QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 01:45 PM) I think thats a great idea, he needs some work. Ya, as of right now I'd like to see Shingo get some more work, the last few times out he's started to get his junk over and if he does that he'll be effective again. -

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 01:42 PM) I think he can finish it, he will throw nothing but strike next inning, he has a lead and he knows it. I personally wouldn't push him, let him pitch the 8th and bring in the gong show to finish it off. -

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 02:03 AM) The "caught stealing" stat doesn't include "pickoffs." You're correct, I'm a little out of it right now
-
QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 07:19 PM) I am sorry but podsednik has been caught way too many times on the base paths this year. I am not just talking his caught stealing but all of his pick offs ( 7 or 8 i believe now and not even have way through the season? Sure he is effective but not at a very good rate. Even though this does not seem to be the general concensus i think he ''presence'' has been overated. Btw i know basically no one is gonan agree with me on this. He's still 36 for 45 stealing bases which includes pickoffs so that's still a pretty good rate. I do agree though that's he's been picked off a bit to much for my liking but that's cause he's trying to make things happen. I don't even think you could argue the fact that when he's on base the pitchers seem to focus all their attention on him rather then the batter which has helped Gooch out so much this year.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 01:52 AM) Stupid ESPN. Just can't trust them for anything
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 01:43 AM) He's not having his best season, but still splits of .276/.334/.397 aren't the worse, a little bit better than Willie Harris last season, but not as good as Scotty this year. Just goes to show you how good of a year Podsednik is having really. .281/.357/.325. I think you got Scotty's stats from the end of yesterday. He's currently at .289/.363/.332

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 01:39 AM) Kotsay isn't haven't a very good season but then again, no one on the A's is. I was just looking at his stats as well, however with the cubs when you have Neifi Perez and his .307 obp leading off for you Kotsay would be a god send. EDIT: Also with the yanks they have womack hitting 2nd and playing left field, I don't know his stats off the top of my head but I know they aren't pretty.
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 01:36 AM) Kotsay would be a perfect fit here if we didn't have Scott Podsednik. Beane loves him though, and was working on an extension for him. If anything, the Yankees are probably going to end up with him or Johnny Damon if they both hit FA. But we do have Scott so he wouldn't be the perfect fit Kotsay would be a very solid pickup for the Cubs but it's not going to be Corey Patterson that gets it done, like has already been said Patterson is basically the anti money ball type player.

If any of you guys missed the game they're replaying it right now on CSN.

Howell was one guy I would have loved to see the Sox draft last year just because I thought he was the most polished guy in the draft outside of Weaver but they definitely rushed him to the bigs. Still the Sox have to be careful because Howell could dominate if the Sox let him get in a groove early. -
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 12:59 AM) Stop dissagreeing with me. I see what you're saying. But nothing leads me to believe that we won't take atleast half of our remaining games with them. If we're up 10-12 games by the time we play, it's a wrap. I'm just hopin we get homefield to go along with the divison title. Hell, like I said I believe the sox are going to win this thing, I guess I just refuse to write off the Twins cause those guys just kicked our ass when it has counted the last 3 yeras, obviously this is an entirely different team and I expect the Sox to beat up on them this time when it counts but ya I guess they'll always just scare me. Also I'd love to have homefield throughout as well, especially cause it'd be scary as hell to play the Angels in California more times then they'd have to play at the Cell.
-
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 12:42 AM) I don't know man. Our schedule is rather soft the next few weeks. If we get this thing to 11 or 12 games by the break, I think the race is over. I do believe we're going to win the division don't get me wrong there, I'm just saying I don't think you can officially call the race over even if we are 11 or 12 up which is a huge lead no doubt about that but we do play the damn twins 13 more times. Each to their own though
-
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 12:37 AM) We seriously might put the division away by the all-star break. It's getting to the point that the only thing we might have to play for is homefield advantage through out the AL playoffs. Jordan, a 9 game lead is a very nice cushion but the division won't be wrapped up until september for anyone just because we still play the Twins so damn much.

QUOTE(3E8 @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 10:05 PM) Maybe this house was built with glue? Haha, in April every single "expert" and almost everyone else but a lot of fans on this site thought we were a fluke but what do you know they were wrong.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 09:44 PM) I am glad i didn't get all down on dye's offense the first couple of months. Lot's of people wanted his balls chopped off and gave him a cute nickname ''dead'' All that i really expected from his was .260-.275 and 30 or so homers which it looks like he will be giving us. The one conceren i had about him offensively was how he has hit right handers the past three years, but i felt playing here that should change. I have to also admit i never liked his defense even before we got him. His range was just too poor to me and how he nearly plays at the warning track gets old. His defense has been piss poor... all that i ask from him is hit the cut off man. His defense has definitely been worse then I expected, he's hitting exactly the way I expected, but he's exceeded my expectations with his baserunning, he's been much better on the base paths then I thought he'd be.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 09:15 PM) You have to look at ERA, WHIP, strength of schedule, run support and team success. Wins and strikeouts are extremely overrated these types of situations. Garland is the favorite right now simply because of his wins and the national attention he is getting. Based on performance thus far Buehrle is a better choice than Garland. Halladay should start the All-Star game as of this moment. You hit it on the nose, I agree 100 percent with everything you said.
-
Halladay and Buehrle have been the two best pitchers in the al this year, however Halladay has been a bit better and because of this he should be the starter. As I've stated before I'd prefer neither Mark or Jon pitch in that game but I'm sure both of them will.
