  1. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 11, 2008 -> 05:53 PM) Because if you keep him in AAA for another season, and he doesn't produce well, and you never use him, his value keeps dropping, and he's not going to be in your long - term plans, why does it make sense to keep him? I just think that if a team such as Florida that needs a young CF (since Maybin isn't ready) came calling, KW would certainly listen, especially if he could get some young pitching back. If you can get equal or better value, you dont unload him to unload him, which at this point, you would be doing. He's worth more to the Sox as a reserve right now, than to deal him without seeing if he can play for us.
  2. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Mar 11, 2008 -> 05:55 PM) Uribe's hit better than Richar. You think he's the better option, then? Oh, im sorry, I didnt know we were comparing apples to oranges. Maybe compare two prospects like Ramirez and Richar, then you will be more on track.
  3. QUOTE(iamshack @ Mar 11, 2008 -> 05:44 PM) I think that was the original plan...but he's showcasing a bit too much right now....if the guy shows he's making strides, keep him and deal Owens. I don't think anyone would deny that Brian has more upside than Owens. He has a huge amount of upside compared to Owens. BA could be a solid 5 tool player.
  4. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 11, 2008 -> 05:44 PM) But his value may not be as high as it's been (currently) since this time in ST back in 2006 RockRaines. And considering we have quite a few alternatives in the OF now, it wouldn't surprise me to see a deal being made. The Sox still need to look at re-stocking their farm system for instance. They could try using BA as part of a deal for Brian Roberts maybe? So there are a few options. Yeah, if we were the cubs, Roberts isnt coming here. And why would it make sense to trade him? Would you get anything nearly as valuable as his talents in return? Probably not, it makes more sense to the organization and our system to either play him at the major league level or have him in AAA in case of an injury or an under performing player. Trading someone just to trade someone is stupid.
  5. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Mar 11, 2008 -> 05:44 PM) He was the golden boy of the organization in 2006. That was 2 years ago. Last year, Ozzie essentially threw him under the bus, and they haven't been happy with him since. If he's changed and Ozzie and KW both feel it, perhaps he may make the team or stay in the organization. Perhaps not though too, what with them bringing in both Swisher and Quentin, and their love affair with Jerry Owens. Only time will really tell. What exactly did Ozzie do to throw him under the bus? Brian had a starting spot basically handed to him on a team favored to go to the World Series and he responded by having a bad season, came unprepared, and then showed up with a bad attitude. That sounds like Brian threw himself under the bus.
  6. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 10, 2008 -> 07:33 PM) Yeah, and that 1 season wasn't very good. If B-Mac was 100% healthy, I'd take him over Danks right now. Of course, John could come out and have a good season, and then I'd look like an idiot if someone bumps this and B-Mac is on the shelf. And BMAC's havent been either, 1 bad year out of the pen and 1 injury filled year. Danks comes up a year before expected and performs well until he hits a giant wall. Danks over BMAC in a heartbeat.
  7. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Mar 11, 2008 -> 04:08 PM) I still think their best team is Swisher leading off and playing left and Anderson in center. Neither Quintin or Owens has produced enough in their professional careers to make me believe otherwise. Darin Erstad really f***ed this team up. Owens has hit better at the MLB level than Brian has, so what makes you think Brian is a better option?
  8. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Mar 11, 2008 -> 05:39 PM) That tells me they are showcasing him rather than giving him an opportunity to prove himself so he can make the team. Maybe, or maybe not. He's a first round pick, golden boy of the org, heir apparent in CF, 5 tool player, and has options left. Why trade him for something worth less? His value has been higher before and is worth more to the org if he fulfills his promise.
  9. I just dont understand some of the reasoning that has been rampant on this board lately. If a player doesnt fit on our major league team, trade him? Why? You wont get equal value for him in return. BA if he doesnt make the team is not going to be traded, we need that depth in our minors. Quentin, Owens, Bourgeois, Ramirez, Crede, Fields, Uribe, Pablo, etc. We need all that depth, we need it. If BA doesnt make the team, he plays in Charlotte, bar none And it was KW or Ozzie ego that put BA in the minors, it was his lack of production and lack of preparation. It looks like he may have figured a little bit of it out and it would still be nice for him as a 5 tool player to figure it out.
  10. Rhino is severely overrated, there will be more dudes there than girls most likely, its become the tourist trap of strip clubs.
  11. We would be lucky to get any player for Crede right now, I dont know how anyone is saying we should get a legit starter or prospect. He's not even the best 3B available on the market right now. Its ridiculous how much this board overrated Crede. We are going to be lucky to get a player that has even a slim chance at making the mlb roster.
  12. Sorinao broken finger, Pie twisted testicle, coincidence?
  13. Wheres the Crede is equal to Ventura offensively and superior defensively camps? I LOVED that legend. JOe Crede sucks, plain and simple.
  14. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Mar 10, 2008 -> 04:34 PM) i'm glad to hear he's feeling better. I still think he's our best shot at lead off. I think Bourgeois is.
  15. Eggy's sinker is nasty, but he leaves it up alot.
  16. Im waiting to see if the pitchers figure out the book on A-ram. He certainly appears to be a good hitter with runners on. He has good gap to gap power.
  17. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Mar 9, 2008 -> 11:14 AM) Except Konerko didn't actually sign a hometown discount. Where's Kalapse with that sheet and website? (I don't know it by heart. ) Didnt LA offer him more money?

    LOST!!!!

Does anyone find themselves watching this show and then just thinking "f*** Lost." This show is so awesome it kills me.
  19. QUOTE(knightni @ Mar 8, 2008 -> 11:56 AM) AHAHAHAHAHA! We merge all the Crede threads and what happens? We talk about Ventura and Ron Friggin' Santo in the thread. Better than the legend of Joe Crede. We are finally talking about some serious 3B.
  20. QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 8, 2008 -> 11:15 AM) I hope he makes it before he dies. Growing up in the 60's and in the Chicago area, I would get home from school and turn on the Cubs. Hey, I was always a Sox fan but it was baseball on TV so I watched. I saw a lot of Ron Santo playing baseball, and in my opinion he deserves to be in the Hall. Rock, you are a damn good poster here, so don't take this wrong. But I'm not going to argue about it with anybody. I remember just how good Santo was and if anybody else wants to jump in with stats or whatever to shoot my opinion down, you won't change my mind. Brooks Robinson was the best 3b of the era, but Ron Santo was a close second to him. I think the biggest reason he is not in the Hall is because from that '69 team Jenkins, Banks and Williams are in. Banks was a shell of his former self by that time so that shouldn't be held against Santo. In fact, I think Santo deserves it more than Jenkins. I'm rambling now, so I'll stop. I know I keep ... so much for stopping ... comparing Santo to Brooks. But I look at that comparison like I look at comparing Billy Pierce to Whitey Ford. If one is in, the other should be. And Chicago ends up on the short in in both cases. I agree with you, numbers-wise he deserves to be in the hall. His persona during the era and the people who vote are the only things that are really keeping him out. Its a shame, but its that way with alot of players who should be there.
  21. QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 8, 2008 -> 10:48 AM) Take your Cub hater glasses off and look at what the man did. He was the best 3B in NL during the 60's. Compare his numbers to Brooks. Not that far off. The man deserves to be in the Hall. I don't care what uniform he wore or how bad of a color man he is in the radio booth. I was half kidding, but he still wont make the hall, the same way that Ventura wont, and they actually have pretty similar numbers. Santo never had a real stand out season, never really factored in the MVP race or playoff race, and played on crappy teams a majority of his career. Because of those reason, he probably wont get in, although he should and still has a chance to. I would argue his numbers were worthy especially during a "pitchers era", but he doesnt have that hook to hang his HOF hat on. Fun fact: Santo led the NL in walks 4 times.
  22. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Mar 8, 2008 -> 09:40 AM) He. f***ing. Ducked. Out. Of. The. Ball's. Way. Great. thats called not knowing where the other receivers are during the play. He thought it was going to someone behind him, which was the Lb's feet.
  23. QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 8, 2008 -> 09:11 AM) When I first read the Ventura vs. Crede question, I thought only this. Robin! Without a doubt. And as for the some of the other things mentioned. Joe Crede is no Brooks Robinson. Joe Crede is no Robin Ventura. Robin Ventura is no Brooks Robinson. I DO think Santo belongs in the HOF. The best thing Santo did in his career is kicking up his heels, other than that, no chance.
  24. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 8, 2008 -> 12:06 AM) They'd tell Hawk to pipe down. *applause*
  25. not making it this year, sucks.
