Sox first round pick
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 01:46 PM) I hadn't read about this yet, but I just found out that if the Sox had won one more game last year, then they would have been picking 16th. Only the top 15 picks in the draft are protected, and if we had the 16th pick, we would have lost it when we signed Hernandez from the Yankees. Thus, I guess we can appreciate something that Grilli did for us! Sorry if this had been discussed already, just thought it was something interesting. Ya, it was talked about a lot in the offseason fathom but that kind of got lost in the shuffle considering everything that happened in the offseason. It's definitely something to appreciate though that can and did get overlooked at times.

Fast Rising Broadway Selected by White Sox
Cerb, fantastic article. I was in L.A. during the draft and all I was able to find out was that the Sox selected Broadway, I appreciate all the work all of you guys did on the draft, it's really got me caught up pretty quick on everything.

6/12 Game Thread - Garcia vs Lawrence
This is the type of place I expect Freddy to absolutely dominate in, hopefully he will and the offense will score enough runs to take 2 of 3 from The Pads. EDIT: Guess I should change my avatar, huh?

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 02:44 AM) Once again, I would just like to voice the fact that I am the ORIGINAL Neal Cotts backer, no matter what others may say. (And that means you Qwerty) Pssh, you got away with that bs while I was gone dbaho but now that I'm back you know I'm the biggest Neal backer around

Well I assume Dustin blew the save last night, I've been in Cali all week so I'm kind of lost on what's been going on, I was just getting the scores and a few updates from my friends. Was this just last night that Dustin got hit or has he been getting hit hard all week??

The Colorodo series.
QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 03:15 PM) That's what I wish too. I don't mind playing the Cubs or Reds one bit. And I miss playing the Brewers just like old times. I can see why they wanted to go out of the region so that the Giants and Dogders could play the Yankees, and other games like that. But still I just prefere the Central vs. Central also. I'd love to get back up to miller park to see the sox play there, that was a good time a few years back.

6/5 Games
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 09:19 PM) Anyone else think that Gio's season this year could be a carbon copy of B-Mac's from last year? Everything but the call up to Birmingham, they won't let him get there yet but everything might be close.

06/05/05 Game Thread vs. Cleveland
QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 01:49 AM) Dude Games will come and go. Graduations are only so many. You should go to the graduation. Life is too short....enjoy your sucess. Congrats. What are you graduating with? And what do you plan to do with the degree? I appreciate man, but it's a high school graduation, basically making it pointless imo and a waste of time, and cause me to miss the game.

QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 12:52 AM) You better not EVER complain about attendance since you are prioritizing your freaking graduation over a Sox game I know you were being sarcastic but trust me I want to be at the game not at the f***in graduation, unfortunately my parents love this bulls***.

Tribune article about Frank's attitude
QUOTE(ChiSoxFan @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 12:02 AM) 5 bucks says another journalist from a rival paper in the city writes a similar article on Monday morning. This would be right up his alley. Just a hunch. ...and then sports radio catches on and then the National Media and all the sudden everyone hears on ESPN that Frank is causing problems.

Tribune article about Frank's attitude
Horrendous journalism. Frank Thomas gets such a raw deal for doing absolutely nothing wrong, it's unreal at times.

I'm going to miss this game because of my god damn stupid ass graduation that I wish I didn't have to go to. Hopefully Buehrle will do his thang and the Sox can get to 20 over. f***IN GRADUATION :puke

Notes: Harris' days numbered?
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 11:39 PM) Well, Mercker's b****ing at Steve Stone and Chip Carey was pretty lame. But here are the contract details for each of them... Joe Randa 2005: $2.15 million Kent Mercker 2005: $1.25 million 2006: $1.35 million They are both doing very well with the Reds and their cheap contracts would make them great trade targets. We would fill both of our holes (3rd base and lefty reliever) and solidify our team. That would be worth Willie and a prospect in my opinion. I agree with you.

Notes: Harris' days numbered?
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 11:34 PM) A perfect trade for us would be Willie and prospect(s) for Randa and Mercker, except for Mercker's clubhouse crap with the Flubs last season. How can you not have problems in that clubhouse??

Notes: Harris' days numbered?
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 10:47 PM) LOL. You said Timo himself won us two games this year, when, the game he hit the homer in Minny, we went on to score three more runs after the homer. Yet, I guess if Timo hadn't hit that homer, we wouldn't have scored any runs, huh? And, if he doesn't f*** up at first base, we sweep Anahiem. Timo sucks. You're gonna blame Timo for being thrown into a position he's never played before, cmon now, the same thing happened to Ross last year too. Oh yeah and if it wasn't for Timo we might have lost 2 of 3 to Anaheim.

Frank Article
QUOTE(Brian @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 07:34 PM) Exactly. Frank is my idol, but we can't pay him $10 mil next year. Right, that's while they'll try and get a new deal done. It'd break my heart to see Frank in another uni.

Notes: Harris' days numbered?
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 07:31 PM) The same Ozuna that can't hit the ball out of the infield? I like Ozuna's hustle and enthusiasm, but he's nowhere close to being a MLB caliber hitting. The funny thing with all of this is that by no means am I a Willie Harris fan. However, I get pissed when I see that our manager's personal feelings for a player (Timo) screws with his decision making when determining what's best for our team. The same Ozuna with a .349 obp and yes I know willie's is higher but Pablo is perfectly capable being the backup 2nd baseman imo.

Notes: Harris' days numbered?
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 07:26 PM) So who's our back-up 2nd baseman? Do you really want Ozuna facing a tough righty if Iguchi has the day off? I think ozuna is perfectly capable so yes that'd be fine with me, actually.

Frank Article
Frank needs to stay, period. I think he'll be around on a new deal most likely.

Strange event at the game
QUOTE(ptatc @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 07:22 PM) I sit in the left field bleachers and have worked innmuerable baseballgames. The starting pitcher as near as I can remember always long tosses with the starting catcher in the OF before the game. Today Garland long tossed to Man Soo Lee while AJ warmed up with Art Kuysner. Garland stood next to Art while AJ was next to Man Soo. Does anyone recall seeing this before? Is there animosity between Garland and AJ? I just don't recall seeing this before and was curious. Nah, I think they're fine, I've seen it done before this year.

Notes: Harris' days numbered?
Guys, it was obvious this was going to happen, Ozzie likes timo because he's one of the best bunters we have and stats or not stats Timo's been a clutch hitter and yes this year too. He's been bad this year no doubt but with the few hits he has he'd had some huge ones, the homer vs minny, the bases loaded bunt and of course the hit on memorial day. Also he just had a countless number of clutch hits last year. I personally think it's the wrong move because I think willie is the better player however this move won't kill me either way.
