QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 11:37 PM) Thought I'd bump this. Per Bruce Levine, Kenny and 3 other scouts were in attendance at wrigley today to watch Schmidt pitch. I didn't watch the game but by numbers he was quite impressive. Maybe looking at omar as well ?

QUOTE(Soxfest @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 06:05 PM) Gammons on Sportscenter said FLA keeps winning AJ Burnett will NOT be traded. Something tells me Gammons does not want to see Burnett on the Sox. :finger

QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 06:02 PM) considering on saturday, i was with a few people from this board, and one inparticular wasn't afraid to call out people walking in front of us during a pitch. You could definitely tell who were the real fans and who weren't. LOL that's me too .

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 03:21 PM) Uuuuuum, I never heard that.....when/where did he say this? Don't listen to Gammons. He would exagerate the truth for boston.
-
QUOTE(103 mph screwball @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 03:20 PM) I don't trust Gammons when Boston is involved. I agree. I don't trust him at all. He is obviously biased. He knows the 2005 Chicago White Sox are the biggest road block from Boston Repeating.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 01:15 PM) Exactly...this is my whole thought pattern. I want to win now, even if it means aquiring Kerry Wood part 2. If this overbay thing ever happened I would do that too. whats up with your avatar?

QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 01:09 PM) Did Mike North report that we are after Lyle Overbay? If so who told him this? I hate North and he seems to make s*** up. My buddy told me that North said this and I am just trying to confirm i. He did say it. He did not say where he heard it. Did not even hint where he heard it from. So I didn't bother to post that garbage.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 03:33 PM) No offense to Deploderer but Goldy's work is far better. Of course Goldy's work is better than everybody's. Goldmember is by far the best I've ever seen. KISS ASS :headshake

I'm not disagreeing with those who picked the AL west. I just find it bizarre how Oakland's turn around makes that division 5 times better. I'm sure some people in may would have voted that division as one of the weakest. I have nigtmares of Oakland making the WC.

I picked him up in all 3 of my leagues. He defines the term UNDER-RATED!!! If he is available, pick him up.

SI has him at 50 too http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/baseball/mlb/players/6489/

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 10:48 AM) Well Francisco Rodriguez was basically Bobby Jenks a few seasons ago, so this time next year that may not be such of a problem for us, if all goes well for Mr. Jenks. And of course don't forget all of the problems we've had with the likes of Mike Jackson, Rick White etc. over the past few seasons. I can only hope Jenks blossoms into a pitcher like Krod. I am not saying he can't. He needs to obviously take control of his wicked stuff.
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 10:43 AM) You need a good rotation for that to be effective however. As Jason told me over in Anaheim, the Angels starters have pitched way over their heads this season. Unless your starters can consistently give you 6 good innings of work, then you have to go to the likes of Yan and Gregg, who just aren't that good at keeping you in the ballgame. I understand that. I think it is a lot more difficult to find a young closer the calibur of Rodriguez, then it is to fill out the front end of the pen with decent arms.
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 10:28 AM) Not the back end of the Angels pen however. Behind Donnelly, K-Rod and Shields, they're just not that great. That back end, to me, is just amazing. I would take those 3 and build off of that over our bullpen. It is not a discredit to our bullpen either.

QUOTE(VAfan @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 10:24 AM) Why? They have no lefties, and we saw what happened to Scott Shields when they tried to use him as the man. Plus, Rodriguez is too in love with his curve. He's not going to last. I'll take a core of Politte, Cotts, and Jenks for the next 5 years. I didn't realize they were without a lefty. I'm sure if it were that big a deal they have the resources to call one up or trade for one. With your shields argument... Just because he is not closer material does not mean he is not a damn good pitcher. He has a 2.20 era. He is more proven then Politte and Cotts. Who ,on the sox, besides Hermanson; has the stuff and closer mentality to be "the man" ? Quite frankly, I am not all that comfortable with hermanson out there anyway. I'm not the only one. Hence, all the trade for a closer talk. I don't know what you are watching. If I were a gm building a team and I had a chance at any closer. I pick Francisco Rodriguez. How can you say he won't last? Don't get me wrong. I love the potential in Jenks, the turn-around in Politte and the consistent improvement with Cotts. I just don't think at this point all 3 together have the same value of Francisco Rodriguez.
