Suspensions handed out
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 12:27 PM) Totally to be expected, absolutely nothing surprising here. There is a precedent and this certainly follows it. Can I ask what the precedent is, kalapse? I just seem to recall most of these suspensions being only a game.

Official Soxtalk 2006 World Cup Thread
I mean this is an embarrasment but does Ghana have any pride? Seriously, rolling around the ground for 10 minutes everytime they get touched, just ridiculous.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 09:24 AM) f*** you Reyna. Dribbles the ball out of the back, gets his pocket picked like a noob and then its a 3 on 1 break, goal Ghana. Its time Arena to lift the 4-5-1 now. It hasnt worked the entire cup. Put in the 3-5-2 and go balls to the wall attack. EJ needs to come in. Could you explain what that means a bit for the soccer impaired?

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 01:45 AM) Two of my horses are playing tomorrow and Italy (one of my horses) could really help my main horse out (US) by picking up a win. Of course US still needs to take care of things themselves. My 3rd horse (the Doitch, ie Dutch) will be moving on and ready and willing to beat up on the Portugese. They are soccer teams not horses.

Rowand vs. Anderson
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 12:29 AM) How can you make that claim? Watch the replay of even the face breaker catch he made earlier this year against the Mets, he had a TERRIBLE read on that ball. Same goes for the catches he made in NY that got him on the map last year. Rowand was a very good fielder because he caught it if he got to it, but his terrible reads and not great speed made catches Anderson makes look easy very hard for Crash. Aaron gets about as good of reads gap to gap as anyone in baseball. He has problems on the short ball which is why I said Brian is a bit of a better cf but it certainly isn't that huge of a gap imo. Basically, you're calling aaron a very average cf which isn't true at all.

Rowand vs. Anderson
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 12:24 AM) Rowand gets bad reads . This is absolute bull.
-
Rowand vs. Anderson
Both get tremendous reads and jumps, Brian is better at getting to the short ball because he plays further in. Brian is faster and does have a better arm but he also misses the cut off man way too damn much. IMO it's pretty damn close but I give Brian the slight advantage though he has to learn to hit the damn cut off man. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 12:13 AM) Name me one game where his defense, or his mental errors cost us. EDIT: Keeping this beautiful sig just to piss off Kalapse for a good while.. He missed the cut off man in the reds game on saturday which cost us a run, he did the same thing yesterday that allowed the runners to move up but vaz got out of it.

White Sox agree to terms with McCulloch
It is very interesting to me that they're putting him in great falls. I'm thinking they're just going to take it easy with him this year. Let his arm rest up.

Ozzie has some words for Mariotti
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 11:17 PM) I've been reading this thread and noticed something that has been mentioned a few times. It's the contention that the current interpretation of the terms *** and gay are not what they once were. In other words, the terms do not necessarily mean homosexual any more. In the past, I thought some of the younger members used that argument just to justify using the words here on the site and to be honest, I didn't buy into it. However, I now have to step back and take another look at that. Sometimes, the meaning of words do evolve over time. The prime example I can think of is "______ sucks!" As I was growing up, that meant only one thing ... that the target of the slur was homosexual. It has since evolved to be the equivilent of saying "______ stinks!" I'd be interested in hearing some reactions to this. Especially, that of the esteemed Mr. Kickass. YAS, this is right on. Obviously I can't speak to how the word has evolved but I can tell you that when a lot of people use that word that it has absolutely 0 homosexual connotation.
