  1. Its not a complicated process. The areas with " " around them are quotes and the areas without them are not. My post happen to be long, but if you don't want to decipher because it gives you a headache(poor baby), THEN DON'T READ MY POST. Its that simple. This is how I do things whether you/anyone else likes it or not, so get use to it Why be an asshole about it? It was a request. All you have to do is click on the Quote button before and after the text you put in quotation marks. I'm sorry if that is too difficult for you. It's not rocket science, so I assumed you could handle it. I stand corrected.
  2. The votes are sent in and collected before the playoffs start. The playoffs do not sway the votes at all. They are announced after the playoffs so they will not detract from the focus of the playoffs and WS.
  3. Argument aside, can you please learn to use the quote function?? Trying to decipher your long posts is giving me a headache. Thanks

Don't count out Pacheco as a possible surprise.......
  5. What do YOU want out of a 6 million dollar hitter? As much as players get paid today, even with the market taking a downturn, I think if we got the same production from someone as Carl gave last year, 6 mill would definitely be worth it. For $6 million I would not want a guy with career averages of: .280 with 18 HR and 74 RBI Keep in mind that those numbers are also skewed by two huge years in 99 and 2000 and a solid year in 2003. So five and a half years at well below the above averages and three that help raise them. Those numbers are not worth nearly what he has made, nor will likely make this year, in my opinion. If you want to bank on him having another big year, go for it. I'll take my money and chances elsewhere.
  6. Opinions vary.....
  7. If we offer him arbitration, he may very well go and accept it, then we'd be stuck with him. I wouldn't mind being "stuck" with him. At $7-$9 million?? Puhlease Why do you assume that he will get 7-9? He made $9 last year. His camp would not submit an arbitration figure much lower than that. The Sox couldn't go too much lower, for fear they would lose. The way arbitration works is that both submit a figure and the arbitrator has to choose one or the other. For example, if Everett's agent submitted $8 million and the Sox submitted $5 million, if the arbitrator felt that Everett was worth more than $5 he would be obligated to give him the $8 million. He can't "round down". Granted, the owners have won the majority of arbitration cases the past few years, but that would not hold well if the figures are too far apart. The $7-$9 million I posted were just a guess, but to me, $6 mil is too much for him, based on his past numbers. Coming off a solid year, he would have more leverage in my opinion.
  8. How often do you see "sign and trade" deals in MLB?? Jose is not worth $5 mil, so trading him now becomes even more difficult.
  9. I don't think you would get compensation for a player that became a free agent because the team declined an option. I am not sure, but it would make sense that they do not. The deadline for offering arbitration is sometime in December, I believe. I don't know the exact date, but it is sometime around the Winter Meetings (Dec. 11-14), if I recall correctly. I believe they will agree to a contract with Sandy before that deadline. The same for Robby, I believe. I don't think arbitration will come into play for either. Just an opinion, not based on more than that. I don't think that Sandy is a top tier FA either, so you wouldn't two picks for him. Can someone confirm or correct me on that?
  10. Loaiza was not a bad pitcher before. He never had a huge year, but he ate a lot of innnings for some pretty mediocre Blue Jay teams. He was a good pickup from day 1. I couldn't believe no one else would take a chance on him.
  11. Valentine, Almonte, Ring, no wait............. You named the most obvious ones.... depending on how they are used, you could add Diaz, Adkins, Yofu and Pacheco to that list... Long shots could be Bullard or Bajenaru. That is all that comes to mind off the top of my head.

The new guy is a Special Assistant to the GM, not the Assistant GM. A Special Assistant usually has a role more as a consultant. More scouting and talent evaluation than administration.
  13. CLee improved in that area...... let's give him some credit.
  14. If we offer him arbitration, he may very well go and accept it, then we'd be stuck with him. I wouldn't mind being "stuck" with him. At $7-$9 million?? Puhlease
  15. Vlad made $11.5 mil this past year. My guess he will get at least $13 - $15 mil. The Expos will likely give him $13 mil to stay.
  16. My guess is they will offer arbitration to: Colon and possibly Gordon. My guess is they will either sign the Alomars before then or go their separate ways (more likley with Robbie). I don't think they want to go to arbitration against Robbie after making $6 mil last year. There is no way they offer it to Everett. They cannot offer it to Sullivan (I don't think) since they declined his option (I am assuming that, although I never saw it officially). Did I miss anyone?
  17. Do you like anybody?? If a guy doesn't break out like Albert Pujols, you think he sucks. He was a freakin rookie, give him a break.... OR we could re-sign Josh Paul
  18. The new guy is a Special Asst. to the GM, not the Asst. GM. A Special Asst. usually has a role more as a consultant.
  19. There is a big difference between the two players......... but not that big of a difference between the two contracts.
  20. Helton's contract may be about as untradeable as Manny's.
  21. I was going to say something to the effect of "if you want a higher payroll, get your ass out to the park", but refrained. You hit the nail on the head.
  22. If you can't keep up, you'll have to look it up...... It has been reported in a multitude of sources that he will not be back and has even called KW and thanked him and wished him well.

So we have a Chisoxfn and a ChiSoxFan?? Can we get anymore confusing??
  24. Hahn is a contract, arbitration, stats guy...... His educational resume is ugly!
  25. Nowhere yet........ Free agents can't even be signed until Nov. 11. But he will not be back with the Sox, that has been established.
