106 players have drug exemptions b/c of ADHD in MLB
RockRaines replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Right, ADHD medication actually speeds up those folks to slow them down. To people without the disorder, its basically taking speed. You can crush it up and snort it and will react like its very very cut up cocaine. For baseball players who play 162 games a year, its basically replacing greenies. -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 12, 2009 -> 01:29 PM) He might be talking about Dawson. Baines stays alive, barely, with 5.9%. Grace falls out - another Cub. Blyleven, Raines and Dawson, IMO, are all obvious picks. They should get in. I can't believe how low Raines' vote numbers are. Dawson? Get the f*** outta here. He was a corner OF'er and wasnt even as good of a hitter as Raines. Tim Raines voting results are pathetic and the HOF voters should be ashamed of themselves. Once again cementing the fact that the HOF is a f***ing joke. I think Rob Neyer says it best: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?...;name=Neyer_Rob

QUOTE (maki @ Jan 12, 2009 -> 10:44 AM) anyone ever hear back from a rep about upgrading for this year? apparently our regular emails/calls didn't help as we never received one response. I see you can get actual seats on TM now, so I'm assuming my window to do anything better on seats has closed. Anyone have any success? I would imagine the rhetoric about 95% renewal may have changed in the last month or two. My guy gave me the same response I have been getting for 3 years: cant move you anywhere.

Freddy Garcia speculation (Closed - Garcia Signs W/Mets)
RockRaines replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 12, 2009 -> 09:01 AM) I hope they bring him in too, but I disagree about him having to be 100% healthy if the contract is more than the minimum guaranteed. They brought in Loaisa last year and he was far from 100%. I was saying Freddy in particular. They had a chance to bring him in last year and didnt. -

QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 12, 2009 -> 08:47 AM) An injury to his achilles shouldn't change anything as long as he regains the flexibility and there isn't any reason he shouldn't. I've had many patients come back from this injury and do fine. This includes patients in baseball, football, rugby players, triathletes and marathon runners. The only reason his career would be over is that he was declining before the injury. Thanks for the insight, I would have thought the exact opposite. And I would be in favor of bringing back Freddy. He showed that he still could pitch after the recovery and I think he will have added some strength in the offseaon. One thing is for sure (which was proved last season) KW and Ozzie wont bring him in if he isnt 100 percent healthy. -

I watched the spot call again today, that receiver totally fumbled the ball out of bounds behind the marker. How can I see that but guys standing 2 feet away cannot? -
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 6, 2009 -> 10:56 AM) pretty much a phone and contact organizer Curve will do you just fine, if you dont have corp email then you just dont set up your gmail POP accounts and you'll be fine. Your messages folder will just be for texts then. The curve and the bold are both pretty awesome. I have a friend who swore by her palm devices and said she would never go to BB and is now a blackberry addict.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jan 5, 2009 -> 09:26 PM) http://www.baseball-reference.com/b/bradlmi01.shtml wow, he's played over 140 games once, back in '04, 126 last year and 101 in '03. Also, the year he played the most his OPS+ was 108. Since '02 (which I used because I'm not sure if his first few years he was up and down from the minors) he has averaged 100 games and 353 ABs a year. But don't forget he has a cute name that Cubs fans can make shirts for And how many of those games has he played in the field? THATS where its going to hurt him.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 6, 2009 -> 01:25 PM) Can you say dumbass? At least when Pete Carroll said the exact same thing it had some validity. I'd bet everything I own that USC would kill Texas. If they thought OSU's defense was tough, USC's is much better. Texas' defense would be gassed and would be scored on repeatedly. -
The curve is prob the best phone ive ever had. If its email you want, the only way to go is blackberry.

QUOTE (daa84 @ Jan 5, 2009 -> 11:31 PM) i thought he played poorly too...i mean, he can scramble, but hes been a much better passer this year than he showed tonight...and hes tall enough to catch a fade...even though he interfered on the TD as well as the 2pt conversion Thats just false, there was almost zero contact on the TD and clear defensive interference on the 2 pt conversion as there was contact while the ball was in the air. And he had a PRETTY good game. His throws were pretty bad, but he made huge plays with his feet. Theres a reason Mack Brown Gushed about him for 3 min in his postgame interview. And I knew this would happen, a close game or an OSU win and Texas was "disinterested" or "lost focus." Bulls***. Texas hadnt seen a defense like OSU's all season and didnt know what to do with a power running game. -

QUOTE (daa84 @ Jan 5, 2009 -> 10:51 PM) defensive coordinator should be fired for OSU....you have single coverage with a safety on the reciever that has burned you all night with no help over the top with 25 seconds left?? awful....then the dumbass tried playing the ball even though the reciever had the ball for like 2 seconds by the time he got there...brutal He is terrible. Alot ofOSU fans have been calling for his head for a couple of seasons. The defense hasnt quite been the same since Dantonio left. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 5, 2009 -> 10:53 PM) OSU had their chances but just couldnt do it. They make the field goal, the defensive end catches the ball that hits him in the chest, things maybe go differently. Big 10 coaching has been brutal, maybe thats the reason why they cant win bowl games. I think it was decently coached at times though, not any worse than Texas' play calling at times. I think there has been a small decrease in overall team talent for OSU at least, but we have lots of young top tier guys on the way to bring it back to what we think will be a very high level. Frankly, Texas should have run away with this game if you compared the teams. Big 12 teams have been dissapointing to me, its hard to think that Texas beat Oklahoma who is going to face off with what I think is a very good Fla team for the national championship. OSU def played better this game with Pryor many games older and with half of Beanie, but man USC beat the s*** out of us, they dominated us much more than Texas even looked capable of. -

Im putting my entire mortgage on Fla. One spot away from the win. It looked like the receiver fumbled out of bounds to me. Whatev. Good game by Pryor, he was a man amongst boys at times. -

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jan 5, 2009 -> 05:07 PM) Really? Then cool. Now, I hope Texas beats their ass. I can't stand the Buckeyes. The odds are good that they will. OSU really should have played Georgia or someone like that. Now lets say Texas beats OSU by 30+ and Oklahoma beats Fla. Who is YOUR national champion people? USC Utah Texas Oklahoma -
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 5, 2009 -> 03:04 PM) I would agree with that. Maybe a little drastic, but probably below a 6. Women's ideal would be around that tiny, guys would prob be from 2-6.

QUOTE (scenario @ Jan 5, 2009 -> 03:51 PM) I'd be willing to bet someone offers Garland 3 years - $36M. And I can't see him getting less than $10M per year. I'm not suggesting that he's worth $12M per year, or that we should pay that. But I think somewhere along the line before the season starts some pitching hungry team will pony up the money. Considering Lowe has a top offer of 3-36 I dont think Garland, who is not close to the pitcher Lowe is, will get anywhere close to 12. I bet he signs for around 7-9 per.
