  1. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Apr 21, 2008 -> 12:35 PM) ronny cedeno they have theriot i dont think alexei is ready to play everyday, i just dont think he'll hit. i would like to see richar take over at 2b because he wasnt that bad last yr. but he needs to get healthy first yuck! Cedano is a career .250 hitter and .282 obp. That .634 Ops would make a grown man cry. If he keeps up his 2008 pace in part time duty then maybe....
  2. For me, it was between Boston and Detroit, with Boston getting the nod. Talk about annoying fans.
  3. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 21, 2008 -> 11:41 AM) I don't know how many other ways there are to say this....but the fortunes of this team do not depend on what Juan Uribe does at the plate. Only When he carries this team for long stretches
  4. Kalapse can do no wrong with that Avatar.
  5. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Apr 21, 2008 -> 11:37 AM) That he's sandwiched in between some all-time greats like Goose Goslin and Robin Yount is kinda weird for sure. The all-time HR list ain't what it used to be. and he was sandwiched between great hitters the majority of his career, meaning more fast ball opportunities. Thomas,Konerko,Lee,Maggs were just some of those great hitters he played with.
  6. QUOTE (BaseballNick @ Apr 21, 2008 -> 11:32 AM) 249 HRs for Valentin surprised me. the 'stache could mash
  7. QUOTE (AddisonStSox @ Apr 21, 2008 -> 10:28 AM) What's stopping this club from putting Ramirez at 2B as the team's starting second baseman? Uribe is a proven commodity. He's going to give you a cannon for an arm (and I'd say average to slightly above-average range at 2B), but is one of the most frustrating hitters in all of baseball. By all accounts, he is an excellent clubhouse influence (and a favorite of the team's Latino players and coaching staff), but simply isn't producing. Having seen players making twice as much money as him (Frank Thomas) get cut, there is no reason to hang on to him simply for his $4.5M salary--if not comfortable cutting him and getting no return, use him as a utility infielder at both middle infield positions...the bat will never be there, but he would be one of the better utility players in the AL. So, I ask you, why not make the transition to Ramirez now? If Williams and co. are serious about locking up O. Cabrera long-term at the SS position, why not move Ramirez to 2B right now? He clearly has the highest ceiling of all the organization's viable 2B candidates and I have been completely impressed with his approach at the plate. He looks the part. Is it a matter of defense? For those of you that watched a lot of spring training or are simply more familiar with the "Cuban Missile," is he simply not ready to play Major League quality 2B? What's the rub on this? If it is simply a matter of defense, I would also endorse sending Ramirez down to Charlotte to learn the position when Richar is healthy. I just think having an automatic out anywhere in the lineup really hurts a ballclub, and with this team in a position to contend for the AL Central Division crown, there is no reason to let a guy like Uribe torpedo a team's chances. The offense is good...it could be better. Your thoughts on the White Sox 2B situation? Uribe is ranked # 4 in MLB in range factor http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/stats/fieldi...umn=rangeFactor

QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Apr 21, 2008 -> 11:01 AM) Take a flight to Chicago for the weekend and see a better broadway show, go to a better comedy club, eat better pizza, see a better skyline, see a better baseball team.... This is all I can agree with. Sorry
  9. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Apr 21, 2008 -> 10:19 AM) I wonder how much research was done when making this thread. Gooch isn't having such a great year. As much research as you put in to know Crede was not done after sucking for less than half a year.
  10. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 21, 2008 -> 11:11 AM) Tad isn't fairing to well in San Diego: .213/.298/.253/.551 in 75 ABs w/ only 3 XBH (all doubles.) The Petco factor
  11. QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Apr 21, 2008 -> 11:02 AM) Vidro has played a grand total of 10 games at second base the last two years, no thanks. And How many has Ramirez and Uribe played?
  12. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 21, 2008 -> 10:57 AM) It's an interesting thought though. Yeah, it is. It definitely makes sense.

Head over there without any plans. I guarantee you will have an exciting day.
  14. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 21, 2008 -> 10:43 AM) How could you not? Vidro and O-Cab have history, Vidro is still a very solid hitter. 8.5 mill salary is a lot to take on, but maybe they take Uribe back and cut their owed amount in half? Just thoughts. If they would take Uribe straight up for Vidro that would be a good deal.
  15. looks like skiles is heading to milwaukee
  16. QUOTE (thedoctor @ Apr 20, 2008 -> 05:22 PM) gotta love danks winning on 4/20. lol he also pitched last year on 4/20 but got a ND http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/boxscore?gameId=270420106
  17. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 21, 2008 -> 09:15 AM) He signs with Seattle, Seattle offloads Vidro to us to get some quality at bats at 2B. He and O-Cab have a history turning the DP together. Sure, he gets injured and is a shell of his former self, but Vidro would be way better than Ramirez this year and certainly Uribe. Just an idea. I love the idea if Seattle throws in cash
  18. lol Hawk was probably in the top 100 when he retired
  19. QUOTE (DBAH0 @ Apr 21, 2008 -> 08:47 AM) Here's another. Our infield has a combined RZR of .755. Outfield is .928. AL averages are .788 and .895 respectively. I know it stands for "Revised Zone Rating" But Can you explain the formula for RZR please?
  20. QUOTE (NUKE @ Apr 21, 2008 -> 08:34 AM) I love how the Jays just ate 7 million dollars to offload The Big Skirt. 2008 contract: 7 million bucks........... Getting rid of a non-producing clubhouse cancer.................PRICELESS without the string of HRS from the "non-producing clubhouse cancer" in 2005 that may have resulted in a couple less wins and may have been enough for Cleveland to catch us. PS. Nice Racist Avatar
  21. QUOTE (shipps @ Apr 21, 2008 -> 09:16 AM) Iam refering to last year when they were outscored and were still a winning team. touche
  22. QUOTE (shipps @ Apr 21, 2008 -> 08:12 AM) The Dbacks would say it doesnt mean as much as you would think. Bulls***. The Dbacks are the best team in baseball and it is not a fluke.
  23. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Apr 21, 2008 -> 08:06 AM) I do worry about the run scoring aspect however. This team has 3 regulars hitting above .250. Wow. So Imagine when they hit higher.
  24. Texsox OWNS Dick_allen in the Frank Thomas Thread
  25. QUOTE (Texsox @ Apr 21, 2008 -> 07:20 AM) Simple. Sitting on the bench versus playing on the field. The people you see sitting on the bench with the ultra-clean uniforms are called coaches and earn considerably less. The people on the field are players. Coaches earn money by sitting on the bench and thinking, players earn money by being on the field and playing Classic
