Mets/LAD/NYy interested in Alexei, according to Levine
Rowand44 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 6, 2014 -> 03:11 PM) Also, these same teams are interested in Chris Sale. And Jose Quintana. Because f*** it, we have to publish something. It wasn't reported so you don't know that. -
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 6, 2014 -> 01:50 PM) Their playoff success with this team isn't exactly inspiring. Again, not saying they aren't a good team, they are, but they can't play D when it counts and that is a huge issue. I don't consider them a title contender.

It's just way too early to tell with a bunch of these teams especially the Bulls and Cavs. I think SA is the favorite as of now because why not but there are certainly teams out there that can beat them including Chicago and Cleveland.
-
Oh ya, both the Cavs and Bulls have a long way to go. The Bulls have at least been winning(against awful teams but wins are wins) but they certainly don't look great yet. That said, I agree with everyone that as much as I b****ed about the front office in the offseason, I'm really starting to warm up to this roster. If we're healthy in the playoffs, we got a chance.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 6, 2014 -> 10:46 AM) Since we do not know the 2015 roster, how can you say this team is at least one season away? The White Sox don't make the playoffs very often, but a couple of times when they did, they were just about as bad as they were in 2014 the previous season. The 1999 team won 75 games. The 2007 team won 72 games. In 1976, I know, baseball was a lot different, the team was awful and lost 97 games. The 1977 Southside Hitmen won 90. That can get you in the playoffs these days. In 1989 they won 69 games and won 94 in 1990, and it wasn't all because Frank Thomas. He came up in August. As did young Alex. Robin Ventura wasn't exactly ripping the cover off the ball either. They need to acquire a hitter or 2 and a few pitchers, maybe get someone who can catch the ball, and need some guys to develop, but it has been done before. The way it is now, you have a .500 roster, but can win one extra game a month, you are right there. I agree with all of this. -
Steroids or not when Gagne was in the middle of that streak he was one of my favorite pitchers ever to watch. He just made hitters look silly.

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Nov 6, 2014 -> 01:12 AM) I hate to toot my own horn and I know it's still very early in the season but I'm on record here as saying I don't believe the Cavs will be a contender this year, heck I'll be shocked if they make it to the ECFs. Just because they added LeBron and KLove, in my opinion, didn't make them the East's favorite. I still believe KLove is overrated (go ahead and sue me) and so is Irving. They'll improve later on this season but they can't touch the Bulls, IMO (health considering, I'm looking at you Rose). LeBron to Miami was a whole different situation, there he joined a top 5 elite former FMVP and a proven PF, all being overseen by one of the NBA's greatest minds, the godfather Pat Riley. OTOH, Cleveland has an unproven NBA coach and Cleveland is still Cleveland. The Cavs are not contenders THIS year. BTW, let me be the first to give props to the FO, I know it's the cool thing to rag on them but they've quickly built a deep team that has legit shooters, defense, post offense, rim protection, rebounding and top tier talent. Health is really the only issue with this team but that's something they really can't control. I especially want to give props acter the whole Carmelo episode, I was one of the few Bulls fans who didn't believe Melo was serious about coming here and frankly, I didn't want him, I hate his ISO game to be honest. Let him stay a loser in NY but keep getting them checks, to quote the wise Jalen Rose... You're really going to toot your own horn after 4 games? Ok. I'll be the first one to give you props if they don't make it to the ECF's. But once again, no chance that happens.

So this McDermott not getting any minutes after a killer first half last night is kind of bizarre. EDIT: see he got 2 fouls in his 5 minutes so I'll shut up now.

I'm really against moving anything of value for CarGo.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 5, 2014 -> 03:19 PM) I would be okay with Castro but I'm not giving up a ton for him. Yup.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 5, 2014 -> 02:14 PM) I don't remember the last time a Bulls player was questionable and actually played. So I would imagine the line up is going to look like last night. Jimmy Gets Buckets was having a slight problem with his thumb last night. So that injury isn't fully healed either. 4 games in 5 nights after 3 games in 4 nights is a crazy way to start the season. I don't know why the NBA does that to teams at the start of the season. I know it's just no us, a lot of teams are going through that crap.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 5, 2014 -> 12:15 PM) This. Most of us think his chronic injuries started with the tearing of his ACL in the playoffs. I think many forget, he missed 27 of the 66 games that season with various injuries. I am a big DRose fan, and have always thought he can get back to what he was. But I must say, this, and I know they are doing the smart thing using caution, is getting discouraging. He is turning into the Ken Griffey Jr. of basketball. I get the comparison but Griffey was way more accomplished before he started to go down all the time.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Nov 5, 2014 -> 10:23 AM) I'm not going to complain about Rose sitting out but until he actually shows he can stay on the court for more than a few weeks at a time I'm going to be really skeptical that he will actually be healthy come playoff time. This is where I'm at. I don't care how many games he sits out in the first part of the season but unfortunately I have no faith in him to actually be on the court come playoff time. I just want a fully healthy Rose and Butler out there together.

Brothers buckets doing it up so far.

Rose out tonight.

Good ending. Kind of sucks that the last two guys to get real hot with the crowd had to go film a movie during that.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 3, 2014 -> 12:33 PM) 3 of the 5 preseason All-Americans are from Illinois. Guess how many play for Illinois? All 5. -
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Nov 3, 2014 -> 12:40 PM) If they wanted this to be exciting, it could have been if they added Terry Tate, Office Linebacker into the equation. Half way through the walk, Tate tries to Goldberg Spear tackle him off the tightrope. Then the question isn't who would watch that? It's who WOULDN'T? But this? This was a very experienced, well trained tightrope walker walking a tenth of a mile per hour across a cable. Let me know when you start making television, I'll be watching.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 3, 2014 -> 12:26 PM) Also, the "thank you God for giving me this gift," "God put me on the Earth to do this," etc. crap was annoying. No, moron, God did not select you personally to walk on a damn cable for a living. I always hate that crap but so many athletes and people like this dude do it so I'm almost immune to it at this point.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Nov 3, 2014 -> 11:48 AM) I found this incredibly boring. I did too. I guess in hindsight I'm not sure why I thought it was going to be exciting.
