about sweet justice. Have fun with your dead dog, prick. Also, wouldn't you think the guy would kind of question why the hell she didn't scream or chase after him or anything? I think watching him lug this thing down the street would have been hilarious.

QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 05:15 PM) If we were in a one-run game today in the 9th we would have lost it one bad pitch or not. Ya, well we werent and that makes a big difference in the pitchers mindset.

QUOTE(Felix @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 05:30 PM) But.. but... he's perfect in save opportunities! That must mean he's done well! In all seriousness, I agree completely with you. So are you going to waste another post saying the same thing?

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 05:25 PM) ERA, on the other hand? Just like you stated: biased to how teams play. Yeah, the official scorer didn't call it an error, but Scotty Pods done f***ed up when that catchable line drive turned into a freaking triple with the bases loaded. That ain't cool. Then that causes a hit to be added on to the guys whip as well.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 02:42 PM) The good thing is that this team hits fastballs like its their job. Probably because it is their job.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 03:04 PM) Indians aren't as good as most of you seem to think. That pitching is mediocre at BEST. ^^^

QUOTE(Felix @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 01:33 PM) From what I've seen, his control has not been that good. He hasn't walked that many people, but he's not been able to keep his curveball in the zone, and his fastball is errant at times. And again, he's let up 3 runs in 4 innings to go along with 2 homeruns. He has not been that good this year, and there is reason to worry about him in 1 run games. Last year April was a suckfest for closers, off the top of my head I know that Lidge and Chad Cordero have already had some issues this year. Bobby might not be pitching great right now but he's getting the job done when he has to.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 01:22 PM) Perfect in save situations but still looking fugly -- 6.23 ERA. His era can be 50 for all I care, as long as he gets the job done.

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 01:25 PM) I'm not too concerned about Jenks. I'd rather he give up a 2 run homer with a 3 run lead instead of walking Shelton, and bringing the tying run up to bat. This will be hypocritical of me to say, but I see no reason for complaining after this game. We won, Contreras dominated without striking out a lot of guys, and Thome is amazing. BTW...good job Ozzie handling the bullpen. You're just not fun when you're not complaining.

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 12:31 PM) Man, yahoo.com is all over the place. Inning over, I take it? So is gameday, just went nuts on me. Ya, the inning is over though.

Contreras out of the inning still 4-1.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 12:25 PM) The coaching staff need to help him with his batting. The kid has the tools, he just needs to shorten it up a bit. I read today that Brian was trying to hit the ball 500 feet when was up with men on in the Royals series. They should be drilling line drive, line drive in his head. They probably are.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 12:18 PM) Lets go Joe. Just a flyball, get one in. Ya, kind of like that.

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 12:15 PM) The thing is, I thought he was 100 pct honest. PBP's are always interesting to follow. I remember there were times last year where people would say "f***".... and the only thing that had happened was that someone threw a first pitch ball to a good hitter on the opposition, etc. Thanks all for the PBP....even you jphat. Haha, I know and I understand. I'm trying to watch this thing on mlb.tv while I'm in class, problem is for whatever reason the picture keeps on freezing. So basically right now I'm listening to Hawk and DJ like it's the radio.

There you go fathom, now it's 3-0.
