  2. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 02:51 PM) It seemed like a lot of people weren't getting it, so I had to clear the air. You cleared the air alright, and it wasn't wrong.
  3. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 01:45 PM) ^^^^ The first one to say what they have in common gets hit in the head with a mallet. Fake Boobs?
  4. QUOTE(Pods70Rowand33 @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 01:01 PM) On Rotoworld, they said that the Blue Jays seem to be the team that will get Burnett. But then I thought of last year when Freddy was on the block, we weren't the expected suitors for him. So I'm hoping that the same will happen again. Time will only tell how everything will turn out, but hopefully it will help us.
  5. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 03:31 PM) Ryno did pick us to win the division in the beginning of the year- have to give him props for that. Who knows- maybe Ryno has psychic capabilities? Jonny Daman was intervied by a Comcast dude and he also said the Sox have what it takes to win the world series. Peter Gammons said every little leager should watch the White Sox play because thats 'How baseball should be played" Starting to get the respect around the league yikes! If the great peter gammons prasies us, then this must be the year!
  6. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 09:58 AM) I hate this friggin thread, but thought this was rather interesting. Per Rotoworld: A.J. Burnett - S - FLA With The Blue Jays reeling from Roy Halladay's injury, they could be the favorites to land AJ Burnett. The key would be Burnett agreeing to a contract extension with the Blue Jays. Apparently the Marlins covet Toronto's rookie left-hander Gustavo Chacin and Toronto will part with him if it lands them Burnett. ''If [Toronto] could sign Burnett, the deal would get done now,'' the source said. Stay tuned. Jul. 13 - 11:38 am et Couple of interesting things: -Marlins are serious about dealing him -Burnett would consider signing contract extensions -It appears a young arm, the likes of Chacin, could get it done ...all things the White Sox should be paying very close attention to. Per RotoWorld, this is from eariler in the day today A.J. Burnett - S - Marlins The Marlins have reportedly talked to at least six teams about A.J. Burnett. The White Sox are rumored to be the most aggressive pursuers of Burnett, and you can expect him to go somewhere before the deadline. Other teams in the sweepstakes include Baltimore, Toronto, San Diego, the Dodgers and the Angels. It sounds like the Marlins are willing to part with former closer Jorge Julio, whom the Marlins reportedly want, as well as Larry Bigbie. If you're in an NL only league, you should probably try to move him. Jul. 13 - 8:26 am et Source: Miami Herald
  7. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 10:05 PM) The 24 year old has pitched well in his first season with AA Birmingham going 10-3 with a 3.46 ERA while limiting opponents to 90 hits in 104 innings. I would say that he is pitching well with those numbers.
  8. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 01:44 PM) Who cares where your offense is coming from as long as it is coming? Can Anderson play firstbase?
  9. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 11:20 PM) There's no reason to rush in to a trade. There isn't a whole lot this team needs and he's looking for the best possible deal. If a deal is made it'll be an impact player, I'll guarantee you that. Like Robbie Alomar?
  10. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 11:11 PM) I loathe him. Being a homer is fine, but everything the Sox do is great and are never bad. If a pitcher shuts the offense down, it's not because the offense did s***, it's because the pitcher owned us. Hawk and DJ never criticize the team and always suck off their collective cocks. Joe Crede is not the best 3B in the last 45 years, Hawk. Willie Harris is not a good defensive 2B, Hawk. Timo is horrible, Hawk. Also no one cares about you playing in Boston with the Carmines, and in the same regard no one cares about DJ playing in Japan. I'll be very glad when both are out of a job. Of course their never just going to come out and say, for example "Timo Sucks, why is he still on the team" because they would get fired. I assume that they think that, they just don't say it.
  11. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 11:43 PM) To answer your question every team we have played except the A's who cares about what pitchers we beat As long as we keep beating them that's all that matters.
  12. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 10:00 PM) John Kelly -- Played football (DB I think) at Nebraska - Was Channel 5 sports guy - Then went to NY for year - then went national like on a Cable sports station somewhere -- Then sold his soul to the devil and he's currently working with that other hack Mark McGrath on that crapass OMG Britney is Preggers and TOMKAT broke up show. I think that show is called Extra.
  13. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 10:20 PM) Scotty is hitting .294...hmmm The "Rob Neyer School of Research" That's what i was going to post, but u did it before me.
  14. QUOTE(crash @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 11:25 PM) I cannot believe that Buerhle is starting the game. Once Francona picked Clement to replace Halladay, I figured Clement would be the starter, since he is Francona's player, and he is the freshest of the starters. Then again, Francona isn't a prick like Torre. I agree
  15. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 10:58 PM) Sweet pic thingy
  16. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 10:05 PM) 1. bob brenly 2. len kasper 3. chris berman 1.chip caray 1. bob brenly 2. len kasper The thing that bothers me about hawk is when the sox are down by like 4 or 5 runs, hawk is nowhere to be heard. He almost goes a half an inning without saying one word. Other than that, LONG LIVE THE HAWK!
  17. I would love it if DJ called the homerun derby. I can't get enough Uh-Oh's. :uhoh
  18. QUOTE(That funky motion @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 04:55 PM) Cry like a little b****! I probaly would also, but tears of joy.
  19. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 10:07 AM) We don't need him. We've got our own Dunn like player. Ever hear of a guy named Borchard? The main difference between Dunn and Borchard is that Dunn actually hits the ball.
  20. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 11:18 AM) Wow, I guess we're building for the future now. If you want a hothead who can't find the strike zone or stay healthy this year, you're crazy. Yes, that deal might look good next year, but unfortunately, I would like the White Sox to try to win the World Series this year. I don't want to build for the future. PS you'll be watching basketball a lot sooner if we depend on Oliver Perez to be a contributor on this team; like say after the first round of the playoffs. Wasn't Carl a hothead and AJ a "cancer" before they came to the southside?
  21. It seems to me that whenever El Duque gets hurt or is away from the team, Jose seems to pitch worse. But when he is here, Jose pitches a little better.
  22. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 11:22 AM) just like the cuban influence has helped Contreras' control issues? It somewhat did the first 2 months of the season.
  23. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 11:05 AM) You could also look at this another way. Sox could keep Zach Day as the 5th starter, allowing them to package one of Cont or Duque and some prospects to another team for a pitcher and than be able to lock up said pitcher to a long term deal (ie AJ Burnett). You give up a guy like Duque, and two good prospects and a mid-level for Burnett. Sox than insert Day into the 5th spot (they still have Bmac as the potential 6th guy cause he's the one guy you don't ever offer...also who knows if Florida would accept) and than you now free up 4.5 million or so that Duque was set to make, meaning that you only really increase payroll by 5.5 million and offer AJ 10 mill a year. They could also do this to acquire another player who may have a higher salary. Just throwing it out there. I'm all for this idea.
  24. Rogowski slugs way to Star of Day Casey Rogowski's first-inning homer got the slugfest going as Birmingham went on to beat Huntsville, 19-15, on Thursday night at Davis Municipal Stadium. Rogowski led the Barons' 22-hit output with a 4-for-6 performance, driving in a game-high six RBIs and scoring three times. His big night also earned him the MiLB.com "Star of the Day." Rogowski, a lefty-swinging first baseman from Redford, Mich., homered to center with two down in the opening frame off Ryan Costello. A single to center in the fourth drove in another run, and a base hit to left field in the seventh plated two more Barons. Rogowski capped off his night with another hit, a two-out line-drive single to center in the eighth that broke a 15-15 tie. He scored on the next batter as Josh Fields homered. Birmingham starts a four-game series with the BayBears at 8 p.m. ET on Friday at The Hoover Met. Huntsville travels to Pearl, Miss., for a four-game set against the Braves, opening with an 8:05 p.m. game Friday. 25. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 01:54 PM) Until that magic number hits 0, nothing's a lock.
