Garcia to Philly for Gavin Floyd and Gio Gonzalez
QUOTE(quickman @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 10:49 PM) Yes and another thing, Mcarthy has not proven a damn thing. He could pitch like crap next year. He most certainly won't win 18 games. Why does everyone think Mcarthy is so great. He has not proven anything. he had a few good starts two years ago. Rex Grossman had a few good starts this year. so what. Gio will be the replacement for cotts in the pen. Is he better than cotts? NO. So how are we better? we are not. Gavin floyd, what a joke. Brandon will pitch better than Freddy did last season, now will he win 17 games? That depends on the offense.

Garcia to Philly for Gavin Floyd and Gio Gonzalez
I'm thinking Gavin is going to be in the bullpen as the long reliever: Bobby, Thornton, MacD, Aaaaaaaaardsma, Boone, Gavin. That would be my guess as of right now.

Garcia to Philly for Gavin Floyd and Gio Gonzalez
There honestly needs to be more to this. Gio and Floyd are both attractive pitchers(yes Floyd still has value) and I'm thinking/hoping that Gio gets traded in another deal to get something back with Floyd then rounding out our pen for this year. The problem I really have is I wanted to get some top young arms back and I'm just not that high on Gio. Definitely not happy about this. Hopefully there is more to this. For the time being, Kenny has lost my trust. EDIT: I kind of regret putting that last line in there. I'm not thrilled about what we got back obviously, but I still trust Kenny to make this team a contender, every year.

No More Mack In Center
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 04:17 PM) The only thing I remember about Everett in CF was a game-saving HR robbing catch in a Buehrle-Mulder matchup at home in August. Oh god, Carl was probably the worst cf of all time coming in on balls, it was horrendous. EDIT: As far as Brian and Mack, they were basically the same offensive player in the 2nd half, you add in the defensive problems of Mack and you realize how ridiculous it was for Mack to be playing so many games out there.

Soriano/Ramirez traded!
Clever though Alfonso Soriano can't be traded.

Steve Phillips....c'mon now
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 03:32 PM) That's some great logic. Good logic or not, Bonds will never sniff jail.

QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 11:26 AM) I have to disagree with you here. Hirsh is a big time pitching prospect, and I doubt the Astros would give him up. I actually agree with Fathom about Hirsh.

QUOTE(SnB @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 01:19 AM) don't get your hopes up, you know he's going to say something incredibly stupid soon that will get him in the national media. What social group does he go after next? I say pet owners. People who dance to hippopotamus songs.

Rumor:Garcia to Philles for Arow + Madson/Floyd
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 12:18 AM) Can we please close this thread? C'mon Jason, Kalapse, Greasy. Anybody with the power. This trade proposal makes me literally sick to my stomach. Well I could have but since my name wasn't mentioned, I will not.

Washington State beats the Zags by 10. UCLA ended up blowing it open in the 2nd half against Gage's Titans.

No More Mack In Center
Thank god. "Give me all righties, as long as they're good. Give me all lefties, as long as they're good," Guillen said. "I don't want to have a lefty just to have a lefty. Ok Ozzie.

Arizona is something like 1 for 16 in the 2nd half. This Louisville-Zona game is just disgusting.

LSU takes down A&M by 12. Now that win at LSU looks even better for the Shockers which will look better for SIU when we beat WSU.

A couple of other games to note: Purdue continues to impress, they beat a real good Loyola team quite easily. And UIC absolutely blew out NIU, I was very surprised to see that.

Ok State takes down Cuse and UNI played one of the worst 35 minutes of basketball you'll ever see and ended up beating Iowa.

Hawkeyes up 10 on UNI at the half in one of the worst played halves I think I've seen this year.

Rumor:Garcia to Philles for Arow + Madson/Floyd
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 07:42 PM) And you need to change your name or something. I love the guy and he'll always be one of my favorite players but I don't want him back on the Sox.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 06:46 PM) WGN Radio had a clip of Ozzie running his mouth about how Brandon is going to AAA, because he doesnt want to pitch out of the pen and he has no right to ask to pitch in the rotation. Ozzie needs to learn how to keep his top lip and his bottom lip together more. Ozzie must be getting twitchy now that KW might trade his relative. Ozzie can shut up. He needs to go back to AAA.

QUOTE(mmmmmbeeer @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 02:27 PM) When Mark is rolling, he's rolling. When he's struggling, he's struggling...it might be for 2 weeks, it might be for a month, it might be for 3/4 of the season..but he's always come across to me as a streaky pitcher. It's just an observation of mine and I'm not skilled, nor bored enough, to dig through statistics to prove my observation. The context of my statement was built on the premise of a long term deal. I think Freddy, due to the ability and initiative to adjust his game when struggling, is a better candidate and investment for a long term deal. Freddy was a power pitcher, he's got a whole other style to fall back on, namely deception and control. Mark was never a power pitcher and already relies on deception and control. So if, like last season, he loses that control and deception, what does he fall back on? He's got nothing unless he learns a knuckler from Haeger. Edited to add, give me Freddy in a big game over MB. That alone is worth a contract. It took Freddy 5 months to make adjustments and I still don't trust him at all. He had like 3 or 4 starts in September that saved his season from looking like a total disaster. Mark absolutely stunk the 2nd half of last season but I see no reason why he wont bounce back. He's easily the better long term commitment imo.
