  1. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 01:46 PM) I don't see anything wrong with a purpose pitch in baseball. If you want to hit someone, don't hurt them. I wouldn't want to see Lee miss time because one of our guys injured him. I guess I am a purist when it comes to that kind of stuff. Derrek Lee is a player I really respect on the Cubs and I don't want to see him injured he's just having to special of a year Cubs or not. That being said this series we better make him feel uncomfortable in the box cause he's the one guy in that lineup we can't have beat us.
  2. QUOTE(shakes @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 01:37 PM) That's a good point, I still hope we don't pitch to him. If he's up in a key situation he better be pitched around.
  3. Alright well hopefully DLee should be up with nobody on today, he's got Patterson and Perez in front of him a .280 and .312 obp respectively.

  5. QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 09:17 PM) This isn't a WS-caliber team yet. They're right. Kenny Williams needs to make it one. Bull. Right now this really is the best team in baseball it just seems people even here didn't expect them to do this so some of you guys just aren't sure. That's perfectly fine but as of right now there is not a more complete team in major league baseball then the Chicago White Sox. Obviously I'm not saying they're for sure going to win the world series but they are the best team out there right now, no doubt about that in my mind.
  6. Hey if Dusty will leadoff Patterson because Corey told Dusty he's ready to leadoff then maybe he'll give DLee 3 days off. Ok, maybe not but I can dream can't I??
  7. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 01:07 AM) Nobody is saying the pitching doesn't have a large part to do with this. I'm just saying that Pods fills a niche on the team that Carlos never could. Bingo. That's a pretty cool sig heads, you make that yourself?
  8. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 01:03 AM) Idonno Iguchi has had to change his hitting aproach so much and than take some pitches that he might actually hit better without Pods in front of him. What most people dont realize is until I guess June came around our offense stunk and the reason we have been winning games have been thanks to outstanding pitching. If our pitching was this good last year we would of been just of good as a team if not better... I disagree with both counts. Our offense didn't stink we were around the middle of the league the whole year in runs scored and with the way the team got clutch hit after clutch hit the offense was absolutely fine. The pitching has been great no doubt but it just hasn't been the pitching, the defense and offense have been a part of this team as well, no doubt.
  9. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 01:01 AM) = ? Wow, that's scary.
  10. QUOTE(TheHammer @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 12:28 AM) If we could trade Pods for Lee and keep every other player the same we would be better this season I believe. Not a chance my friend, not a chance.
  11. QUOTE(Jimenez4MVP @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 01:26 PM) Lee with another HR today as well.. Lee wasnt the problem in the past, it was our pitching.. Lee was part of the problem sure the pitching was part of the problem as well but it wasn't just the pitching. Those lineups were so inconsistant and Carlos was a huge part of it, I know his numbers always finished up fantastic but the number of times he'd pop out in a key situation on the first pitch was ridiculous. I wish Carlos the best, he's a great player but your kidding yourself if you think we'd be better off with Carlos rather then Scotty this year.
  12. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 01:26 PM) Does anyone know AJ's history with Jason Schmidt? I know Tomko has it out for AJ, but what other Giants pitchers "hated" him, if any? If Schmidt/AJ's relationship was good, that could lead to something happening... former battery-mates seem to hook up if they get along, and I guarantee KW is looking into that. Matt Herges, just him and Tomko.
  13. Eye of the Tiger-I love that song.
  14. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 10:23 AM) I had family obligations first and they used them up. That's the way it should be.
  15. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 10:19 AM) We're having good success trading with Milwaukee. Pods/Viz for Caballo has been very fair for both sides. We ran away with that Jamie Navarro for Pornstache/Eldred. God, your sig is awesome. Anyways, ya this trade has worked out tremendously for both teams, Pods and Carlos have both been awesome and I hope they both continue.
  16. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 10:03 AM) But there will be plenty of Cub fans.. I know a lot of Sox fans that sold their tickets to Cub fans. I didn't... but when they are willing to pay what amounts to 1/4 of your ticket package it's mighty tempting.. You can always sell you extras for tomorrow's game to me Ya, i know what you're saying though, last year was my first time at Sox-Cubs games and there were a ton of Cubs fans, to many......
  17. QUOTE(SouthSidePride05 @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 09:56 AM) Anyone have any extra singles for tomorrow? I just found out I have off work tomorrow! But that means I would have to go solo since my friends have to work. I'm also curious.. how did fans get tickets to this series, and when did they sell out? I'm under the impression that you had to buy a 9-game or more plan in order to get Cubs/Sox tickets. So will US Cellular be packed with Sox fans who bought those packages?? I hope there's less Cubs fans this year, but I've seen a lot of Cubs fans in attendance at the Cell, and maybe they're the ones who bought a 9-game package. Ya, 9 game package or higher to get tickets for this series.
  18. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 09:50 AM) Philly must really be feeling the heat right now. I just dont see them as a contender this year. They're leading the wildcard as of right now in the nl so they are contenders. Maybe Kenny is looking at Schmidt but if Kenny really wants him he'll get him, no doubt about that in my mind.
  19. QUOTE(Cubs Suck23 @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 09:31 AM) Im listening to the radio here in SF and on XM radio Jayson Stark said that Larry Monroe was scouting Jason Schmidt performance last night Anymore info then that or was that all he said???
  20. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 09:40 AM) We need an arm in the pen, that's priority #1. Unless there is a super-duper star ace starter available....and I don't see that out there. Schmidt has been that though and it looks like he's reverting back to that form. I agree another arm in the bullpen should be a priority, however if Shingo continues to throw the way he has his last few outings then imo a bullpen arm really isn't needed cause we'll have 5 studs basically down there with Viz
  21. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 09:16 AM) Prospects??? Why is anyone even mentioning keeping prospects. Look at the two that we traded for Freddy, seems we lucked out in that deal. Prospects are not proven, not a sure thing, but this season is starting to look like one. This might be our one chance to take this team to the promised land. Should we sacrafice that for a small chance that one of our propects might be an ok player in the future. Hell no, trade em all, trade em now, we have more. Anderson might never have a spot for him until 2 years for now, trade his ass. BMAC is good, but there may be better behind him, trade him. Trade everyone, I want to win NOW. This is the best team any of us have ever seen, do you want to waste it? I sure as hell dont. Olivo the guy I was actually the most depressed to see go has been horrendous but Reed has been decent and Morse has been real good so far, however yeah we easily won that deal imo cause you can't find many pitchers like Freddy. For the most part I agree with you and knowing that Schmidt has a team option for next year I'd make a deal for him in a heartbeat he has a 16 inning scoreless streak right now and he's starting to get it back to the form that made him a cy young candidate for the last few years. Schmidt is a great, great pitcher and the Sox have some money left to spend for this year so why not use it to bring in Jason. Then because he has a team option for next year then you figure out what to do with him next year when next year comes.
  22. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 08:45 AM) So, he's like countless other experts who the Sox are making look foolish. Yup, but for the most part he's as good as an analyst as there is around baseball.
  23. Ozzie doesn't recieve grief?? Good one Dusty.
  24. Out of that list, Oswalt by a large margin and then Schmidt.
