  1. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 02:34 AM) People freaking out about Widger making the team over Davis and Burke. Keep 'em coming
  2. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 02:20 AM) It's funny to go back and look at old threads just to see how stupid people are at times. I remember like 3 threads spewing hatred for Politte when he sucked during ST. I remember that very well.
  3. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 02:17 AM) I've been looking at old thread for about the last hour. I found this gem from Tex: Tex has some insite: So you also browse through old threads when everyone else is gone.
  4. Anyone else realize anthrax disappeared since he can't complain about kenny anymore
  5. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 02:14 AM) We were both in a 6 month old thread at the same time at 3 Oclock in the morning. I thought I some how bumped this thread by accident. That is kind of freaky. Looking through offseason threads is definitely fun and interesting though.
  6. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 01:46 AM) GO JAZZ!! Have fun with Ruben Patterson
  7. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 01:21 AM) That's why laptops are the s***. Watch the Sox game on my Big Screen and watch live draft coverage on my notebook. f***ing lifesaver. That's a good call. I just got laptop for a graduation gift a few weeks back, I forgot I can do stuff like that.
  8. QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 01:08 AM) 6/27 Update Thanks for that bham. Looks like Young has no problem hitting his homers against top prospects.
  9. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 01:05 AM) Hoping i can watch most of the draft since buehrle is pitching. Either way i will probally flip back and forth alot. Reason being the draft is once a year and a white sox game is 162 times a year ( hopefully more this year). Ha, good point on Mark. Anyways, I know the draft is once a year but for me the Sox are much more important then anything else so the draft takes a back seat but I'll be following during commercials, no doubt.
  10. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 01:01 AM) Getz played 2B in his debut, but has shifted to SS since. He was project as a SS out of the draft. I don't see how the guy was a 2B in college yet projected to SS in the pros. Anybody know why he was projected as a SS? Why would he play the easier position in college and then shift to the harder one in the pros? Young is 11-17 (.647) with 4 HR, 4 doubles, 8 RBI, 7 R, and a walk in his last 4 games. From what I know he has tremendous range and a strong arm so that's why he's projectible as a shortstop, as for why he played second in college I have no clue. EDIT: I also find it weird that he's hitting 3rd in the lineup, I think of him more as a 1 or 2 hole hitter.
  11. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 01:00 AM) I guess we just can't disagree on who the better player is, huh? Keep in mind that opinions are like assholes... everyone's got one. I don't think he has any problem with your opinion it's just the fact you give up on players so quickly.
  12. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 12:34 AM) Everyone always says that and then we still end up losing those series to the A's. Don't get your hopes up. Remember last time you completely dismissed one of my predictions??
  13. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 12:11 AM) We get Haren/Harden/Zito out there.... Oakland has been about the best team in baseball (save the Nats) since the calender turned to June. They have, no doubt, been the best pitching staff in baseball since the calender changed to June (2.98 ERA). Haren and Harden are horses. They're fricken good. Zito, well he's got a Cy Young. That's going to be one hella tough series. Well they get Contreras/Garland/Buehrle no walk in the park either. We'll get 'em, I got a good feeling about that series, I just think we're finally going to win there. Anyways, first things first, gotta beat Detroit.
  14. I love the NBA draft moreso then the NFL draft, unfortunately it's on around the same time as the sox game(6:30) so I'll watch the first few picks and then have to watch it during commercials of the game.
  15. Have our ace to stop our HUGE losing streak. GO SOX!!!!!!!
  16. The meltdown thread wasn't as bad as I thought either, I think and I hope some people are starting to realize that every time this team has had a bump in the road they just rise to the challenge and shut up all the pessimists for a while. I think we get atleast 4 of 6 on the road trip, I think maybe even a series win at Oakland.
  17. Freddy's awesome, like it's been said both teams should come away pretty happy but that trade was and still is a no doubter for the sox, Freddy is a top of the line starter and we resigned for a very, very reasonable price.
  18. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 11:08 PM) What makes you think Sweeney will be better, what have you seen from him to make you think this? Well there is a couple of things: Obviously right now Ryan has displayed no power but I think within the next year or two he should fill out a bit more and add some power and what also is going to help is getting out of the met, Sweeney might not ever have a ton of power but he'll hit some homers in my opinion. The main reason though I like Sweeney over Anderson is just his swing to be honest. Sweeney has one of the beautiful smooth swings. His bat just comes through the zone flawlessly, obviously this is jmo but I do think Ryan will be a better player a few years down the road.
  19. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 10:01 PM) "Top prospects may be on the move Contending clubs might deal Minor stars for big-league talent" http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article...t=.jsp&c_id=mlb How in the hell does Arnie Munoz have any trade value? Arnie has some trade value because he still has a chance to be a valuable bullpen arm in the near future and as far as untouchables go, I guarantee we have none at the minor league leve, including bmac.
  20. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 10:32 PM) I always see around here sweeney> anderson. Why is that, because he is younger? Anderson > sweeney in my opnion and it's not really that close. This is just my opinion but I think Sweeney will be better but as of right now you're exactly right, Anderson is the better player.
  21. QUOTE(AirScott @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 07:45 PM) .230 BAA, 4.41 ERA, 86 hits and 42 walks in 100 innings for Zito this year. his ERA and walks are a little too much, but is sort of tied in to the fact that he gets zero run support. I'm sure if we brought him here, he'd do fine, and here's why: in his 16 starts, he has left the game with his team scoring 1 run or less 6 times, and 2 runs a few more times (I'm tired of doing research, I just got home). I don't understand what you're getting at. Zito's era is still way to high, what does run support have to do with that?? Like Kalapse said Zito just isn't worth it with the package we'd have to give up
  22. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 07:39 PM) I believe Timo has options left. He does.
  23. QUOTE(DMoneyIsMine @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 07:24 PM) Barry Zito. Supposedly an extremley nice guy, gets along with everyone on his team and would add nothing but a sure fire ace to go along with an already solid rotation. Let's not forget the guy is a former Cy Young award winner and is only 26 years old. Seems like the kind of person who wouldn't effect the chemisrty of this ball club, and basically would add a great talent to this already solid Chicago White Sox team. If they add a Barry Zito, how great. Could you just imagine? Whoo Kenny! This team would be smokin' Zito sucks.
  24. QUOTE(chisoxfan14 @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 04:18 PM) yes! He lets me hug him! and he's always singing! He's just an awesome dude! He is so sweet! Didn't see this one coming
