QUOTE(sircaffey @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 11:06 PM) I know this is a little extreme and probably will never happen, but if we do acquire Lowell with Florida picking up a large portion of his salary, assuming Marte is in the deal, Lowell spun to Minnesota for J.C. Romero? I know they want a 3B bad, and Romero would be the perfect replacement for Marte. I know it would never happen, but it really is a perfect fit for both teams... you're right. it will never happen.

Did you get to hang out with any current/former sox players during soxfest in 2002?

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 09:10 PM) I'd be reluctant to ever put him at third. He's worse than Ozuna and Pablo is brutal at 3B. Hell Lou Pinella banned him from playing third last season. Regardless it's better to have him as an option, then no option, when you put crede's back into the equation. What happens if we lose Crede for a significant amount of time? Do we Start pablo everyday?

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 09:06 PM) I really have no interest in Cantu. Huff however I do like as a DH/1B/LF not to be an everday thirdbaseman. How's that? Thats exactly what Im thinking. Though, I would use him at 3rd on credes off days.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 09:01 PM) Huff and especially Cantu can not play D on the left side of the field. Are you assuming Huff can't DH like Overbay?

QUOTE(whitesox89 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 08:58 PM) Will Carroll thinks we could be getting Jorge Cantu also. Heres a link http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=4258 NO, read Carefully. Danys Baez is heading somewhere. Right now, the Devil Rays are sitting on a couple offers, including one from Philly. The Phils have offered Ryan Madson to the Rays, hoping that Baez would solidify the bullpen in front of Ugueth Urbina and Billy Wagner. Chuck LaMar's intractability seems to be paying off with offers from the Mets and Marlins also in the inbox. They'll also make a decision on Aubrey Huff, who seems destined to be a White Sock. Don't be surprised if Jorge Cantu ends up involved in a deal as well.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 07:18 PM) 1st you want Willie to start over Gooch and now you want stonehands at 3rd. Tell me exactly how we would use Huff??? Overbay would be our starting Dh and Konerko the starting 1B. Carl will get AB's filling in for Dye, Pods, and the DH. I did not neccesarily say I wanted willie to start FULL TIME over gooch. This is a different matter, stone hands ? Why don't you ask yasny permission to use his lines before you use it. DH is not our weakness on offense. Carl is doing just fine IMO. Frank would be fine too if he were healthy. That is not ceratain that he is out for the year. What happens if Frank gets back? Where as with Huff you can rotate him around better. He does not have to start at 3rd. But it sure beats putting Pablo out there on Crede's off days. Huff can also play OF ,1b and like the talented overbay, he can DH too. Overbay being limited to 1b and Dh is why Im not wetting myself over him. Why "Overpay for Overbay " when you have Paul and Gload who can play 1st; Carl ,who has played DH just fine, and Frank, who may still come back.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 01:50 PM) How about a name like "The Trade Winds" or something like that for this forum... Something about the Inside Beat, just doesn't work for me... Opinions? agreed
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 01:50 PM) Huff would be awesome as long as you're not relying on him to be your everyday thirdbaseman. S Overbay would be awesome if we did not have Gload, Carl and Frank

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 01:10 PM) ^^^^ End of discussion... NO. I'll take Huff.

QUOTE(Frank the Tank 35 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 12:25 PM) ESPN's Jayson Stark was reportedly told by an official from one MLB team that Alfonso Soriano will most likely be dealt by Sunday's deadline. ''John's asking for the moon right now, from everybody who asks,'' the official said. ''But I'd be willing to bet he'll lower his sights. I bet that will come down by Sunday. Why would they keep him? They've got a ready replacement (in hot prospect Ian Kinsler), and they've got to get more pitching. I think they're serious. They're just trying to bring in as many teams as they can.'' Jul. 27 - 1:16 pm et from rotoworld ...not that I think it's at all possible for him to end up in a White Sox uni... just some new info Im one of the few who would love to see soriano here.

QUOTE(Spod=Ratings @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 04:13 AM) nooooo tomko AHHH we are being attacked by the pointless poster!!!
-
QUOTE(forrestg @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 01:52 AM) San francisco giants Tomko could be available.. In the past he's been great in the 2nd half of the season he's 15 and 5 in the second half of the last two seasons with a 3.80 era. there's some trade rumors between the Phillies and Angels making inquiries. This thread = waste of space.

QUOTE(SHAFTR @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 08:30 PM) I know there is still a lot of the season left, but it seems strange that there hasn't been a No-hitter yet this year. I think 2000 was the last time there wasn't a No-hitter that year. 2004: Randy Johnson 2003: Kevin Millwood 2002: Derek Lowe 2001: Hideo Nomo AJ Burnett Bud Smith My point, nearly every year has a No-hitter. 2005 hasn't had one yet. we have 2 good moonths left. we will see one.
