1st and 3rd, nice job by tad to just keep that in the infield.

Sizemore singles. I hope our outfielders are careful that outfield looks dangerous.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 02:12 PM) I heard Viz has lost some speed on his pitches, think he was on the juice? Problem with Viz is he's just got slider happy, his fastball still has a ton of movement and good velocity on it, he just has to use it more imo.

QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 02:21 PM) great, great thread. yeah this season hasn't been perfect, but this is about the best it can get. We have to enjoy where we're at right now Yeah sure we can criticize, but don't overly do it. Don't forget this fact.....we are the best team in baseball right now. Try and keep that in your head. Yup, no doubt. The thing is everyone on this site loves this team so much that every loss hurts a ton, everyone just has to learn to keep things in perspective and realize one game or one mistake isn't going to kill this team even though those things hurt to watch for all of us here.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 02:03 PM) HAHA! FOX just showed Buehrle doing the slip-and-slide on the tarp. Gotta love Mark and Man Soo also.

QUOTE(TheBlackSox8 @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 08:41 PM) How about a $100,000 or a MLB title(whitesox)? Easiest question I've ever had to answer in my life. White Sox world series title, no doubt. -
QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 10:33 AM) IMO it has one hell of a lot more to do with the Twins playing great baseball lately. They are an over .600 team, 12 games over break even. Everyone knew Minnesota would be really good and they're proving it. I would love to see the White Sox pull away as much as anyone but the fact is both teams are very good and it will be a battle. Ya, no doubt the Twins aren't going away. The Sox are going to have to beat them cause the Twins won't beat themselves.

QUOTE(SHAFTR @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 01:53 PM) Here is a possible, although not probable option, trade for Billy Wagner. It gives us a true closer and makes the game at the most a 7 inning game, maybe 6. That's been talked about a lot around here, problem is all the sudden the Phils are only 2 games back.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 10:10 PM) Marte>>> cotts and i am not even a cotts hater. Once marte gets hot his ugly peripherals will go away and he will be back to the same old marte. What we have to remember is he is back to throwing that 94-96 mile an hour fast ball... something he lacked part of last year and early on this year. He really does need to work on his control issues though. He is our version of hernandez out of the pen ( at this point anyway). I'm probably the biggest Cotts supporter on this site but you're absolutely correct. Damaso has his stuff back and recently his control has been much better. Neal's going to be one of the better relievers on this team there is no doubt about that in my mind, however Damaso is still by far the best lefty we have in the pen.

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 01:09 PM) Update Minimum: 55 IP 1. Pedro Martinez 0.71 WHIP 2. Roger Clemens 0.86 WHIP 3. Jake Peavy 0.92 WHIP 4. Brett Myers 0.94 WHIP 5. Jose Contreras 1.14 WHIP 20. Josh Beckett 1.15 WHIP 20. Kenny Rogers 1.15 WHIP 20. Javier Vazquez 1.15 WHIP Newcomers in the Top 20: Carlos Zambrano, Mike Redman, Aaron Harang, Roy Oswalt, Jose Contreras, Josh Beckett, Kenny Rogers, Javier Vazquez. Randy Johnson fell from #11 overall to #33 overall with the quickness. There are no Yankees on this list right now. The White Sox have three starters in the Top 20...no other team has that many. The Twins, Cubs, Marlins, and Astros have two apiece. I am still dumbfounded by what Brett Myers has done this year. Who woulda thunk that Jose would be up there. Obviously he's very hard to hit but with the amount of walks he usually issues you'd think there would be no chance for that. Well, he's been absolutely fantastic this year, hopefully it continues.

It's nasty here by me about 30 minutes north of the cell. They'll probably be a delay in this game but I don't expect it to be washed out.

White Sox FINALLY send 9 men to the plate?!?
Rowand44 replied to RibbieRubarb's topic in Pale Hose Talk
For all the criticism the offense has gone through they're still 15th in baseball in runs scored and have basically come up with every clutch hit when they've needed to. The ba and the obp aren't great but you don't win games by having great stats, you win games by getting the clutch hit when you need to get it. Besides the last 7 games of the recent road trip the offense has been consistantly scoring 5 runs a game and that's exactly what we've all wanted for the last few years a consistant offense. -
QUOTE(beck72 @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 06:18 AM) Cotts is also getting regular work. Early in the season, he'd go 5,6 games w/o throwing [though with the SP's going deep into games, it was hard to find work for him]. We have to consider that this is only cotts' 2nd season pitching out of the bullpen. Vets have a hard time staying sharp, going a while after not throwing. The sox will ride his hot hand and hope guys like Marte, Viz and Shingo get on track That's been his biggest problem all year, as long as he's had regular work he's been awesome. If he pitches on 1 day rest he has a 0 era, if he pitches on 2 days rest he has a 1.13 era. As long as Ozzie finds regular work for Neal he'll be one of our better relievers.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 01:06 AM) I thought Ozzie ball was supposed to put us up there, not at the dweller of these stats. Ozzie ball is supposed to produce wins which is exactly what it's doing. -
Sox R us, it's so ridiculous that you make all these attendance threads. You're b****ing about people not going to the park when you never go, just think about what you're saying. If you want people to go to the park then get your ass to the park and I don't give a s*** if you live on the west coast, that's your problem. You want the attendance to go up then put your ass in a seat at the cell, if not just shut up about this already.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 01:47 PM) It's fascinating reading all this venom for a fringe OF who has such a small role on the team. Personally I think the whole bench situation will be shuffled very soon. A lot of people turned on him this year, last year he was actually pretty loved by mostly everyone on this board and there were a few(GHC, qwerty, aboz) who never liked him to begin with but besides them mostly everyone here liked him. He hasn't been good this year, no doubt but the few hits he does have, have been pretty big( homer again the twins, bases loaded bunt, game winning hit against the angels) and yes I know he couldn't hit a sac fly to win the game vs. Detroit a while back but that's really the only time he hasn't produced under pressure and many others have done that. Don't get me wrong I think Timo should be the odd man out because I think willie and pablo add much more to the team then Timo does but I definitely don't think he's as bad as most but that's jmo and I'm not trying to start an argument here because I know everyone disagrees with me.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 05:29 PM) I saw this question posted on some other board and I'd like to see what most people would say. 5 bucks or WNBA title in Chicago (or wherever you live)? Honestly, and I thought about this for a little while, I'd take money. 5 bucks. -
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 05:00 PM) So let me get this straight. The "rumor" supposedly came from a caller on a radio show or someone on a message board saying Ken Rosenthal said it was a deal being discussed. Rosenthal was emailed and said he had no knowledge of said rumor. BB said it was BS. Chavez said it was BS, and that he did not want to play in Chicago. KW didn't say it was BS but said he isn't trading the main ingredient of said deal, therefore making it BS, and there still are people here that think this rumor still has validity? It's a valid rumor because it makes sense for both parties. You're kidding yourself if you think there is nothing to it just because the parties involved say nothing is going to happen, of course they're going to say that, what would you expect?? Now don't get me wrong I'm not saying a trade is going to happen but just because Chavez says he's not going anywhere and kenny says nothing is going to happen means absolutely nothing.

QUOTE(BobDylan @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 05:49 PM) I would have failed out of high school if I didn't cheat. I think I speak for nearly 95% of the student body when I say that. I didn't do a single hw assignment in high school by myself.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ May 31, 2005 -> 01:04 PM) Should have been the 2000 manager of the year. His Ghandi ways would have worked nicely with the young kids. Maybe good old JM will get a shot with cinci when Miley gets fired. I think he was in the running when Miley got the job. I'd like to see him get another shot, no doubt. He was to laid back as a manager for me but he really wasn't that bad and was a great guy, hopefully he'll catch on as a manger somewhere.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 07:34 PM) Does anyone have ESPN Insider? I heard that Buster Olney's latest blog has the Eric Chavez to the White Sox rumor in it. It basically just mentions the rumor and says how it would make sense. -
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 06:44 PM) Agreed. Total speculation here but maybe Huff's numbers are down because he got off the juice? I still see no way that the Devil Rays would trade Huff for old, fat Dmitri Young just because he is the older brother of one of their top prospects. Huff's a great hitter and he always starts slow, his numbers will be real good again at the end of this year.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 04:39 PM) Solid our of the pen? Neal Cotts, the left handed pitcher from the whitesox. The minute he learns to throw strikes consistantly, maybe get a left hander out or dont s*** himself silly when a bit of pressure is applied we can revisit the "he is solid out of the pen and we can use him as a spot starter" I'm not getting into another Cotts argument, I've said my piece on him and I'm leaving it at that.
