  1. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 06:46 PM) WGN Radio had a clip of Ozzie running his mouth about how Brandon is going to AAA, because he doesnt want to pitch out of the pen and he has no right to ask to pitch in the rotation. Ozzie needs to learn how to keep his top lip and his bottom lip together more. Ozzie must be getting twitchy now that KW might trade his relative. Ozzie can shut up. He needs to go back to AAA.
  2. Aaron needs to retire or something.
  3. QUOTE(mmmmmbeeer @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 02:27 PM) When Mark is rolling, he's rolling. When he's struggling, he's struggling...it might be for 2 weeks, it might be for a month, it might be for 3/4 of the season..but he's always come across to me as a streaky pitcher. It's just an observation of mine and I'm not skilled, nor bored enough, to dig through statistics to prove my observation. The context of my statement was built on the premise of a long term deal. I think Freddy, due to the ability and initiative to adjust his game when struggling, is a better candidate and investment for a long term deal. Freddy was a power pitcher, he's got a whole other style to fall back on, namely deception and control. Mark was never a power pitcher and already relies on deception and control. So if, like last season, he loses that control and deception, what does he fall back on? He's got nothing unless he learns a knuckler from Haeger. Edited to add, give me Freddy in a big game over MB. That alone is worth a contract. It took Freddy 5 months to make adjustments and I still don't trust him at all. He had like 3 or 4 starts in September that saved his season from looking like a total disaster. Mark absolutely stunk the 2nd half of last season but I see no reason why he wont bounce back. He's easily the better long term commitment imo.
  4. QUOTE(mmmmmbeeer @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 02:17 PM) IMO, y'all overvalue MB. There's no way in hell I'd offer him 5/65. $15m a year for a guy with so many innings, so dependent on control over stuff, so streaky? I know many will disagree, but I think Freddy is a much better pitcher than MB and I think it'd be a mistake to let Freddy go while signing mark to a 5/65 deal. Neither of them had their best stuff last year but Mark atleast started the season pitching well. When he lost it, he lost it. He was horrible and I saw few adjustments on his part to make things improve. Freddy never had it last season and yet completely adjusted his approach to compensate for his loss of velocity. Hell, he even learned a new pitch which paid instant dividends. How is Mark streaky? He's had one bad season and that was last year. Mark is younger and has better career numbers, how is Freddy better?
  5. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 10:00 AM) Politics. ^^^
  6. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 12:42 AM) I have just a few more fun Scott Podsednik stats before I call it a night. Out of all the players in major league baseball last season who had atleast 465 ABs and 12 SB (35 players) only 3 had a lower OBP than Scott Podsednik's .330 (B. Phillips, J. Barfield, Pr. Wilson.) Out of all the players in major league baseball last season who had atleast 465 ABs and 12 SB (35 players) only one player had a lower SB% than Scott Podsednik's 67.8% (T. Hunter.) Out of all the players in major league baseball last season who had atleast 465 ABs and 9 SB (54 players) only one player had a lower batting average than Scott Podsednik's .261 (A. Everett.) Out of all the players in major league baseball last season who had atleast 465 ABs and 9 SB (54 players) only two player had less total bases than Scott Podsednik's 185 (A. Everett, W. Taveras.) There's more but I'll end it right there. Out of all players last year who played the outfield, he is the only player to prance around to get to a ball instead of hussling and getting underneath it.
  7. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Dec 4, 2006 -> 11:31 PM) Sarcasm. I wasn't so sure as people have actually believed what he said
  8. It'd be a fantastic surprise if we can re-sign Mark. Trade Freddy.
  9. QUOTE(supernuke @ Dec 4, 2006 -> 10:57 PM) I can't Believe the Sox will be the only team with someone who can't get on base 40% of the time in the lead off spot. .
  10. Kansas players like to fall down.
  11. Badgers are going to win it. Good effort by the Eagles.
  12. Winthrop and Wiscy heading into OT.
  13. Brian Anderson>Aaron Rowand.
  14. The Cowboys have definitely become the most overrated team in the NFL.
  15. A couple of interesting games tonight: USC is at Kansas, who the hell knows which Jayhawks show up. And the game that really intrigues me is Winthrop at Wiscy.
  16. QUOTE(danman31 @ Dec 4, 2006 -> 01:36 PM) How is WSU still behind LSU in both polls? Even worse, they are one spot behind them in the AP. They won at LSU and haven't lost to anyone, how is LSU the better team? Who knows.
  17. New rankings out: UCLA number 1 in both polls. WSU up to 10th in the ap, still only 16th in the coaches poll. Butler 14 in ap, 15 in coaches. SIU gets 30 votes in the ap and 22 in the coaches. EDIT: And looking at the polls more closely, how the crunk did Depaul get votes?
  18. QUOTE(whitesox1976 @ Dec 4, 2006 -> 01:14 AM) Trading Joe Crede would be the dumbest thing that KW could do. I'd like to hear an explanation as to why...
  19. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Dec 4, 2006 -> 01:12 AM) We play 'Cuse and West Virginia early in the New Year, and to my knowledge, we're off at least until January 15th, if not the week after that. Other than that, it's a buch of mid majors (UMBC, Oakland, Morgan State, and Savannah State) and some away BE games (@ Providence and UConn). I'll willingly make the drive up for the 'Cuse and WV games, though -- and maybe I'll try and make it up for one of the mid-major games, although that's doubtful. Wanna come with me to Carbondale on the first?
  20. So just a random question but for you students: any home games over break that piss you off that they're over break? We play Wichita State and Missouri State over break at home and I'm really ticked about that. And I also know that Illinois has OSU over break. So anyone else with big home games over break?
  21. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 4, 2006 -> 12:50 AM) Of course Florida will get beat up, Just like they were going to get "exposed" against Arkansas?
  22. So I'm watching an interview with Sosa on espn right now. How can he do an interview? I thought he couldn't understand English?
