  1. QUOTE(Brian @ Nov 25, 2006 -> 12:49 PM) He knows he is though and they joke about it. P.S. Fix your sig. Tough crowd. Fixed.
  2. November people, November.
  3. BTW, I just want to say that Lou Holtz just might be the biggest homer espn has ever had on their network, and that's saying something.
  4. So our game tomorrow is at noon on espnu which of course I don't get at home. And the thing is, I doubt any of the sports bars are going to have the game on with football and such. Anyone have any suggestions?
  5. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 24, 2006 -> 07:17 PM) Row, they're still mid-majors. What does that make Iowa State then? QUOTE(thedoctor @ Nov 24, 2006 -> 04:34 PM) well, i think most people would refer to the valley as a mid-major league. does that mean it isn't good or isn't a great league? nope. does that mean they can't compete? nope. i never said that. what i said is big ten teams have had bad losses in the early season to teams from mid-major leagues that they were favored over. i didn't intend it to be a moratorium on how the mvc stacks up against other leagues. and yes, i know missouri state is a good basketball team. but going into that game who would have been favored and expected to win? missouri state a good team, or wisconsin which returns a bunch of players, was regarded as the best team in the big ten outside of ohio state, and is currently ranked in the top-10 (not for long, tho). i think most people would have selected wisconsin. instead they lost, which was another bad loss for the big ten. I understand where you're coming from and I really didn't intend to make this into an argument, which I did . Anyways, the point I was trying to make is that the losses those teams have besides Penn State aren't bad at all and wont hurt any of those teams come March. That is all. And I'm a little sensitive to the whole valley, mid major thing I guess you could say.
  6. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Nov 24, 2006 -> 03:42 PM) but mid-majors nonetheless. i didn't specify whether they were good or bad. indiana, minnesota, and wisconsin were all favored in those games and lost. as did penn state. again, not a good early season portion of the schedule. my bad on iowa. Well I guess you can keep calling the Valley a mid major but that league has proven that they can play with anyone. And as far as being favored, Marist and Southern Illinois are both better teams than Minnesota so I didn't see the lines for that game but I certainly wouldn't consider those upsets. And Wisconsin lost to one of the best "mid majors" around. Missouri State is a very good basketball team. Off the top of my head, the last year and a week, the MVC has beat: LSU, Wisconsin, Iowa, Indiana, Pittsburgh, Kansas, and Tennesee, not to mention a 1 point loss to Illinois last season. You can call the Valley a mid major all you want, but this conference can compete with anyone.
  7. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Nov 24, 2006 -> 03:16 PM) not a good early season for the big ten so far. indiana, minnesota, wisconsin, iowa, penn state all going down to mid-majors. expect that list to grow. Indiana, Minny, and Wiscy all lost to real good mid majors. Iowa hasn't lost to a mid major, they've lost to Bama and Nova who are both pretty solid teams. Penn State is the only one on that list with a bad loss.
  8. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Nov 24, 2006 -> 02:07 PM) So Wisconsin lost to Missouri State today? Nice... Good chance Marquette is top ten after this week. Yup, Mo State is a very solid club that no one really talked about for whatever reason. They got snubbed out of a tournament appearance last season, it'd be pretty shocking to me if they some how dont get in this year. They got a very, very good team.
  9. 69 to 53 final. Very solid 2nd half, Matt Shaw was just phenominal, hopefully Va Tech takes care of business tonight and we'll get to play them on Sunday. Nice day for the Valley so far. QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Nov 24, 2006 -> 01:56 PM) So does SIU's offense just completely suck ass or what? But I have to admit, their defense is sick. This team will get better offensively and it started in the 2nd half today(though Minny blows). We got a few players on offense that can be real effective but are afraid to be good if that makes sense. Matt Shaw can honestly be a star but he needs to be aggressive and today he was, I'm not sure what got into him but I hope we see that Shaw for the next two years. Didn't hesitate on any of shots and just looked fantastic today. We got things to work on offensively but we'll be better than most think especially if Bone can come back(rumor is he could be ready by conference play).
  10. Matt Shaw decided he wanted to be aggressive today. This guy can be an absolutely superstar if he'd just take shots. Absolutely awesome today Matt
  11. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 24, 2006 -> 01:14 PM) -So. Ill is one of the best defensive teams in the country, no doubt. That said, their offense is just as bad as their defense is good. If they plan on making any noise this year against major teams, their simply going to have score more than they are now. Right now, I would put them behind Wichita State and Creighton and maybe even MSU. We're bad offensively but not that bad. We played like total crap yesterday, we'll be better than that, I guarantee it. Josh Bone will also be huge for us, if he can come back.
  12. QUOTE(Brian @ Nov 24, 2006 -> 12:50 PM) Am I allowed to take back my Matt Shaw love, but give it back if he starts playing better? Ha, go for it. He's frusterating, he's got all the talent in the world but he's afraid of the basketball.
  13. QUOTE(ptatc @ Nov 24, 2006 -> 12:30 PM) He is Justin Fuermeyer the Skinny white point guard Gotcha. Hopefully they can hang on. Yuck. We continue to look like fecies this tournament. Up 7 at half.
  14. Missouri State taking it to the Badgers at the moment. Hopefully they can hang on. And we're about to start our game against the Gophers, we should win this one with ease but it'll be a close game cause that's what we do. And I am a bit nervous since yesterdays game was very physical, so we might not have our legs under us. GO DAWGS
  15. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 23, 2006 -> 12:01 PM) Interesting that you have WVU over Va Tech, I think it's pretty much a lock that Va Tech makes the championship game but I guess we'll see. Anyways, this turns out to be a good thing. If we can beat Minny today(god we better win this game) then we can get Va Tech in the 5th place game, which could turn out to be a good win come March.
  16. We're slowly but surely climbing our way back into the playoff race. Really, this team just needed some solid play out of the quarterback position to wake the hell up and that's what Harrington has been giving us. It's still going to be real tough to make the playoffs because of the awful start but right now I like our chances in any game.
  17. That game hurt and was frusterating. Obviously losing Falker and Shaw at the end of regulation hurt us, Tatum has to make those damn ft's though. We played like total crap and still should have won. This team will be fine, but this loss did hurt.
  18. Arkansas can not score on us in the half court. We got to stop turning the damn ball over and we'll win this game. Pretty frusterating first half. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 23, 2006 -> 11:44 AM) Hofstra plays Hawaii tonight in the Great Alaska Shootout. What a disapointment they have been. They have top 25 talent but have yet to win and with losses at Charlotte and at Manhatten. Two tough places to play, but two places they should have won at. Also, anyone look at the GAS bracket this year. How horrible. Remember when this tournament was on the level of the PNIT, CvC and Maui? Old Spice Classic also tips of today. It's funny how the championship is being played as the first game of the tournament, So. Ill vs. Arkansas. Anyway, Some quick picks: Arkansas over So. Ill Marist over Minnesota Va Tech over W. Michigan West Virginia over Montana So. Ill over Minnesota Montana over W. Michigan Arkansas over Marist West Virginia over Va Tech Minnesota over W. Michigan So. Ill over Montana Va Tech over Marist Arkansas over West Virginia Whoever wins game one of this tourney will end up taking the tourney, I do believe. Marist is an interesting team. They have a ton of talent, and it will be interesting to see how well that talent translates against big-conference teams. West Virginia lost A TON, but they'll be better than most people think. Interesting that you have WVU over Va Tech, I think it's pretty much a lock that Va Tech makes the championship game but I guess we'll see.
  19. 20 MINUTES TILL GAME TIME GOOOOOOO DAWGS!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. QUOTE(ptatc @ Nov 23, 2006 -> 10:10 AM) My nephew plays for MSU. They are psyched for that game. I don't think they can come close to hanging with Wisconsin but it should be fun. Can I ask what your nephews name is? I bet they'll play close, I don't think they'll win(certainly wouldn't shock me if they did win) but I'd bet on it being a competitive game.
  21. Hope everyone has has a great day and a great dinner. I'm actually usually not a huge fan of the holiday as I don't like turkey that much but I'm excited today because of the Saluki game and Dolphin game. That's what thanksgiving is all about, right?
  22. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Nov 22, 2006 -> 08:24 PM) I've seen you play NCAA. Pass. LOL, I'd have to kick my own ass if I'd actually coach like that.
  23. Butler about to take out Tenn. So Butler has 3 bcs conference wins already, to start off the season 5 and 0.
  24. QUOTE(Brian @ Nov 22, 2006 -> 05:52 PM) Yes! Watching SIU basketball instead of Detroit and Miami...priceless! Glad we're out of the Anchorage tourney. If we lose at all this weekend, it is still a quality loss, if there is such a thing. P.S. Wake up before 11am, bum. I will have been up and back from the gym by then. I'll probably be setting my alarm to like 10:50.
