  1. 15 year, 350 million dollar contract for Chris Sale.
  2. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 02:32 PM) Cistulli remains obsessed with Semien, there's some cool video of him here: http://www.fangraphs.com/not/otgraphs-vide...-if-chicago-nl/ Love this: MikeS says: July 31, 2013 at 12:54 pm I think he has just been ignored because he walks far too much to be considered a member of the White Sox organization.
  3. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 03:28 PM) More like an Incomplete if you ask me. This is the correct answer. Don't get me wrong, I would have loved to move Alex for the right package but who knows what other teams were offering. At least we have a new starting of for next year and lets see how we reinvest the Peavy money before we give this deadline a grade.
  4. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 12:21 PM) Of course he should be on the team. And, for now, he should be the starting 3B. The emergence of just about anyone as a 3B prospect would certainly relegate him to a bench role. There's no reason for him to not be on the team. I never said he shouldn't be on the team and he should absolutely be starting for the rest of this season. The guy isn't a starting caliber player though and after this year should not be the starting 3b on this team.
  5. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 09:45 AM) Dayan, Avisail, De Aza, Beckham, Gillaspie, Phegley - That's not a bad young core to start building around. Get one or two of Semien, Wilkins, Sanchez, Trayce Thompson, Brandon Jacobs and you're doing pretty good. Hopefully Dayan and Avisail really figure it out, because they both have some insane upside as 3-4-5 bats Gillaspie shouldn't be starting on this team after this year. He's not very good.
  6. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 12:13 PM) If you are worried about a team giving up more value than they receive, it's Detroit you worry about. I'd say the Sox did fine in that regard. Ya, Boston is the clear winner in this deal bit who the hell cares?
  7. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 04:33 AM) Sorry don't get what's wrong with toolsy . Some of the best baseball players of all time had many many tools. Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Mickey Mantle just to name a few. You're picking out a word like toolsy , before that it was grinder. It's catchy and easy to dismiss or joke about when those guys don't work out . What do you say about all the other minor leaguers who don't work out ? Many kids these days play multiple sports we're lucky the athletic ones chose baseball over football and basketball but don't hold it against them that they are big and fast and athletic or play football too. People are skeptical because this organization has been enamored with "toolsy" outfielders for years now and have yet to develop one. Obviously Garcia is his own animal here and needs to be judged as so but I definitely understand why people would be worried about acquiring a player like him.
  8. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 02:03 AM) Alot of posters sleeping on Montas. Kid might be the gem of this trade if he can harness his control. Really, really like his arm. Can you really see him making it as a starter though? I wouldn't be shocked if he makes it to the majors because of his arm but I'm sure it'll be as a reliever.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 11:42 PM) So who are the Sox going to build around now that Peavy is gone? I really believed Hahn yesterday Would have been Rienzo if he wasn't such a damn liar. Need a guy with good character to be the leader and will our team to wins.
  10. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 11:32 PM) Why does everyone think DET got hosed? They just improved their infield defense -- their biggest weakness by far -- by about 200%. They're the team in the Majors that needs offensive production from their SS the LEAST. I definitely get where you're coming from but I just don't think Iglesias is going to be able to hit at all, certainly not enough to be an everyday ss. Giving up your 2nd best prospect and allowing a potential playoff opponent to get a lot better as well just doesn't make too much sense.
  11. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 11:30 PM) Rick Hahn sound on 670 in a minute. If you could provide a summary I'd be much appreciative.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 10:46 PM) Semien only reaching base in 6 of his 7 ABs The most exciting part about him is how well rounded of a hitter he is. He walks, he hits for power, kids does it all at the plate at the moment.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 11:12 PM) I'm also feeling no worse than a top 3 pick in the draft now Did you see Rienzo pitch today?!?!? We're not going to give up an earned run the rest of the season.
  14. Very meh trade to me. I'm not extremely happy about it and I'm not angry about it. Garcia should be fun to watch and we did get some talented guys in the lower levels, though if I had to guess out of all 3 we probably get one major league reliever out of it. Anywho, also frees up money for more possible deals as bucket seems to be hinting at. We'll see what happens.
  15. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 10:23 PM) I do not like Avisail Garcia. Just want to say that. He can prove me wrong, but everything about him seems like classic value driving. Never put up good numbers in the minors over an extended period of time. I DON'T LIKE YOU
  16. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 10:05 PM) Is Garcia really all we get This place would burn down(can an internet forum be burned down?). Anywho, better be more than that.
  17. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 10:00 PM) Pawtucket game was over...and Middlebrooks finished it. Don't you Rienzo me
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 09:55 PM) So now Sox are getting Iglesias? lol who knows. this is awesome and awful.
  19. Just got done watching "This is the end"--good movie, so I missed Bradley getting pulled, Iglesias getting pulled, anything else?
