2014 AL Central catch-all thread
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 29, 2014 -> 02:35 PM) Let Oney and Ozney become Twins fans. Their behavior sitting behind the White Sox dugout hoping the White Sox finish last ( I was sitting right behind them) about a month ago was shockingly (sarcasm) classless. If they want to hate the White Sox, fine. But don't go to USCF and sit in White Sox house seats for nothing, and do that. The Guillen kids would never be classless, that's an outrageous claim.

2014 TV thread
QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Sep 29, 2014 -> 02:17 PM) I never thought I’d see the day were Stewie Griffin said “eat my shorts” and Bart Simpson said “What the deuce?”. How was the episode? I've been over both shows for a while but I do want to see that episode.

QUOTE (The Critic @ Sep 29, 2014 -> 01:50 PM) CM Sandow (or DS Punk) would be hilarious. It'd be so terrific but I think they'll stay away from it. Hogan's there tonight...oh joy.

Cue meltdown in 3...2...
I'm not worried about it because I don't think it's going to happen but I'm definitely not a fan of bullpenning Rodon for this season. We need starting pitchers, if he's going to be on the Major League team, he should be starting.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 29, 2014 -> 01:08 PM) A really disappointing thing about yesterday is the offense really was humming along until Bennett couldnt break the plane. I really do think he broke it but somehow we had no good camera angle to confirm that.

Let's Grade the Players, Coaches, Hahn for 2014
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 29, 2014 -> 12:00 PM) That particular trade didn't work, but as has been discussed a zillion times, the philosophy behind the trade is valid. I fault Hahn less for that one. Oh I completely agree. I was extremely happy when that trade was made as that was the exact type of deal that I wanted him to make but Davidson was obviously awful this year so I can't rate the trade a success even though I love the thought process behind it.

Let's Grade the Players, Coaches, Hahn for 2014
QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 29, 2014 -> 11:46 AM) We lost 89 games. Team has pathetic bullpen and defense. It's going to be very hard to fix the defense. It really is. You guys are kind graders IMO. Yes he deserves eternal praise for Abreu and Eaton. How could Hahn get an A? You have to remember that he didn't build the team from scratch so you can't just base his rating off of the Sox win-loss record. I'd personally probably give him a B because I feel like there were a few things he could have done a bit better and Davidson being god awful didn't help things but overall he had a pretty good year.

I really wish I could be at Raw tonight, always interesting to see how the crowd is going to be. I want CM Sandow to happen so bad.

Barring Gostkowski outscoring Ridley by 20 tonight, I'm going to be 4-0 in my main league for the first time ever. I'll also be 3-0 in my leagues these last 2 weeks. Still just waiting for everything to fall apart.

2015 Pen thoughts
QUOTE (scs787 @ Sep 26, 2014 -> 04:36 PM) Well then..... Chicago White Sox @whitesox 6m Nate Jones said he feels great after surgery & that his back and hip also feel good. He hopes to begin throwing the week before Thanksgiving ....So much for him being out all/most of next year?? No idea how the recovery on that works but it'll be interesting to see what the velocity is like.

2014 MLB catch-all thread
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 26, 2014 -> 03:23 PM) I think if you transplant the 7 world series and 5 championships and all the other post season accomplishments the talk is still pretty high. Chipper always got a lot of credit....just add 4 world series championships and it would be a heck of a lot more, imo. Did Maddux get any less credit because he spent the majority of his career in Atlanta? Fact that Jeter handled the spotlight made things crazier but its hard to put his career elsewhere because not many guys have his post-season accolades. Chipper and especially Maddux were much better players than Jeter and they get no where near the attention he gets. Once again, I have nothing against Jeter, he's a definite HOF no matter where he played but the media definitely overrates him, there's no doubt about that. Just like the angry mob of internet fans underrate him.

QUOTE (shysocks @ Sep 26, 2014 -> 03:13 PM) My whole point is, take Jeter's career and transplant it to some other city. That is a hall-of-famer and a legend when you throw in all the postseason accomplishments. It is not somebody that 12% of the people voting in a dumb poll are calling one of the 5 greatest players ever. That's all I'm saying. And you're absolutely correct. I think this is a fair take.

2015 Offseason
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 26, 2014 -> 01:57 PM) I wouldn't write off a guy like Johnson yet, any more than I would Davidson. But in both cases, they need to come out guns blazing next year, or then I do start to think "bust". I haven't given up on Davidson because I don't think his skillset deteriorated, he was just plain awful this year. I've given up on Johnson because if his stuff is where it was last year then he's just not a good pitcher.

QUOTE (shysocks @ Sep 26, 2014 -> 01:38 PM) Presented without comment Regular season: .309/.377/.440, 8.6 BB% 14.6 K% Postseason: .308/.374/.465, 9.0 BB% 18.4 K% Yeesh that's kind of crazy how similar they are. I guess when you're in the post season so damn much your numbers tend to even out, still crazy though.

How great of a playoff performer was he actually? Serious question as some great moments tend to overrate these guys that get labeled as "clutch" or whatever...

2015 Offseason
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Sep 26, 2014 -> 01:00 PM) I don't because it really seems like his stuff declined, rather than him simply failing to put it all together. Had to be an injury. Ya he's done unfortunately, unless his stuff magically comes back of course.

Finding a LH/Switch hitting OFer
QUOTE (scs787 @ Sep 26, 2014 -> 10:43 AM) Also worth throwing out there, if it hasn't been already, Q ranks 9th among pitchers in the whole league in WAR. That almost feels a little silly to me, but it's true. He's nearly 2 whole points ahead of Shields who is probably about to get paid 3x as much as Q is being paid. Yup. A big reason why a lot of us think it makes 0 sense to trade him especially with our lack of starting pitching depth.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 26, 2014 -> 02:44 AM) I have never understood the Jeter hate. He basically is hated, not by what he does, but because of the perception the media likes him too much. Personally, I wish he had his first ballot HOF career with the White Sox. I've never hated Jeter cause I don't hate the Yankees like a lot of people do but this week has been rather annoying. That said, we all knew it was coming so oh well.
