  1. Rates are going up, if you compare them to rates offered in the past 6-9 months. But 3 years ago, many people thought the bottom had dropped out and rates would be going way back up soon. It didn't happen and they fluctuated, at times going even lower over the next three years. My understanding (and a very limited one at that) is that Ameriquest typically deals with people with less than A credit. They typically don't have access to the best rates.
  2. QUOTE(Iwritecode @ Jan 19, 2006 -> 10:09 PM) Not sure. It's just something somebody said (I think it was when we were applying for our loan) when we were house hunting and it's stuck in my brain ever since. The other one was that house payments are typically 1% of your total mortage. Including taxes and insurance. That's about right for us as well... That's high. I know interest rates have gone up some, but I just bought again November 30th and my payments (two mortgages) total a little over .007 (7/10 of one percent. That includes property taxes and homeowners insurance. Granted property taxes are low here, so the 1% rule may actually apply in the Chicago area. My advice, if you aren't putting 20% down (who does on their 1st house?), don't be afraid to go with two mortgages to avoid PMI. Your first mortgage will be 80% of the total and your second will be 20% minus your downpayment. Your second mortgage can be interest only or a balloon type mortgage. This will slow your equity building slightly (only slightly) and can significantly lower your payments. Explore all options, but be careful with a full interest only mortgage. If you look at that route, make sure there are safeguards built in to make sure you won't be upside down should the housing market crash.
  3. QUOTE(Fotop @ Jan 19, 2006 -> 10:24 PM) Sam Young (Offensive Tackle) is going to Notre Dame. A great get for ND, 5star O-Lineman that tops off an already impressive o-line class. O-line is very thin at ND, and this class was defintely needed. Wegner, Webb, Carufel, Olsen, Stewart, and Young should all be quality lineman in the years to come. Would have liked to see him end up at Michigan. Now on to Schilling. They really needed to land one of those two.
  4. QUOTE(THEWOOD @ Jan 19, 2006 -> 04:44 AM) Big win for the buckeyes today, they have easy sailing on out till the big show down with Illinois in March. No reason they should not win every game up to that one. Hope you aren't putting any money on that to happen..........

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jan 19, 2006 -> 03:46 AM) I didnt watch last night or tonight but Fox News just did a special on that orange chick with all the makeup or whatever and they said the producers set her up and told her to put more make up on or some s***. Anybody else catch that? Put on more makeup? Did they ask her mom to do the same?? That girl came into the deal wearing that crap.
  6. QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Jan 18, 2006 -> 11:44 PM) Theres no way you can even think of doing hte bracket predictions until the Big 10 tourney They aren't doing bracket predictions. Lunardi simply is posting the brackets as he sees them each week as if the tournament were to start at that time. His Bracketology has nothing to do with predicting what teams will do the rest of the season, only what they have done to that point. All due respect, Duke, I am a big IU fan and am happy to have a few of us on here, but you have been a bit of a pain in the ass the past few days. You doing it on purpose? If so, it's not becoming.......
  7. I'd love to see DJ White back for that one, but that's pushing it. He was supposed to have seen Dr. Andrews this past weekend, but that isn't possible. Dr. Andrews had a heart attack recently, so he must have seen Dr. Lemak or one of his associates. My best guess is toward the end of February is a best case scenario for his return. Hopefully, he will get back in time to fully integrate him into the team before the NCAA Tournament.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jan 17, 2006 -> 04:03 AM) Sweet Jesus that's a lot of tvs Home Photos There are two of them. I have the same exact plasma upstairs in my office/computer room with surround sound speakers built into the ceiling/wall. I have a pretty cool setup. The plasma and speakers in the living room have all the wires running through the wall into a closet behind it. I have shelves built in the closet to hold my Cable box/DVR, Surround Sound Receiver, 400-DVD changer, PlayStation and VCR. All are programmed into an RF Home Theater Remote that works through walls, so no components are showing. Even have the living room lighting on a dimmer programmed into the remote. I use wireless controllers for the PlayStation so I don't have to do anything other than turn it on (haven't figured out how to get the power to it programmed yet). The 48" projection TV basically gathers dust unless I want to have something on TV while I am playing PlayStation on the plasma or I have friends over and multiple games are on. It was perfect for Jan 2 Bowl Games!! One of these days, I'll probably have to figure out what to do with it, but I am NOT moving it upstairs to the bedroom. See how I came full circle and brought this back to the thread discussion. ;-)
  9. No need to ban, just ignore.....
  10. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Jan 18, 2006 -> 04:55 AM) Sam Young cancelled both his Michigan and Penn State visits, and will decide between USC and Notre Dame, with ND as the likely frontrunner. Although I've heard coach Carr has one final in-home visit to change his mind. Steve Schilling is pretty much down to USC and Michigan. If he decides to take his USC visit this weekend, then I would have to think they will be the frontrunners. Coach Carr had an in-home tonight to try to lock him up without a USC visit. As for Andre Smith, he enjoyed his visit to Bama this past weekend, and Alabama should be there for him until the end. But LSU gets a visit this weekend to try and sway him. USC, LSU, and Bama should be battling for him until signing day. I found this on Smith a few minutes ago... Doesn't give much new info, but says he visited Miami, not Alabama this weekend. I think there may have been a last minute change?? Andre Smith - Recruiting News
  11. Palehose, any insight to a couple of top offensive lineman that Michigan is in on? The two I am referring to are Stephen Schilling and Sam Young. Schilling is from CA and and rivals has Cal, Michigan, USC and Washington as his final four. Young is from FL and his final choices are Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn State and USC. It would be nice to get one of those two and awesome to land both, although I figure that has to be a longshot. Another offensive lineman Andre Smith from down here is still mum about where he is going. There are lots of rumors that he is headed to Alabama, but he still maintains that nothing has been decided. I think the rumors at this point are more wishful thinking, but Alabama could still happen.
  12. Thoughts... -- First of all, the game ended up being what I expected in the beginning tight to the end. The only difference was it wasn't tight all the way through, if that makes sense. -- Like me, IU really relaxed once they got the 15 point lead in the 2nd half. Their intensity dropped which allowed Illinois to get back into the game. Passes got lazy, Marco wasn't working as hard to get post position and more guys were standing around. Not to take anything away from Illinois and their comeback, but that game was over if IU kept their intensity level high. Fortunately, they were able to recover and hold on for the win. -- Like I said before, IU needed this game more than Illinois did. It could have been devastating if they had lost after leading in the 2nd half as they did. -- As far as rushing the court... Greasy, did they actually rush the court? When the teams were shaking hands at the end of the game, I sure didn't see a bunch of students running onto the floor. After that, the cameras went away from the floor and when they came back, there were students gathered on the middle of the floor and others joining them, but they seemed to be walking in that direction, not running at full speed. Maybe there is no difference, but I saw it more of students gathering on the floor after the game. Granted they were celebrating, but I certainly didn't see an onslaught of students rushing to get there. Did I see it wrong Greasy??? All in all, a great game. I look forward to seeing them meet again. It looks as if in the Big Ten, whichever of the top four teams can sneak a win or two on the other's home floor will determine the champion. Of course, Wisconsin doesn't have to do that if they hold serve at home.
  13. QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 18, 2006 -> 02:19 AM) Killingworth is a good player but what a thug. He should have gotten a couple of technicals for his bulls*** tonight. After calming down that would be my only complaint about the officials. You have the elbow to Pruitt's face, throwing the ball at Pruitt, and then taunting Dee after a block that was nothing special. He needs to learn some class. Dude, relax! They called an intentional foul on him for the elbow, don't have a clue if they even saw the toss of the ball (I didn't until they showed the replay) and he smiled big at Dee after the "taunt". There was obviously no animosity there. I don't like the lack of control of his emotions, but calling him a thug is going a bit too far. He got frustrated. He didn't handle things right. So what. Don't make a mountain out of a mole hill.
  14. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 18, 2006 -> 01:21 AM) Dee with three after getting ran over... And both of his feet were squarely planted FWIW, the rule is if a player is in the air, a defensive player must give him room to come down. He cannot get a charge by being set before he lands. It was an unfortunate call, but it was the correct one. By rule, the foul should have gone to Dee.
  15. Enjoy the 2nd half.... see you all after the game. I am going downstairs to watch the finish.
  16. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 18, 2006 -> 12:56 AM) Oh I know I'm not saying what he did was some rare feet but that was pretty s***ty. First he gets called for an intentional foul with the elbow but that doesn't stop him from tossing the ball into another players face. I agree, but it also doesn't happen if Illinois isn't frustrating the s*** out of him. Like I said, consider it a compliment. lol
  17. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 18, 2006 -> 12:52 AM) Yeah that was garbage. Throwing elbows and balls when someone plays you physical? Yeesh. I'm not condoning it, but he is not the first player to ever throw an elbow in a game. He is an intense player and he will fight for his territory inside. Give Illinois players credit for harassing him big time in the first half. This is no excuse for the elbow, but your guys caused it by playing him hard. Consider it a compliment. If it doesn't repeat itself and he holds his composure, then I will consider it an anomaly.
  18. Defense is what got IU back in this game. I expect a dogfight in the 2nd half. IU needs to protect their home court and win against a great team. They need this win more than Illinois needs it, but the Illini certainly aren't going to lay down for them. Great game. Two very good if not great teams. Doesn't get much better than this, does it boys???
  19. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Jan 17, 2006 -> 11:10 PM) #1 QB Mitch Mustain re-committed to Arkansas today. I still don't agree with him being a top 5 QB in the class, much less the #1, but Arkansas still got themselves a good one. Arkansas almost lost Mustain, even after hiring his high school coach as OC. Go from high school coach to OC at an SEC school, quite a jump, I wonder why... Somewhat of a chain reaction... Apparently Notre Dame made it clear yesterday that they were not going to offer Mustain a scholarship, honoring the word Weis gave the other two QB's that two were all they were bringing in this year. Also, Alabama gets a commit from QB Greg McElroy today, who had previously committed to Texas Tech.
  20. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 18, 2006 -> 12:40 AM) It's ridiculous too. Early on Pruitt and Randle were both playing very actively, Dee was feeding everyone. Now it's more just stand around and watch Dee heave. Doesn't help with Auggy in foul trouble. Things change when the other team actually score and they have to set up. IU finally woke up. Other notes.... -- Didn't like the elbow from Killingsworth. Illinois has a lot of big guys hanging all over him and making life difficult for him inside. He can't let guys playing him tough frustrate him. Killingsworth is acting like an ass right now. That s*** needs to stop. -- Looks like this game will come down to who can win the 2nd half.

No hi def in the bedroom just yet, but I do have a TV in there. I have a 42-inch plasma in my office so I usually wind down the evening online and watching TV before going to bed. But I still have to have a TV on to fall asleep. Good thing for a sleep timer! I have total overkill on TV's. I have 5 TV's and live by myself, including two 42" plasmas and a 48" widescreen rear projection. Hi def boxes alone make my cable bill sky high every month!
  22. Indiana State has lost seven in a row since opening the season 8-0! Evansville is once again sitting near the bottom of the conference. That is just sad. That program should be in the top 3 or 4 in the league every year. Unfortunately, I don't see any kind of turnaround coming any time soon.
  23. My first CD's were: Howard Jones - "Dream Into Action" and Bryan Adams "Cuts Like A Knife" Have no clue what my first album was. Probably Sugar Hill Gang "Rapper's Delight" or something like that. Let's not forget Grand Master Flash and the Furious Five either! I did the whole 70's Classic Rock thing (many of the ones you guys have mentioned) and then moved into the Heavy Metal/Hair Band era with bands like Dokken, Judas Priest, Ozzy Osbourne, Ronnie James Dio, etc. Then I hopped right into the 80's and Bryan Adams. My musical tastes were kind like Nuke Laloosh _ _ cks and pitches...... all over the place. Boston, Van Halen, U2 and Mellencamp were always some of my favorite bands.
  24. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 10:16 PM) A couple questions for Rex, BH, and the rest of the gang. 1) Why should I not fear a knuckler playing the bulk of his games in US Cellular Field? I'm sure some comparison can be drawn to Wakefield playing in Fenway, or Charlie Hough playing at Comisky, but, I'd be awfully surprised to see this kid work out. 2) Why am I thinking drafting polished, collegiate pitchers is the way to go? I know you can always find some gems straight out of high school, but, if I were in the front office, I'd much prefer to see a collegiate player drafted in the early rounds. Is that thinking dangerous? 1). The odds are definitely against Haeger. Regardless of what part he plays in, it will be difficult for him to get to the Majors let alone be successful. If he makes it, he will be the exception rather than the rule. At this point, I would consider him a longshot at best. 2). That is definitely the safest route to go, but not always the best. Who you draft is pretty circumstanstial and a good club might have to change their strategy each year based on where they are drafting, the quality of players being drafted and what other teams are doing. If you are drafting 15th and the other teams are going after "polished, collegiate pitchers" then you may find more value in drafting the 3rd best HS pitcher than the 7th best college pitcher. It also may depend on the depth of your farm system and your ability to attract free agent pitchers. Until you factor in all of those elements, I don't think you can say drafting one way is smarter than another. Not without being smart enough to know you may need to do the opposite the next year, anyway.....
  25. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 07:49 PM) I still see you guys winning by 5-8. We have no one that can even think about containing Marco. See that is the key to beating IU. Don't try and contain Marco. Let him get 30 in the first 30 minutes of the game but defend the hell out of the 3-pt line. By the time there are 10 minutes left, Marco will be out of gas from having to do it all himself and will start to miss shots. So he gets 34 and Illinois still wins.... I think you would take the win, right? I really think the key is to make Killingsworth work hard to get his points, but to work harder on defending the perimiter. Marco can't go 40 minutes and do it all.
