  1. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 12:17 PM) Read your post again & then try & convince me that your tone is not sarcastic towards the approval process for healthcare goods & services in America. I noticed you didn't bother to mention a thing about the legal aspects of America's healthcare system & how that burdens the system as whole. As for medical innovation overseas I don't see one line of what I wrote that suggests anything sarcastic towards that. But since you brought it up I agree with you. America not only doesn't have a monopoly on healthcare but in many areas is falling behind other countries. Innovation is occuring in Japan at a brisk rate. As for the homework debate, I'm sorry but Calculus is not a mandatory class nor one that does not require pre-requisites. You must both apply & qualify to be admitted into the class. It's not out of the ordinary for this to happen at a university & Calculus would certainly qualify as a college-prep class. Likewise since it's just homework the teacher doesn't have to be there as long as the student as some form of tutoring available to them from the school. Read your post again, and then try to convince me it has any relevance to the SOX. I just wasted 2 minutes of my life reading that post that I can never get back. :headshake
  2. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 08:26 AM) You mean to tell me that he didn't like being treated like an endanger servant? What you mean the Great KW.. actually did this? NOOOOO Never .. Mags, came out with the truth again, you people don't like it.. its that simple. The people that are ripping on mags reminds of some other fans on the other side of town that turned on their "superstar". Lets not become like them, time to blame the real problem in this mess.. KW. Wow, siding with Maggs is a pretty thin way to hate on KW, we all know you hate him, but in this case, Maggs was wrong. He could have signed with us, he didnt, he could of been honest with us, so we could offer him arbitration, he wasnt. Face it, KW played his cards right in this situation and the Tigers got stuck with yet another bad contract.
  3. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 11:06 PM) How many of those guys have had 2 good seasons out of the last 3? Like, 1? or does two players hitting 300 make your lineup stacked????
  4. so we all agree we will be better. Cool, sounds like this is a dead issue.
  5. It doesnt really matter what they say. People read the trib and adopt its opinions. They own the cubs, and therefor need to make the fan base feel good about their terrible offseason. The best way they thought they could do this was in a comparison to the SOX. One of the opening lines in the article was that the cubs are focusing on OBP and defense, just like the sox. If you call signing Burnitz an increase in OBP then I need to learn something about baseball. They have arguabley the worst defensive infield in the NL with Nomar, Error Ramirez, and Walker, yet the Trib points out that their focus was defense. It is nothing but advertising for the team. I say f*** them, lets just kick the s*** out of them this year.
  6. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Feb 4, 2005 -> 12:26 PM) I thought they face stadiums east so the sun isnt setting in the batters eyes but if they pointed it the same way as wrigley is, then it would have a skyline view to the firstbase side
  7. that is exactly why I only have a road 83 authentic fisk-never will go out of style
  8. little big league, major league, angels in the outfield I believe as well. The sox were always dominating in those movies
  9. I like it in the city, eventually the cubs are going to have to abandon their s***hole of a field on addison st, and move to the northern burbs, I like the cell where it is. Plus bridgeport has gotten alot better in the last few years, maybe we are looking at a southside revival!!!
  10. QUOTE(babybearhater @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 10:02 PM) Whoa, my bad, I didnt know they were about to be in the 600 club as well. Thank god Anthrax corrected me on that, it would have been embarrasing if he didnt. Comparing Sosa to Giambi and Camminitti is hardly a comparison, but it was a good shot in the dark
  11. speak to a cubs fan today as well, just as an experiement, and listen to how they back up the judgements. I was told the Rowand has yet to play a full season as a center fielder and he has no power and doesnt hit for average like hollandsworth.
  12. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 04:59 PM) No that's facing south. I meant first base
  13. QUOTE(qwerty @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 04:16 PM) Steroids and corked bats do that to you. Even if he was, so were alot of other players, he was still a dominant force
  14. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 04:55 PM) Baseball stadiums face some degree of east... it's universal. It's in the rulebook. If they wanted the skyline in the OF, they should have built it over by the UC. If it would have been turned so that third base was towards the lake, that would get it done
  15. sort of a random topic. dont you think???
  16. QUOTE(Man Of Steel @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 03:58 PM) Thank you.. to many people caught up in the anti cub of this situation Im more anti-cub than most people, and I absolutely HATE sammy. But fact is, when a player hits 308,288,320,328 with 66,63,50,64,49 hr's and at one point had an OBP of 437 thats pretty damn good. He was a very very tough out. I will always believe that Frank is the better hitter however.
  17. Everybody is pointing to the loss of LEE. Its big, BUT, they arent looking at the black hole which has been eliminated at the bottom of the lineup. This is why the "experts" are almost always wrong. How many of their division champs that they picked last year, actually turned out. Maybe 1???? Both centrals were wrong, west was off, I mean come on, these guys are just guessing like everyone else
  18. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 03:51 PM) Truth be told, I think that if the Sox were consistently winning, our fans would travel to friggin' Champaign to see the Sox (OK -- I'm going overboard a lot, but you get the point). My only real problem with the stadium is that the outfield backdrop doesn't face the Chicago skyline. It'd be a much more appealing upper deck seat, IMHO, if you'd see the Comisky firework scoreboard, and right behind it, the Sears tower and the rest of the Chicago skyline... AMEN, I have been saying that for years. They thought the "lake view" would be better, boy were they wrong. I think they should of kept the old stadium and just did a sort of soldier field renovation on it.
  19. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 03:49 PM) Sosa's an overrated player and has been for a while imo. Sosa always hits a ton of homers but he batted .253 with a .332 obp percentage last year not very impressive numbers. I still think the orioles finish in the cellar this year. NObody is overrated when you win the MVP of your league, and are about to be the 5 player in the 600 homerun club. He has been on the decline since he got hit in the head. But a few years ago, he was the hardest out in the NL. Im glad he is gone, but he will definatley benefit the orioles this year. That offensive lineup is murderous
  20. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 12:18 PM) OK ... just posting a question. Just wondering what people's thoughts are. Didn't mean to ruffle any feathers. He just doesnt like topics where he cant post lines and lines of stats. I for one, wouldnt go to very many games since I live in the city. Its alot easier, I think, to come down to the south side via the train, or even 55 than go up north on 355. I honestly think that the attendance would be lower.
  21. wasnt this posted right when we signed AJ???
  22. i usually hit at least 40 games. My tix are on the first base side of home plate. About halfway up the baseline.
  23. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Feb 2, 2005 -> 02:30 PM) If you don't like what I post.. don't read it..People hate reading the truth.. as you do. and the truth is.....that you hate Kenny??? ok I was going to start a thread on how much I hate black licorice, but I realize that people do indeed hate the truth. Fact is, coming from a person who apparently just aquires favorite teams, i couldnt care less about what you think of our prospects. Getting info from espn (the truth) last year would've definatley proven that BMAC was pretty much worthless to our franchise, which now we know is not the truth. I would put little stock in what these "experts" think anyway, especially with the percentage of the never-fail prospects that dont quite turn out.
  24. I can just imagine "uh yeah I have a question, have you been eating from the insane root?"
