Great job by Jon, pitching over a swinging bunt and a bad throw.

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 07:05 PM) It was a pretty damn good throw if you ask me. Right to the glove and low. Gooch had it knocked out of his glove. If he gets it there on the fly, IRod is out by a mile.

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 06:48 PM) Man, for a guy who has like 14 errors on the season, hes making some kickass plays tonight. He's one of the best 3b in the league.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 06:42 PM) For those scoring at home, that last catch that Brian had would of fell if Mack was out in center. So how exactly do I score that?

Trade with the Reds?
QUOTE(IowaSoxFan @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 05:05 PM) With the Reds making some moves in their bullpen trying to firm up a payoff run, the one big weekness that they have now is in the starting rotation. I think we could deal Garcia to the Reds for Todd Coffey and Homer Bailey Coffey was great as a setup man, and real bad as a closer. He could slide into Cliffs slot easily. Homer Bailey has a rocket attached to his shoulder but is still at least a year away from being ready to start. Garcia would be better than most of what the Reds have now, and would help them overtake the Cardinals in the weak NL central. No chance that Cinci does that trade.

ESPN Report: Kenny Looking at Scott Linebrink
QUOTE(Contreras @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 04:57 PM) Sure. Jump on the Pods lovewagon and give credit to him for the proficiency of the three hitters behind him. The 3 behind Youk have more combined rbi's than our guys do, so don't make it seem like the guys behind Youk aren't doing their jobs.

ESPN Report: Kenny Looking at Scott Linebrink
QUOTE(iamshack @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 04:49 PM) Well, I disagree with you. He certainly has control over it to some degree. I won't deny that it depends on the people behind you driving you in. But explain this to me....If Youkilis has Loretta, Ortiz, and Ramirez batting behind him, why is he scoring less than 40% of the time while Pods is scoring 50% of the time? Very interesting stuff there. Pods has played less games and scored more runs than youk with a much lower obp.

ESPN Report: Kenny Looking at Scott Linebrink
QUOTE(Contreras @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 04:14 PM) Yeah, that's relevent...OR NOT. How the hell does it matter? He has no control over it. That's like saying Javy is the best pitcher on our staff because the offense scores the most runs when he pitches. No, it's a bit different. While Scotty definitely can credit the offense for some of his runs, his speed will also play a factor into it. It makes sense that when he gets on base, he'll score a lot.

Freddy throwing harder?
We'll see. And throwing soft hasn't been his only problem this year either.

QUOTE(dasox24 @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 03:28 PM) Good thing. I thought I really screwed him over by putting him in my avatar 2 years ago. If you remember, that's when he started to decline. I guess it's out of his system, now... Yeup. You lucked out.

Wes Whisler...The Anti-Freddy Garcia
QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 11:06 AM) While Freddy has given up a high total of 22 home runs, Wes has not given up one this year in over 105 innings. While his overall numbers are very impressive, giving up 0 home runs is equally as impressive. At 23 years old in High A, he can't be considered a great prospect, but certainly he is good. Being a 2nd round pick with four potential above average pitches, people knew he had it in him. Now he is starting to put it together. He really needs to be pushed into AA. My suggestion would be Whisler for Rodriguez, Malone up to Charlotte, Harrell to AA maybe as well. Wes needs to imrove his strikeout to walk ratio, but he solid hits given up per nine innings and is obviously doing a superb job keeping the ball down. If nothing else, he can be a good reliever because he is 6-5, left-handed, keeps the ball down and has four average to above average pitches. He is finally on his way. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil..._pbp&pid=452217 I don't think age is that big of a concern with him, considering he was so raw coming out of college.
