QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 21, 2005 -> 01:40 AM) You're a f***ing idiot. No

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 21, 2005 -> 12:56 AM) What did you hear KW offered? We heard Young, Rogowski and another prospect for Griffey around the break, did you hear anything different? We need to make a huge push for Mike Caruso

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 07:38 PM) I'll be just as disappointed if we just barely lose in the first round as I would be if we got our asses handed to us. Agreed, I'm just making a point that we have as good chance as anyone because most of our games are close.
-
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 07:27 PM) Have you seen out record against teams like Boston, A's, Angels, and now the Yankees if you consider them a playoff team? We even played the Angels when they had no Vlad and weren't very good. Don't forget , The Indians would be a playoff team too if it weren't for their record aganst us. we are 2-4 vs Boston. It could easily be 3-4 if it wern't for a rain out. We handed them a couple of games that could have went our way. New York has causgt us at our low point of the season. I thouth we looked just fine last week against them. ( I am not anticipating playing at our level going into the playoffs. I will leave anaheim out of the argument because we just don't know how much Vlad would have impacted our W-L record vs Anaheim. I do know also we have been in just about every game this year. If we get beat in the playoffs it will be close.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 07:23 PM) We were beating bad to slightly above average teams. We're not beating playoff teams. We did not beat any playoff teams from April to July? I find that hard to believe.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 07:16 PM) In the first half of the year, the Indians team was hitting like s***, and the Sox were getting a ton of clutch hits. Now, the White Sox are hitting like s***, and the Indians are tearing the cover off the ball with a plethora of recent clutch hits. The problem is that if that continues the rest of the season, the Indians have a very good chance of surpassing the White Sox. Though I agree with you, I do feel another reversal of fortunes can be in store in September. I felt our team was for real for a long period of time this year. So I can see a strong finish. I am more concerned about our finish then how we do In August.
-
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 07:10 PM) Didn't all of those teams have at least one key offensive player having a career year? All I know, is we won From April to July with our current team. When we were hot not many teams would have beat us. We were hot on numerous occasions this year. We can get hot In October. Who is to Say, Paulie, Dye and Arow can't heat up in the playoffs? Like I said. We were fine for 4 months with our current team.

I'll Start . The 2003 World Champion Marlins Lost 5 in a row from 8-19-03 - 8-23-03 In that stretch the lost 8 of 9. They finished 14-14 in August. We all know who their 3rd base coach was. Maybe that's why he is not losing it? The 2002 World Champion Anaheim Angels lost 6 of 7 9-18-02 - 9-25-02 (right before their title run in the Playoffs.) The 2001 World Champion Arizona Diamondbacks had a record of 10-11 in September that year. Every team has it's ups and downs. Does everyone believe that we will struggle for another month and a half? I don't. I was pestamistic at times too. That is normal during a week of losing. We just have to look at the overall picture. I say let Houston , Oakland, Boston, NY, STL, Min, Cle get hot now. I don't think they will stay hot for 2 straight months. I guarantee every one of those teams will hit a down time before the season ends. Having Cleveland and Minnesota within 10 games from us will keep us on our toes in september. I like having 16 meaningful games in a row between the Twins and Indians. I want our guys working their way into the playoffs. We have seen what WC teams do in the playoffs when they have to fight off 3 or 4 teams to make it in. I still know what we are capable of. We did not lose 4 months of winning in 1 week of losing.

QUOTE(Boxer83080 @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 06:31 PM) Well to me this is panic time....I think we are all frustrated with this Sox team rightnow...they need something...We have to win now...we are not getting griff...or young...who's left??? At least make some kind of move...we need something to be happy about again...I mean all we have was the Geoff Blum trade...and I nearly pissed my pants when that happened...this is bogus I understand, We are all pulling our hair out. I just don't think Boone is the answer. For the record, Neither is Uribe.
-
QUOTE(Boxer83080 @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 06:27 PM) Alright Tony here is your answer..Stats don't mean s***...The Sox are 74-46 and have the worst Batting Average in pretty much all of baseball...So don't give me all these stats...It comes down to crunch time...who would you rather have...a proven player at the major league level who has been there before...or someone who just plain old sucks...Let me ask you who would you pitch around...Uribe or Boone... Are you talking 2005 Boone or 2001 Boone? You can not compare the two.
-
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 06:25 PM) LOL, I knew it was a waste to even try. Don't even bother, we are just wasting our time with this guy. I am by no means defending Uribe. Boone is just not an upgrade, PERIOD.
-
Uribe >> Boone Iguchi >>> Boone Carl (DH) >>> Boone Where would he play?
-
Brett Boone? As hawk would say: where the f*** would he play? We do not need a post juiced, sobbing piece of s*** in Boone. Next.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 02:01 AM) Burnett's last seven starts: 7-0, 0.75 era. Remember when some Sox fans were saying he wasn't that much better than Contreras? I have also taken notice :banghead :puke :fyou

all those Frank Bashers won't point out how our offense has been without him.

whats a company that makes hybrids? Not that I would plan on buying any stock or anything

Is it time to fear another version of backing in the playoffs yet?

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 04:07 PM) How far back is the surging Boston team. Are you sure that just coasting along we are ensured the home field for the playoffs. Methinks you under-estimate our opponents. If we coast the rest of the way, Boston, anaheim and Oakland all have legitimate shots at posting a better W/L . It won't matter of the WC has a better W/L . I would not want both Boston and the AL west winner to have home field over us. Do we win a game 5 in Boston, Oakland, or Anaheim? I don't know yet.
-
QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 04:05 PM) As long as we make it to the playoffs i will be happy. and get swept? The point I'm making is to finish strong and carry that momentum into the playoffs. i.e 2003 Marlins
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 09:38 PM) What's the point in wasting a 3rd rounder on him though when you've already got Tatum Bell, Mike Anderson, Quinten Griffin etc. And a good RB is about the only thing they can draft well. Remember all of the shoddy 1st round CB's they've drafted over the years like Willie Middlebrooks? Because they have already proved they can deal a RB if they have too many. I.e Bailey for Portis
-
Does this pattern scare the s*** out of anyone else? I know we have a huge lead. I just don't want to back into the playoffs like we did in 2000. I know we have played a pretty tough schedule of late. Though, I could point out a handfull of our second half losses that that our 1st half team would have won. Im still confident with this team. But, these splits still crawl in the back of my head.
