  1. Have we even given Willie Harris a fair shot at the starting spot this year? I firmly believe he was playing hurt most of last year. He did just fine in April in May.
  2. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 01:02 AM) No, no I'll say it again it's a stupid thread. I can't even explain to you how much worse the offense would be without Iguchi this year. He f***ed up today on defense, the double error no doubt but overall he's been solid defensively, not to mention he turns the dp as good as anyone in baseball. This thread's dumb. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlbpa/players/7510/gamelog just look at the pattern in his numbers.
  3. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 12:59 AM) Oh my god he is in a f***in slump. God damn people here overreact after a game so much. IT IS NOT THE END OF THE WORLD!!! Holy s***, he made 1 bad play, as did Crede, and now everyone wants to jump of their respective bandwagons. Gimme a break. We hit a bump in the road, s***! Anyone who even JOKINGLY thinks Willie shoud replace Gooch is a dumbass IMO. Honestly, gimme a break. Every team loses a game once in a while. I'm with fathom on this one. People overreact too damn much! Why don't you look up the numbers before YOU over react to this thread.
  4. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 12:58 AM) .275 average .353 OBP 4 homers 4 steals ^Iguchi's May numbers Ya that sucks... Gooch was batting .365 on may 2nd. by the begining of June he was batting .295
  5. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 12:56 AM) Iguchi's been absolutely awesome this year. This thread's stupid. Gooch looks lost at the plat a lot. what is scaring me is he looks lost on D too. Far from awesome. Far from stupid.
  6. QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 12:52 AM) One bad play and you all hate Gooch? Give me a f***ing break people. We can afford to lose some games you pansies. are you kidding me? Did you read my first post? I said sucking it up since April.
  7. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 12:50 AM) im 100% with you, infact I was happy with Willie starting and not getting Gooch in the 1st place. As for Iguchi he started off the season very well, but I think pitchers are starting to adjust to him and he is being exploited. I still say Jose Valentin ruined everything last year.... we had a really good thing going with uribe and willie out there. I remember the speed 101 seminar at soxfest with willie and Spod. I was pretty excited at envisioning that speed at the top of the order. If anything willie would be learning a lot, being around Raines and podsednik. I don't like willie's bad attitude tha last month but I dont think the best man has the job at this point. (like he was promised) I would be mad too.
  8. Let's be Honest here. Gooch has been sucking it up since april. We have not really given Willie Harris a shot at the starting spot at 2b. Reminds me of 2003 when we kept pushing Rowand a side in favor of Carl Everett. Anyone think it's not willie's turn now? Harris has better D, he has more speed, and Im sure he can hit .267. Remember what he was hitting last year before he got hurt? If I re-call willie had a very successful April and May in 2004 before crashing into Maggs. He was hitting around .300 consistently and was stealing more bags. Why won't Harris start? The thread title speaks for itself. Before I get bashed. I want everyone to have at least an open mind with this. Back up your argument with facts. I think this is a very debatable subject.
  9. We need to forget about that last game. We have been behind our team all year! Why get down now? We are still 1st in our division, in the AL and in Baseball PERIOD. Every team has a funk. We will Turn it around tonight ! Go get em Jon!
  10. QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 09:57 AM) doubtful, unless maybe he can sstill play SS, but thats unlikely. i still think houston is the best fit for him, especially now that tehy are in the race. He would be a dream to get. This is a dream season. So why not dream? The fact is , I think we have more than enough to obtain him. It's just a matter of where would he play?
  11. Would he be worth going after? It would make things complicated on D. But that bat of his can turn our offense around in a hurry. He can easily be a 30-30 guy for years to come if we can sign him long-term. I can see Texas interested in a deal Centered around BMAC. Things to consider : Where would we put Soriano on D ? Can we move tadahito or soriano to SS? I know Tadahito does not have the same arm he once had. He is in his contract year. Boston fans seem to think they can get him for Emree and Bellhorn!!
  12. I have no respect for Brown or the Pistons. They both got screwed in this and I love it! Detroit, I bet you would love Rick Carlisle back now !
  13. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 09:16 AM) ... which should not be taken into consideration when you are talking about real baseball. I understand that... I think it was his sb's and and avg that had me over-looking his D.
  14. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 09:12 AM) Julio Lugo Please!!!!!!!!!! Never mind 17 errors :puke He is a good fantasy player for me though
  15. Julio Lugo Please!!!!!!!!!!
  16. thats the best thing from scratch Ive seen here. not that IPOD
  17. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 04:17 PM) Whenever I see .333, I want to know how many abs -- in this case, he went 2 for 6. C'mon. Suppose that just one of those hits was a walk, then PK's 1 for 5, .200 ba. Does that one ab change anything? Some idea of sample size is crucial for giving your argument any kind of plausibility. So often these risp args have no mention of the number of abs you're talking about. PK with risp had a horrible April, even worse than he was hitting overall in April. He was great in May, way above what he was hitting overall. Since then he's been slightly below his overall numbers. That sounds like perfectly normal variation to me, when we're only talking about (roughly) 15-30 abs with risp in any given month. Put differently, the entire 'PK is bad with risp' argument depends on one month, April. Take that out and he's hitting over .272 with risp, not bad at all. And of course, last year he was great with risp, better than his overall numbers. But April IS the most meaningful month. Noone's ever slumped in April. What this should show is that anytime you make a conclusion based only on a week or two weeks' worth of abs, it's going to be a reach. But those conclusions never seem to go away. If your going to make the April argument for Paulie then you can make that argument for Frank too. He has played 34 games so far.
  18. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 12:52 PM) It just looks like he swinging for the fences 3/4 times he's up every night Paulie seems to be swinging for the ss and 2b 3/4 of the time .
  19. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 12:31 PM) As much as Pauly has frusterated me this season, I'll always chant his name when he's up at the plate because I want him to succeed. LOL I agree, I always Chanted Jose JOSE JOSE (even when he struck out 5 times and had 2 errors LOL)
  20. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 11:40 AM) Konerko hit .293 in June and is hitting .291 in July? Konerko is batting .244 with RISP Frank .240 . Frank has played a little over a full month as far as games played. Frank will get bett IMO. Paulie has had all year . .244 RISP is no excuse if you played the whole year. It was paulie who was expected to be our main run producer coming into the year, Not frank. That's why I am more concerned with Paulie.
  21. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 11:29 AM) He looks pretty lost at the plate lately. Sure, he can muscle a ball out of the park with his strength a few times, but it seriously looks like he is swinging on one leg. I'm not sure how long we can afford to have a 3 hitter batting .218, or even .230, no matter how many jacks he has. His OBP is also inching down close to .300...not good. What do you think we should do if this continues through, say, the next two-three weeks? Frank makes everyone around him better. He takes pitches. I'm more concerned with Konerko at this point.
  22. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 11:30 AM) Here's the deal, half the teams in baseball think they're still in it. Everyone is chasing the same 4 players. I don't think the asking price for these guys will come down. It's comical to me that teams who have a #3 starter available are asking for 2 guys they can plug into their rotation in return. It's like, sure we'll give you Garland and Contreras for Schmidt, uh huh, yeah, of course we will. It's so ridiculous :headshake and frustrating. I guess these days its bad PR if you throw in the towel at the trade deadline (even if you are under .500)
  23. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 11:26 AM) The teams who are willing to trade are so few that the prices are insane to get a player. Read what the Marlins and Giants wanted for Burnett and Schmidt and tell me how it is worth it. We would be losing multiple starting players for fewer starting players, which isn't what we are looking to do now. We are looking to add a player without disrupting the 25 man roster. Do you think our prospects will be enough to pull a major trade with these "playoff contenders" as we get closer to July 31?
