QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 09:35 PM) Reading through these game threads can be sickening at times. Jabroni, when the hell are you going to learn this team doesn't play corpseball they're the best team in the league for a reason. The team hits when it counts, period. Anyways, I love this team. It will always be corpseball, no matter what. -

QUOTE(Kogs35 @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 09:06 PM) 2 wins on espn this season woooooooooooooooooooooow lol. looking at the schedule july10th is real possible for a sunday nighter and as well as july24th vs the red saux. why july10 because espn likes to be close to the all star game city for monday nights home run derby. The Sox won 2 games nationally... . -
QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 10:41 PM) Spankee fans still think they are the best team in baseball They always will. That's something that will never change.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 10:34 PM) Fun crowd at the game tonight, hardly anyone left early. Big win in front of a national audience. There were some people that left right before the 9th started. They probaly wanted to beat traffic, but how could you leave a one run game?

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 10:06 PM) I posted it in anotehr thread but I think an Al Leiter for Hernandez swap could make sense for both sides in a month Hasn't Leiter been roughed up this year? EDIT: Here are his number's Team G GS W L SV CG SHO IP H R ER HR BB K ERA WHIP BAA FLA 12 12 2 6 0 0 0 57.1 61 44 43 6 41 36 6.75 1.78 .286 He hasn't done well at all this year. I would pass on this.

QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 10:28 PM) Or if el duque dosent start. Unless you leave him on the DL, or put him in the pen, we would have 26 players on the roster, we can only have 25. So what would you do with the extra player is what i'm curious about.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 10:24 PM) Well I think he's been awful all season, minus one start. He's been insanely lucky, his WHIP has to be amongst the leagues worse (in terms of guys with the amount of starts he's made). You can't keep getting away with that. He's given up way more hits than IP and on top of that has given up a lot of BB's. Right in the first month-month and a half of the season he did well IMO. Now he just seems to be getting tired or something. Nagging injuries is my guess. Why he just doesn't try to let them heal is something I don't know, and how long it would take them to heal is just a guessing game.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 10:24 PM) Sounds like you might know a little something. Duque getting traded? I don't know if I'm ready to trust McCarthy with the 5th starter role. I don't completely have faith in Brandon to fill the 5th starters spot just yet. I still think he is a year from being ready. But with the way El Duque has been playing latley, why not give him a chance.

QUOTE(Tmar28 @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 10:17 PM) could you say that the sox have the magic stick? tee hee I would have to say that they do .

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 10:19 PM) Who says Duque comes back. I'll worry about that when it happens. I'm the wrong guy to talk to about Duque, I think he's been insanely lucky and hasn't deserved to be in the rotation the past few starts (I hope I'm wrong and he comes back and kicks butt though). I just have zero faith in him. He has been pretty bad. I was at his game on Tuesday when he got shelled. He was alright through the first couple of innings, then he just seemed to fall apart. I don't know if it was that injury he has or just him blowing it, but he didn't seem normal.

They were playing that song tonight in the 8th and 9th innings i think. I liked that song because i have never heard it before. IMO they should play it all the time.
-
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 09:35 PM) I've said it for a while, but Bmac is gonna take over the spot in the rotation and he's not going back to the minors. Who's spot would you want him to take when El Duque comes back. Shingo and Viz have been doing well lately. The only way i see Brandon staying up here is if we trade a reliever.

QUOTE(C_LEE45 @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 09:40 PM) barry zito please Timo for Barry Zito?

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 10:06 PM) clickable, for your pleasure I have a rule though, we don't use this baby until the sweep is complete... otherwise, it's a jinx... deal? Deal.

QUOTE(Dizzy Sox @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 10:04 PM) Erstad has an OPS of .749. That is 20th out of the top 1B men in the majors, and more typical of a light-hitting middle infielder, much less a first baseman. His 6sb's? 20 for the year? Big freaking deal. He's probably going to wind up with 10-12 HR's, where again, your average quality team first baseman is going to hit 25 at a minimum. Those 20 sb's translate into what, 10 runs at most (and that is excluding the outs created by the five caught stealing's he'll have.) I'm not sure how your attention to detail is, but you might have noticed that first basemen are usually called upon to swing a big stick. Not to mention that Konerko is at best an average fielding first baseman, yet name me one game the Sox have lost this year because of poor d at first. Putting pressure on the pitcher is great, but it doesn't mean crap if you can't back it up with some muscle in the middle of the order. Take away Konerko and replace him with Erstad and we're going to be on the short end of a lot of 3-1 and 4-2 games. The game where timo played first.

Watching it live was hilarious. But i don't know why Pods was given third either. The Dodgers manager came out and argued, but didn't get the call changed obvuiosly.

Since I just got back from the game, i got to say it, HELL YEAH!!!!!!

Welcome to Soxtalk!

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 12:32 PM) I wouldn't call it lucky. Hell, we get 27 outs just like they do, and we scored more runs with ours than they did. At 26 outs, they have a win, but it takes 27. Good point, but i didn't say that we got lucky, i said who cares if we were.

Robin is still better than Crede.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 12:49 PM) May is pitching today vs. Santana, it's currently 0-0 in the bottom of the 3rd. OK thanks for the update.
