Sox @ Minneapolis--Game 1--8/23/05

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 08:04 PM) Let me just ask you this....will you still feel that way if we don't make another trade this season? I will assume the asking price didn't make sense for us on the players being persued for a trade... -

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 08:00 PM) I disagree w/that. I think they either want to add a superstar like Griffey Jr., or nothing at all. Ozzie also doesn't want to be put in a situation where he'd have to bench Everett or Dye every other night, etc. I just think there are a lot of other players available, who aren't superstars, that could really add to this offense. Did you have anybody in mind? The addition we did make might dispute that idea, but I'm wondering if you had somebody in mind. I just think he's doing his job and exploring as many avenues as possible. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 07:37 PM) Whenever the Sox face Johan, I have no expectations of a win. Even if the Sox had won 20 games in a row, I'd still think the same. I just think Santana is the best pitcher in baseball. Fair enough. I just have confidence in Freddy on the road against their offense. -

A letter to the editor, that got me thinking
SleepyWhiteSox replied to southsider2k5's topic in SLaM
Since some are comparing smoking to driving a car and sky diving, does anyone have the statistics? I would assume that the statistics would be much higher for dying from smoking than from driving, especially when considering the large volume of people that drive and the fact that driving takes up much more time than smoking, but I'm not sure. -
Our best pitcher right now is Contreras
SleepyWhiteSox replied to atrain081's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(atrain081 @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 02:21 PM) Mark Buerhle is our best pitcher. He's just in a funk right now. I would have full confidence in him against any opponent, even Boston and Oakland. Me too. You win with your best guys, you lose with your best guys... We'll be left wondering what wouldn've been if we went 0-3 with this Contreras-Garland-Duque rotation people want all of a sudden... -
QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Aug 21, 2005 -> 08:31 PM) This has to been one of those most useless threads ever made... Any bets on how long till it's merged with the White Sox Winner thread... Never? Oh, damn...Shoulda let it die...

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 11:14 PM) There's no doubt in my mind we tried to coast the rest of the way I don't agree with that. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 11:14 PM) The reason we're losing is because our offense is awful. That's the type of thing which can put you into a prolonged slump. With our schedule, a 10 game losing streak is very possible. Unfortunately, I agree with that.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 08:41 PM) Studs...I see. Well, I got a deal on a pair of pimp-ass studs! Getting soccer shoes was actually one of my favorite parts of playing soccer during high school. At that time, Mexican League players were beginning to distinguish themselves by wearing soccer shoes of all sorts of different colors, and usually team colors, when black was still the norm... During the '98 World Cup, one of the players that I used to like came out with green, white, and red shoes, and I couldn't take my eyes off of them. I went to Mexico that summer to visit family, and I was able to find them being sold, so I bought a pair. After that I was hooked on the brand. One of the things I like about Concord brand, and other Mexican brands, is that you can get the shoes that big-name soccer players in Mexico wear, but they're relatively inexpensive. I was getting mine for about $40 a pair, and they were great-quality, along with getting to see the players wear them on TV. I wore these the following season, metallic silver on the outside, a powder blue on the inner part, and flueoresent yellow studs and emblem. I also got a black pair with flueoresent yellow emblem and a white pair with a blue emblem after that.
