Report: Brandon McCarthy to Start on Monday
sayitaintso replied to Chisoxfn's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Hopefully he has a good game. He has had a couple of rough outings lately. -
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 12:34 PM) Career .766 OPS at 1B for probably $4-5 mill? You can't honestly be serious I'd rather have G-load at 1B for the whole year than Erstad I agree.

We can win all we want now, but if we fall apart the end of the season what will it matter. Im with SS2K5 on this one.

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 12:25 PM) I agree. SOX PRIDE was a much better campaign than WIN OR DIE TRYING. I wish he would have merged the two. The Sox have plenty of plays in their history of hard slides, diving catches, & pitcher's catching line drives to save their necks. Just show those clips. I had a dream last night of a great commercial but I know it would raise the angst of the North-siders. Tell me what you think: It starts off with two fans at Wrigley. Fan A: "They lost again." Fan B: "Maybe we should check out the White Sox. I hear Fireworks night is a blast." Fan A: "You might be right. I'm sick of all this losing." Next we see the two fans at the Cell. The Sox just won 5-3 in the 9th & the Fireworks are booming! Fan B: "Holy Cow! Was that awesome or what?" Fan A: "This is so much better than watching a team lose. When's the next game?" Flashed across the screen .. "Winning can be contagious. WIN OR DIE TRYING. Great Idea. Send it to Brooks.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 10:09 AM) Ever heard of the Utah Jazz?

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 12:38 PM) 8 of the 15 are white guys but many are from another country. Is that a bad thing that there is so many white guys on a team though? I guess I'd rather have talent than color of the skin. I didn't mean it to sound racist, but i remeber the Bulls having 3 out the their 5 players out on the floor were white. It just looked funny to me.

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 12:33 PM) Can someone explain to me why the Padres started Darrell May instead of Jake Peavy in his regular spot? I don't know why but the twins lost so im fine with it.

That's great. The pitcher was so scared.

QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 11:31 AM) Awesome sig. But shoudnt el duque be the joker. Then the five aces term wouldn't make sense.

QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 12:03 PM) Sox fans, however, know that Timo is capable of running and scoring from first. If the outfielders break their legs.
-
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 12:09 PM) That's part of it. I also don't want to pay $15 mill to any player, period, because then if that player gets injured, you are screwed. You can have f***in Bonds being stolen at $15 mill a year, but if he gets hurt, your team is f***ed. I didn't look at it that way. I see where your coming from.

Darrin Erstad for Jon Garland?

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 12:02 PM) Konerko's in the last year of his deal, for starters. He'll almost undoubtedly be gone after this year. He will also cost $5-7 mill less per year than Helton, and the new contract he gets will run out sooner than Helton's contract right now, and the Sox would have to give up no players to get him, unlike if they wanted Helton. Helton would be a horrible pickup. A horrible pickup financially.

I'm not saying that we should go out and get TH, but i was just trying to prove that he isn't overpaid.
-
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 11:56 AM) .258 6 26 .386/.410/.796 Those numbers up there tell me all I want to know about bringing Helton to the Sox. He still has a higher average than Kong does. But Kong has had way more homerun power this year.

Somebody said in that Timo segment but i can't remember who it is, " What else can you expect from a guy named Timo?" or something in that nature.

Who cares if we got lucky yesterday, we got the W and that's all that matters.

QUOTE(Stocking @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 10:00 AM) awesome post jim. Ditto. That was the most meaningful thing I read today.

QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 09:01 AM) Age is big deal nowadays. Go have a look at the yankees. Or the Giants.
-
QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 08:46 AM) Helton is 32 Konerko is 29 Helton makes more money more then Konerko! The last thing i want to have is an overpaid vetran who is past his prime. I don't believe that Helton is overpaid. He deserves everything he gets. Even though he might have the Coors effect to his advantage 82 games a year, he is still one damn good hitter.
