  1. Lets see Widge is batting over .300, Willie and Ozuna have been doing exactly what they have to do minus willie's bad last week and conveniantly they left Everett off the list. Don't get me wrong Lugo's a solid player and I wouldn't mind him at all but I actually like our bench.
  2. QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 12:51 AM) His walk rate is cause for concern but his ERA is very misleading he gave 7 runs in the first game of the season and only 4 ER since. Has his control been any better as of late or is he still having a ton of issues throwing strikes? The thing I'm really worried about if this happens is his mental stability I hope he's matured enough that if he has a bad outing or two in the majors that he won't lose it again.
  3. QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 12:42 AM) Lots of rumors that after the Barons First Half ends on Sunday that Bobby Jenks will be on his way to the bigs and Casey Rogowski up to Charlotte which then will allow Villcais to maybe come of the DL or Wasserman to be promoted and Leo Diagle to be called up from Winston-Salem Wow, very interesting I assume that would mean goodbye to shingo. Wow, I'm kind of speechless. I've wanted to see what Bobby could do but do you think this is a little early BHAM or do you think he's ready?
  4. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 12:34 AM) The problem with Shingo is that he can't get his one good pitch, the frisbee, over the plate. Then he gets a 3-0 count and has to throw his weak sauce 85 MPH meatball over the heart of the plate. Without good control, Shingo is worthless. Agreed but he can all the sudden find his release point and get back to what he did last year kind of like Brower can do, I'm just not sure if it's worth it to pick up one guy who could pick it up just as Shingo could do. Unless it's a sure thing it doesn't make sense imo to mess with the current crop especially when it comes to shingo.
  5. Here's the thing Jabroni everything you said about Brower can be said about Shingo except the 94 mph fastball of course. Anyways I'm not sure it's worth it to mess with the roster for a guy who might find his way back kind of like Shingo. Obviously now if Kenny thinks he found something in his mechanics that is fixable or thinks he knows what's wrong with the guy then that's a different story.
  6. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 10, 2005 -> 12:27 AM) If we can get Danks signed, I'm very much inclined to offer Anderson, Tracey and say Wes Whisler up for Adam Dunn, and see what the Dan O' Brien thinks about that. They need young starters BADLY, and we're pretty well stocked with em, so something could definitely happen there. And of course there's the whole Eric Milton thing. I guess O' Brien didn't go to Offering Big Contracts to Bad Players 101. That's one heck of a package there DBAHO, I don't think the Reds would find a much better package anywhere else. Anyways I'd still do that trade getting Adam Dunn would be outstanding, that being said Pauly is going to be the first baseman this year and the outfield is set as well. As long as Dunn remains a red for the remainder of the season look for him to be talked abot a ton around here in the offseason.
  7. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 05:32 PM) There was one other player in that deal too. I believe Long went to San Diego as well not 100 percent sure about that one though. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 10:35 PM) I'm pretty sure San Diego got Terrence Long in the deal as well. But he's with the Royals now. Kid can't even read :headshake
  8. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 10:42 PM) Jermaine Dye vs. Righties - .239/.276/.419 Carl Everett vs. Righties - .218/.294/.403 White Sox vs. Righties - .244/.306/.382 What we really need is a LHH outfielder who can actually hit better against righties, but I'm wishing for the best of both worlds. I think Carl's starting to get it going left handed, his last few games he's been very good left handed.
  9. QUOTE(soxman35 @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 11:25 PM) What do you say to some stupid friend of your that is a cub fan and will not stop talking about the cubs? I want to let him have it good what do u guys think i should say to him to get him to sit down and shut up Unless they're starting s*** with you I wouldn't even say anything. If someone says something to me I just say 42 and 20.
  10. Meh, whatever I think aj just started wearing the contacts recently. He's hitting below his career average right now and the reason for his power ouburst is U.S. Cellular Field, period. Just check out how many homers he's hit at home this year.
  11. It'd definitely be cool to see the Nats win that division, that being said I still expect the Braves to do it just because they're the braves even though I think Florida is the better team.
  12. Unfortunately Contreras doesn't have a ton of wins but he's pitched like an allstar, period.
  13. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 05:59 PM) Even if Vizcaino turns it around, I still feel like we need another quality reliever. Unless the trade blew my mind, I wouldn't trade Everett. If we're going to get a reliever, we might as well package up some minor league talent and someone like Harris (since apparently he doesn't get along with the team, and he's not nearly as important as Everett). Everett has been clutch this year and he just flat out produces. He can spell the outfielders perfectly and still probably play 4 or 5 games a week. I'd definitely love to keep Carl around. As far as our pen another reliever wouldn't hurt no doubt but if we can get Viz on track then we'd have 5 pretty reliable guys which is pretty solid.
  14. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 05:52 PM) I'm not saying I want to trade Carl but he is starting to light it up. He is now hitting .270 with 8 homers and 40 RBI's while playing semi part-time so far this season. He is also showing that he can still play both corner outfield spots. His trade value is rising to both A.L. and N.L. contenders now. If Frank shows that he can stay healthy and be the everyday DH, I think Carl could bring a good reliever in a trade. I'm not saying I want to trade Carl. It's just some food for thought. Time will tell. The beauty is we're in no need to rush into a trade because everything at this point is going well. If Viz can get himself backon track who knows maybe another reliever won't even be needed. One thing is for sure though Carl could definitely help a contender somewhere, it is very rare however that you see contenders trade with each other, though it does happen
  15. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 05:34 PM) Props to the bullpen. Real nice job by everyone, Cotts, Viz, and Politte. Go get the D'Backs and the Doddddddddddd-gers on the homestand! It would be absolutely huge if Viz can keep it going.
  16. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 05:28 PM) Was the trade between the Padres and Athletics Kotsay for Hernandez, straight up? If so, pretty good deal for both sides, even if Hernandez might not stay with San Diego. I heard from some Pad fans that he wants Varitek money... There was one other player in that deal too. I believe Long went to San Diego as well not 100 percent sure about that one though.
  17. AHH, A THING OF BEAUTY, WHITE SOX WINNER!!!!!!!!!1
  18. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 05:23 PM) Yeah -- f*** the "closer". Go with who's pitching well -- today, that's Politte. Stick with Cliff, and if he shows no command in the second inning, get Hermy in there. Ozzie did a good job right after Shingo showed he couldn't be closer anymore, he'd go with Marte/Politte/Hermy, and not a set "closer". He needs to get back to doing that. Play the matchups, f*** the "closer". He plays the matchups so goddamn much in the 7th and 8th innings that he never has the option to do that anymore. I personally like Dustin closing it out but I could careless who closes as long as they get it done, whether it's Dustin, Cliff, or Damaso.
  19. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 05:20 PM) Do we counter with Hermanson in the bottom of the inning? Does Ozzie go with his gut and stick with his closer-by-committee thing or are we seeing Dustin trot out? I'd trout dustin right back out there but that's just me.
  20. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 05:18 PM) and boom goes the dynamite. DJ needs to incorporate that into his homerun call, UH OH, UH OH AND BOOM GOES THE DYNAMITE, now that would be a homerun call.
  21. QUOTE(kman @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 05:18 PM) tight s*** was it a bomb/no doubter or did you have your doubts? It was killed.
  22. AAARRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN
