Any one concerned about the pitching
QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Dec 12, 2005 -> 10:01 AM) I too have heard that about BA Rock, but I'm not willing to say he's going to be as good as Rowand his first year in the bigs defensively. I think he will be a + CF but as good or better than Arow? I'll reserve judgement. Thats fair, but remember that A-row projected as a corner OF'er his minor league career, and BA has been playing it.

TEJADA
IM glad this thread died, because I didnt want to post the exact same arguments that we had 2 days before this guy even started this thread.

Any one concerned about the pitching
QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Dec 11, 2005 -> 11:18 PM) " 2 of the 3 pieces remain the same, BA is projected to roughly the same of Rowand--less range, better arm. How is that a huge problem? FYI. I think BA has more range than A-row, he has more speed, and gets just as good as jumps.

13 game "Ozzie Plan" tickets
well its 13 games and you can view pricing on the internet I believe. A gift for your boss?? Maybe try a few less games, but still an extremely creative idea, good luck!

4th OF possibilities
QUOTE(JimH @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 01:14 PM) Davanon was on the juice? Do tell. Borchard could be traded before 4/1/06 and based on KW's comments, he will be. I have nothing against Borchard, I have pulled for him over the years but realistically speaking it makes sense that Ozzie wants speed and defense. Joe's biggest tool is his power. Since Davanon was DFA'd a few days ago, his situation should come to light fairly soon anyways. But I'm sure there are numerous options, and you are correct, Borchard is one of them. Edit: I also think they will move Willie for a prospect before the non tender date. Becuase of the obvious nature of the answer, I will allow you to post his power numbers over the past 3 seasons. Also, I would like your seats for opening day this year.....

UPDATE: Tejada never wanted trade
QUOTE(BlackBetsy @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 03:53 PM) Even if we got rid of Garland, we would have 5 proven starters (or, if you would like, 4 proven starters and 1 great prospect who had a sub-2 ERA down the stretch last year). We can't have a 6 man rotation. So it's just a matter of getting a return for the 6th starter. so El duque is worth 100 innings, who will start for his other 100 innings? Hmmm?? Seriously though, I know this thread is dying. But I really only picked that side of the argument so there was someone to argue with. Sorry.

4th OF possibilities
Davannon was on the juice and Willie will be non-tendered. Borchard either plays for us, or we lose him for nothing. I think its to the point where he makes the team.

UPDATE: Tejada never wanted trade
QUOTE(BlackBetsy @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 11:58 AM) Why picture Munoz, Diaz & Wright? El Duque would be the 5th starter, not any of them (Wright is cooked anyway). So it doesn't lose us any wins. That's my calculation. You only need someone if one of the 5 get hurt. Even then, you can skip starts to avoid putting too many starts in the hands of a replacement. Becuase those are the players who filled in for us as 5th starter when we didnt think it was important. Then we finished in 2nd place. Then we put together a rotation with 5 proven starters, got rid of boppers and brought in defensive players, including Uribe who is underrated at this point, and we won the world series. Now people are drooling at the prospect of trading a little pitching to bring back those boppers again. I say why go in reverse to the way that didnt work?

UPDATE: Tejada never wanted trade
Felix Diaz, Arnie Munoz, Kris Honel. Seriously, you wouldnt mind them starting some games for you? PItching+defense wins championships. Do you recall what Tejada and others have done for Baltimore? Do you recall us beating them? Heres a hint-it wasnt our offense.

Jerry Owens
From espn BA chat Deege (Champaign): Aaron, who do you see starting in center for the White Sox next season between Jerry Owens and Brian Anderson? SportsNation Aaron Fitt: I'm as big a Jerry Owens fan as you'll find, and his year at Birmingham in 2005 was very encouraging, particularly after he skipped a level. But that job will belong to Anderson next year -- at least until Chris Young takes it away in 2007 or '08. Chris Young is a legitimate stud in waiting -- he's got all the tools and tremendous makeup to boot. Owens probably profiles as a solid fourth OF.

UPDATE: Tejada never wanted trade
QUOTE(Reddy @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 11:19 AM) i agree with you BUT duque was our 5th starter last year and we won the WS... keep that in mind. granted BMAC held it up at the end of the year, but with our improved offense maybe we'll win some more of those one run games ya know? Duque is ONE year older, and was hurt alot of the second half. Still confident?
