QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 20, 2009 -> 03:27 PM) Actually I think this was the opposite. Two of Obama's biggest supporters were against the prayer being in his ceremony, while people who really didn't support him, supported his actions in this case. Eh, I didnt vote for Obama FYI. I didnt know if you were thinking I was a big supporter or something.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 20, 2009 -> 02:55 PM) Obama has the freedom to practice whatever religion he wants to. A prayer at an inauguaration is not an endorsement of a state religion, it is the endorsement of HIS religion. There is a difference, and it is well within his rights to have that done. Yes, but where does it fit into the actual office of President? a Christian prayer was so out of place at an event like this, especially one that is trying to historically link all peoples of different races, creeds and relgions. Its simply very strange to have the Lord's Prayer when being inducted into a federal office.
-
Heres the thing, why must we have a prayer before the oath is given? Arent we trying to show that many races, creeds and religions are what make up America, and then we do a VERY Christian prayer? f***ing strange. What happened to the seperation of church and state?

QUOTE (daa84 @ Jan 20, 2009 -> 10:23 AM) the power play has really been struggling the last few games All of our special teams has been down a bit. I understand that Q wants to shuffle the lines to get some energy, but I think he may be tweaking too much. Also it really shows what losing keith does to this team. -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 20, 2009 -> 09:13 AM) Yeah, if you aren't a big time swimmer, swimming uses a bunch of muscles you may not otherwise get much work on. Its a great addition. Another positive is that just about everyone at my gym is afraid to get into the pool since the entire Gym looks down on it so you can always grab a lane at any time of the day.

QUOTE (Texsox @ Jan 20, 2009 -> 09:30 AM) LOL, I remember those days. Our decorating style went from early garage sale > Mediterranean > Little Tykes > Good progression. I am someone who NOW throws a ton of stuff away or donates alot of stuff to charity once I dont use it anymore. This really changed about the time my house burned down in college and I had nothing left and had to restock everything Ive ever had and I realized that there is just some junk you never miss.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jan 19, 2009 -> 04:46 PM) I have heard swimming is a dynamite workout, but 1) I suck at swimming and 2) I've never been a water person. I wish I was though, cause then I would try some triathlons. It might be a better workout because you arent a good swimmer. Most good swimmers move at maximum efficiency which helps them turn more laps with less effort. You might swim a mile and burn twice as many calories. I would recommend it to everyone. I am not a great swimmer but will supplement my cardio with the occasional couple mile swim and it just drains me.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 19, 2009 -> 02:55 PM) Follow up comments: Rock: I posted that before OSU beat Michigan, if I was to rerank I would put OSU above Michigan. The question of OSU versus Wisconsin is a toss up right now, but I think that if they played today that Wisconsin would win, thus I rank them slightly above OSU. Brian: Well Michigan has lost at home to both Wisconsin and OSU. They lost by 12 to Wisconsin and 7 to OSU. It is hard for me to rank Michigan over those 2 teams regardless of whether or not they beat Duke and UCLA. I posted that before OSU beat Michigan hence why I had them at 5. NCAA may take 5 Big 10 teams this year, Im just saying that right now the only "locks" are the top 4 in the Big 10. I believe the Big 10 will get 4 selections minimum, therefore unless you are one of those top 4 Im not considering the team in. Zen: Posted that before OSU beat Michigan. OSU over Michigan at this point and close with Wisconsin. Obviously as the season progresses things are going to change, who thought Minnesota would lose to NU after coming back from 14 down to beat Wisconsin for the first time in Minnesota history in the Kohl Center. Wisconsin has not closed out games they have had the lead in and they are suffering. If theycan fix it they will be a top 3 team in the Big 10, if they dont they will be below OSU. What would you say is Wisco's signature win? IM just curious because I dont see a win against a ranked team yet. OSU has beaten #16 Butler, #19 Notre Dame and Miami and UM who were both just ranked. As of today's they have beaten 2 top 25 teams, and yet you are ranking them below Wisco who has 5 losses already and no real signature win. -
QUOTE (klaus kinski @ Jan 19, 2009 -> 12:59 PM) I really wonder who is worse at developing young talent-the Bears or the Scrubs? I would say that Pie isnt done yet, and has been mishandled somewhat by the Cubs.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jan 19, 2009 -> 12:06 PM) I train for half-marathons, so I need the running to get better for that. However, I do ride my bike around campus daily which can accumulate to two miles, i know its not really the same, but I do get some variation there. I also change up my running though mixing in speed workouts, distance runs, easy days and so on. For weights as well its good to do alot of different variations so that you can "confuse" your muscles instead of getting into a rut. Also for cardio I like to mix in swimming because I feel that it really helps offset the running I do.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 19, 2009 -> 02:16 PM) I admit our rotation looks a lot better to me with a veteran as No. 4 starter. Tell me ... can Colon pitch? Are you folks hopeful? My other queston mark is Betemit. Again are you folks hopeful? The lineup could go either way. It seems to me it's all on CQ and Lexi. We pretty much know what we are gonna get out of the big boppers. Can CQ and Lexi carry the club? Maybe. Colon looked pretty damn good at times last year, im hoping he is in even better shape.

QUOTE (tonyho7476 @ Jan 19, 2009 -> 12:40 PM) So, when you stayed there, where did you park? And what did it cost? I might cab it then. /threadjack Hey I was going to ask you how you've liked the XM/Sirius merger. Channel 53 is quickly become part of my regular rotation, but I am still exploring other Sirius channels.

HDMI cables are 1.50 on Amazon. I think its hilarious that folks will spend 100 bucks on them at best buy.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jan 19, 2009 -> 09:52 AM) Since high school, I did cross country and we would run 6 days a week then rest on Sundays. Then on Sundays, I would do a light lift. I take days off though periodically, probably one every three weeks. Do you change up your routines a bunch? I can see some serious risk of a plateau if you work out 7 days a week and just repeat weeks over and over. I've found you have to confuse your muscle groups every week to get consistent results. This includes different ways of doing cardio other than running.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jan 19, 2009 -> 10:55 AM) Only if the Padres are now willing to take garbage in return, because that's all the Cubs have at least in terms of what they are willing to trade. Thats all they ever had. The pads would be smart to hold onto Peavy until at least the break when a team will get despertate for an arm.

QUOTE (Felix @ Jan 19, 2009 -> 10:48 AM) The game itself was terrible, but when the home team gets booed coming onto the court and the home team gets cheered with the school fight song getting blasted before the game, there is something serious wrong with the home team's fans. Its not that different than in football. When I go watch the Bucks in Evanston, the crowd is almost always mostly OSU fans. -

QUOTE (zenryan @ Jan 18, 2009 -> 10:06 PM) I dont pay attention to Big 10 basketball much but that's a pretty deep conference. I dont think OSU should be behind Michigan and Wisconsin. But I would put Ill St at number 1. The Big Ten is going to be a very good conference in the upcoming years, its def worth watching. -

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 17, 2009 -> 05:32 PM) Well here is how I would rank the Big 10 now: 1. MSU 2. Purdue/ Minnesota 4. Illinois --------------------- (Above 4 are in NCAA tournament as of now) 5. Wisconsin 6. Michigan 7. OSU --------------------- (Above 3 are bubble) 8. Penn State 9. Iowa 10. Indiana 11. Northwestern There is still a lot of season to be played but thats how I see it right now. Hatin on the Buckeyes a little bit there. -
www.amazon.com people. It will save you money, gas, and the aggrevation of standing in long lines.

Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. Thats all I see when "trying" to justify anything he has done. His team's time has passed and so has his. He should be gone after this season without a doubt. He is the worst GM in this town which says alot. The Bulls are losing fans, games and opportunities to start building a real time around a future star.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 16, 2009 -> 03:42 PM) With LBs, especially MLBs, they live and die by the play of the DTs which this year was inconsistent at best. Ray Lewis said something to the effect of "put a fat guy in front of me and I can play forever." Brown is still excellent in run support but was pretty average in coverage. The FS play wasn't that great though. The whole thing is a symbiotic relationship. You can't have one without the other. Isnt it funny we are arguing who is the most craptastic group? The whole defense is going to need to be turned over here in the next few seasons IMO. The only young guy I really like moving forward is Marcus Harrison. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 16, 2009 -> 01:43 PM) I still like him in the #2 spot. I think Getz settles into that role. Alexei needs to be hitting 6ish so he can hit with runners on or become a speed/stealing option after our 3,4,5 GDP out of an inning.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 16, 2009 -> 03:23 PM) The secondary wasn't THAT bad. Tillman was about the same as he ever was, Vasher was awful, but the guys filling in for Vasher did a good job. The problems in the secondary had to do with the opposing QB simply having too much time to throw (see TB, ATL, etc.) and bad playcalling (see just about every 3rd and long where a post was called and completed easily). The seams in the defense were gaping wide. Its not the pass rush that let someone like Griese have his best game against the Bears. The pass rush needs a few seconds to get penetration and the coverage wasnt there to allow pressure at times. We have a terrible secondary. Vasher is done at this point, we dont have a true starter to fill in. Our safeties are average AT BEST. Dont discount the value of a dominant DB, it eliminates usually a team's best threat and half the field. 2 seconds more coverage leads to sacks. We have plenty of DE talent IMO but are VERY thin at LB especially with Urlacher moving into decline and at DB we have a crew of fillins. -
QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 16, 2009 -> 03:30 PM) You guys are convincing me to back down from my recent Pax hatred a little. I agree that not all of those moves are his fault. Some of them just backfired horribly. Dont be convinced, he is a s***ty GM. If you cant fault picks that he had made, who can you fault? Lady Luck? The Noah pick was terrible from the min Pax thought about taking him. I hated him for his skills and still do. Aldridge was considered a perfect fit for the Bulls, what does Pax do? Trades him for a "project" player that wasnt very good in college. His time is UP. Its funny how people can attack Kenny Williams on this site but give a free pass to probably the worst GM in this city.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 15, 2009 -> 07:56 PM) You were ahead of the curve then, my friend. Most ten year olds are finding stupider and stupider ways of injuring themselves. That is if they ever venture outside and if their parents allow them out of the 20 yard radius that has become the norm nowadays.
