QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 11:26 AM) You said "What is going on?" 3 times. Kind of overkill. Look at the O's - Marlins trade. The Marlins are supposidly giving up two ML players (Burnett, Lowell) and gaining 4 ML players (Larry Bigbie, Jorge Julio, Steve Reed and Steve Kline) only one minor leaguer in the trade going to the Marlins (Hayden Penn). Teams still want to contend this year and next (FLA, SFG, PHI) so if they're going to give up ML talent they want ML talent in return so they can still contend. Whats going on? you are mocking me!!!! It is a vent LAY OFF! My point is... do we not have enough in our farm to get major help?
-
What is going on? I know we are above avg as far as our farm system goes. What is going on? It sounds as if teams only want guys from our mlb roster. When will these teams give up? Im talking Cincinatti, Seattle, SF, Philly, Florida ect. I feel we have enough to get 1 big bat, 1 top starter, and a closer. From our farm alone! I can't see it hurting chemistry too much. These players taking the place of Timo, Jenks , and maybe contreras. If sending Shingo down does not hurt chemistry I can't see why trading for upgrades will. Do teams not want these guys? Is Kenny not willing to deal them? What is going on? Understand I value prospects and expect major HELP in return. I'm sorry for the vent. I know a lot of you can relate with me. I don't want to take any chances. I want to win the world series. I just don't want to look back and wonder what if we made a splash during mid season. We have a lot of guys in our farm who should get a lot in return. I did hear JR say adding salary would not be a problem. We can still upgrade our team. It does not have to be everyday starters.

QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 10:57 AM) You...post less. Give the server a break. You're like a old man with a case of Viagra and a free hooker. I'm not really sure what that means.

GAME THREAD 7-19-05 SOX vs Tigers
rangercal replied to Controlled Chaos's topic in 2005 Season in Review
I take it Jose doesn't want to be traded -
I could not get tickets yesterday. I could not even get upper deck. I waited in line for a 1/2 hour and they released some last minute tickets. I got lower level.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 12:55 PM) The Cubs sell hot dogs and more food in general. Maybe we should stop selling food at the games. If you want it, you could go 8 miles north of the cell. That's how silly it sounds. I hate when people think of things as, "oh the Cubs do that, so we shouldn't do that" Stop having the Cubs in mind. Its not so much as acting like the cubs. It's acting like their obnoxious fans! How the hell do you compare food to the wave???????????????????????????????????
-
what a stupid poll. what made you think of it? the fact that the reverse likely will happen? Cards- White Sox

QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 10:08 AM) Sadly.. the practice of waiting is gone. When I go I wait till between batters - more often between innings. And if I get back during an at bat I wait at the top of the stairs. Always a steady stream of traffic up and down them though.. :headshake Its even worse on $1 dog Thursday

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 10:04 AM) No. I hate it. I paid to watch the game, and that's what I want to do. The wave is bad baseball etiquitte. I also hate it when people leave mid-inning during a batter and I have to stand up and miss a pitch or two. Drives me insane! This HEAVYWEIGHT lady kept walking up and down the stairs during the amazing hat game lol I got it wrong for the first time in 2 years
-
QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 10:00 AM) I don't think you are.. but I'd rather it done when we're ahead versus down. I can see your angle. If we had to do it. I would agree with you .
-
If people want to do the wave in between innings fine. Not during the game please. This is the exact kind of thing why a lot of sox fans are sox fans and not cub fans. If you want a circus their is one 8 miles north from here.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 09:31 AM) And they had just gone up in the 7th (when I saw it on TV). It was rally time.. the fans were pumped.. at least it wasn't when the Sox were down by 5. Better that then screaming at Detroit fans or throwing punches with them - which I was happy to hear was not part of the Monday night line up last night. I may be in the minority here. I want to watch the rally. Im sure you don't like it when someone keeps standing in front of you during a movie in the theater.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 09:23 AM) I like the wave. It gives the casual fan something to do and let's me know there is a sellout or near sellout at the ballpark. It's also fun to do during the dull moments of games like when Duque is pitching. Saying whoever does the wave isn't a fan of baseball is just flat out wrong. That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. They were doing it while The white sox were batting
-
I seen the wave started several times tonight. I actually almost got in a fight over a stupid argument with a Fellow sox fan over the wave. ( LOL don't worry no one was hurt) I respect everyone's opinion on this , this is more of a curiosity poll. Especially seeing the majority of the sell out crowd do the wave tonight.

Some of the names besides (LoL)iaza and Justice I can think of........ Weaver? Benitez? Jeff Nelson??? They have less to trade this year on top of that? Now what guys are you talking about??? Have the yankees traded for someone that was equal or greater than the Garcia trade?
-
QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 02:34 PM) For starters, in 2004, they added a guy who won 20 games in 2003. How bout that. Dave Justice in 2000. Do you really want me to run down a laundry list? Yes entertain us Justice? Loiaza? LOL

QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 02:28 PM) Steff, what exactly is weird about this thread? I'm just pointing out that while we are cruising along at a good clip, another team has compiled the identical record we have over the past two plus months and they are gonna be a force to be reckoned with. I think it's easy to dismiss the Yankees because of their streakiness this year. However, when you look at that 38-22 in the last 60, look at their payroll, their roster and their history of going out and getting guys, it's certainly much more scary than just looking at the surface record of just a few games over .500.... What guys?????
-
why did I think he was released by the rangers ? lol
-
QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 02:07 PM) When has a depleted farm system ever prevented the Yankees from getting anyone they wanted midseason? who have they really gotten the last few mid seasons? They only make splashes during free agency. For the record they used to have a very good farm system.
-
QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 02:05 PM) They will go out and get people like Burnett and Schmidt, you know. Its not the offseason. how will they obtain these pitchers? I would like to know. Fill us in on the inside info you have.

QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 02:01 PM) You know, I had no idea. just clearing the air. Just because I think that stat is more important. We are also undefeated since the Allstar break
