  1. QUOTE(knightni @ Nov 27, 2006 -> 04:43 PM) Is Texas a pitchers or hitters park? Hitters.
  2. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Nov 27, 2006 -> 04:34 PM) I'm not entirely blaming Williams. He can ask for whatever he wants, but if no one gives it up, what can he do? I just find it ridiculous how we're going to receive fair value for one of our starters, yet everyone knows full well if it were Williams trading for one of these starters he'd overpay. It's almost mind-boggling how, in this market for starting pitchers, we couldn't expect ONE f***ING TEAM to overpay for one of our starters. It's ridiculous. You just wonder, where's the Psuedo Kenny Williams out there? Where's the person willing to trade top prospects? I love it how suddenly every general manager is using their heads in these deals. He hasn't done anything yet, calm down their buddy.
  3. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Nov 27, 2006 -> 04:30 PM) Would only make sense Williams trades one of the top prospects in baseball for Vazquez, yet this offseason -- when pitching is overvalued in the market -- we'd receive s*** for one of our starters. Did Kenny s*** in your salad or what? Him and Broadway must have stabbed you in the eye or something.
  4. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Nov 27, 2006 -> 04:19 PM) If this deal went through, there would still be other possibilities, mainly because you'd still have the excess of starting pitching. For example, you could make a pitch to New York about ARod -- as a starting offer, Buehrle + Fields. Or you could make a pitch to Toronto about Vernon Wells. This deal would not signal the end of the winter for the Sox. It'd give us a lot of possibilites, that's for sure. If the Sox really do want to get rid of Anderson you can then use him as a trade chip, Figgins in center and Sweeney in left(don't want this to happen but just saying).
  5. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 27, 2006 -> 04:12 PM) Heres something to put in your brain for a second. We complete this deal. We sign Rich Aurilia for the next year or two while fields gets ready for the MLB level. Now are we a better team? Not a fan of Rich Aurilia and as I said we still have a nice trade chip available if we make this deal as we still have 6 starters. If Kenny wanted he'd be able to pry at least a decent 3b away from somebody I'd think(think Hank Blalock).
  6. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 27, 2006 -> 04:09 PM) But you are still getting rid of a GG caliber player at a crucial defensive position. Lf isnt nearly as important defensively as 3B. This rumor reeks of someone trying to drive up the demand for Freddy. I agree with that, but as much trouble as Fields might have at 3rd, I don't think it'd be as big of a downgrade as Figgins would be an upgrade in left. Anyways I hope that would all be moot as I don't want Fields starting, and we'd still have a huge trading chip to upgrade 3b at that point.
  7. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 27, 2006 -> 04:06 PM) Losing Crede would hurt this pitching staff and this team more than most people think. If this deal is completed then Fields starts at 3B for us next year, Figgins most likely in CF or LF and leading off. The real question is can we then flip Vaz or Mark to someone for another prospect, arm or a 3B. And is this deal better than picking up Millege from the Mets without having to give up Crede. I don't want Fields at all starting at 3b but just for this, say he does, then you downgrade big time at 3b defensively but you're upgrading big time defensively in left.
  8. I do this in an absolute heartbeat, if we can get Ervin Santana that'd just be humungous for this franchise going forward. If something like this happens Figgins is our left fielder, the end, I don't even want talk about him playing 3rd. We make this deal and we still have 6 starters, meaning we can net even more young pitching or even a deal for a 3b. I'd be very, very happy if we can pry Santana away from the Angels.
  9. Yeesh. No respect for the Dawgs. We're going to have to have to run the rest of our OOC sched to make it to the top 25 me thinks. I can't believe we got a whole 2 votes in the ESPN poll, very interesting. EDIT: And where the hell is Missouri State in the ESPN poll, NO VOTES?!? They beat Wisconsin and lose to a pretty good Okie State team in OT and they get no votes? Man, the more I think the Valley proves itself, the less it seems to get respected.
  10. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 26, 2006 -> 12:45 AM) We are not to lose to them. If we do, it is a massive disappointment, as it is anytime we have. Well considering UNI is the better team, you shouldn't be disappointed if you lose.
  11. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 25, 2006 -> 10:48 PM) ISU now takes on UNI, Drake, Iowa and Savannah State. I'm going to be disappointed if we don't start off 10-0 before big games with Bradley and Ohio State. You're underrating UNI, my friend.
  12. SHOCKERS WIN!!!!! Back to back days with top 10 wins for the Valley, absolutely awesome. Hopefully Bradley can take care of Illinois tonight and hopefully we can take care of Va Tech tomorrow.
  13. 2:29 left, Shock and Tigers tied. GO WSU!!!! 1:04 left, WSU up 2 with the ball. CMON SHOCKS
  14. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Nov 25, 2006 -> 03:13 PM) Nobody on our team is as bad as BA at hitting breaking pitches. Hell, he has a weird little habit when a curveball comes in where he leans backward and thrusts his crotch over the plate. A ton of young hitters have a hard time hitting a breaking ball, it's just a hard pitch to adjust to. He might never be great at hitting one but give him some time. One year does not a career make(unless you're Sarge Jr. )
  15. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 25, 2006 -> 02:48 PM) My onscreen guide shows no SIU game. Tomorrow at noon, it's a tournament game so the teams wouldn't have been scheduled. Creighton almost blows it but hangs on for a 2 point win. Now I'm hoping the Shocks can some how beat LSU.
  16. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 25, 2006 -> 02:44 PM) I've got the U, Row. Can ya make it here? Can you pick me up?
  17. Mo State and Okie State going to OT. Cmon Bears, pull another one out!!!
  18. QUOTE(Brian @ Nov 25, 2006 -> 12:49 PM) He knows he is though and they joke about it. P.S. Fix your sig. Tough crowd. Fixed.
  19. BTW, I just want to say that Lou Holtz just might be the biggest homer espn has ever had on their network, and that's saying something.
  20. So our game tomorrow is at noon on espnu which of course I don't get at home. And the thing is, I doubt any of the sports bars are going to have the game on with football and such. Anyone have any suggestions?
  21. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 24, 2006 -> 07:17 PM) Row, they're still mid-majors. What does that make Iowa State then? QUOTE(thedoctor @ Nov 24, 2006 -> 04:34 PM) well, i think most people would refer to the valley as a mid-major league. does that mean it isn't good or isn't a great league? nope. does that mean they can't compete? nope. i never said that. what i said is big ten teams have had bad losses in the early season to teams from mid-major leagues that they were favored over. i didn't intend it to be a moratorium on how the mvc stacks up against other leagues. and yes, i know missouri state is a good basketball team. but going into that game who would have been favored and expected to win? missouri state a good team, or wisconsin which returns a bunch of players, was regarded as the best team in the big ten outside of ohio state, and is currently ranked in the top-10 (not for long, tho). i think most people would have selected wisconsin. instead they lost, which was another bad loss for the big ten. I understand where you're coming from and I really didn't intend to make this into an argument, which I did . Anyways, the point I was trying to make is that the losses those teams have besides Penn State aren't bad at all and wont hurt any of those teams come March. That is all. And I'm a little sensitive to the whole valley, mid major thing I guess you could say.
  22. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Nov 24, 2006 -> 03:42 PM) but mid-majors nonetheless. i didn't specify whether they were good or bad. indiana, minnesota, and wisconsin were all favored in those games and lost. as did penn state. again, not a good early season portion of the schedule. my bad on iowa. Well I guess you can keep calling the Valley a mid major but that league has proven that they can play with anyone. And as far as being favored, Marist and Southern Illinois are both better teams than Minnesota so I didn't see the lines for that game but I certainly wouldn't consider those upsets. And Wisconsin lost to one of the best "mid majors" around. Missouri State is a very good basketball team. Off the top of my head, the last year and a week, the MVC has beat: LSU, Wisconsin, Iowa, Indiana, Pittsburgh, Kansas, and Tennesee, not to mention a 1 point loss to Illinois last season. You can call the Valley a mid major all you want, but this conference can compete with anyone.
