QUOTE (MEANS @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 07:56 AM) kinda pissed they hyped up the big blowup/meltdown on last nights ep only to not show it until tonight. I find myself rooting for people who I didn't quite like at first/still not decided on just because Devin is such a douche. I read through it on onlinebigbrother.com so much s*** happened in that fight including drug abuse accusations.

QUOTE (Knuckles @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 08:58 AM) Cowley says LeBron most likely staying in Miami and that Bulls were runner up in the Melo sweepstakes. Tweets from last night but haven't been posted here so just passing the info. Also, please someone remember who I am.

Trying to find relationship thrd, pregnancy thread :-)

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 07:06 AM) Trust me, I've had too much fun the last 9 years in Colombia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, South Korea, the Czech Republic and China. Time to settle down and watch movies like "The Neighbors," haha. At any rate, the expiration date for being Owen Wilson/Vince Vaughn or Will Ferrell from Wedding Crashers was already long overdue. That said, it's quite the experience to be planning a second wedding (my first was in Russia and I only was involved in planning/organizing 10% or so) and getting ready for a child simultaneously. Plus, there's all these things like a solid stroller (cost in China is $1500, roughly), powdered milk (not safe in China), medicine for diaper rashes, etc., to buy and ship back while I'm in the US in August. I have Neighbors although its called "bad Neighbors" and its has japanese subtitles. Right up your alley. -
QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 07:11 AM) Really excited. This is a big get for our organization. Hope he's an ace. Thanks for all your updates Rock! Let's just say I'll be buying someone a nice scotch tonight

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 06:48 AM) Sounds like the fun stuff already happened. Yeah and now it's over, forever. -
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 06:42 AM) They didn't have to. Rodon wasn't going to turn down $6M to go back to college, and if he was going to turn down $6M then he's an idiot and I don't want him. It isn't so much just this signing as the precedent it sets. Now that the Sox have gone over slot once, every first round pick from now on is going to expect it. Setting a bad precedent. I don't understand seeing negatives about signing pretty much the number one guy in the draft. I'm stoked
-
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 06:39 AM) Why did the Sox cave in? Hahn must turn into a little girl when in a room with Boras. They didn't want to but they had to. I'm certainly not upset.

Official Recruiting Thread II
RockRaines replied to greasywheels121's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 12:50 AM) You really try to temper expectations on recruiting and then Jerry Meyer flips his Crystal Ball on Elijah Thomas to Illinois. I hate that stupid crystal ball thing. Usually one guy has info and the rest just flip after the most recent visit. -
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 10:06 PM) I'm crazy but still holding out the slimmest hope for Melo. The Bulls with Melo and the Cavs with LeBron and Love in addition to the Wizards and Pacers would at least give the East four fun teams to watch. Bosh in Houston would make them even more fun to watch. But it all rests on Melo actually deciding to go with the Bulls and LeBron leaving the Heat. I like all of this. It would be more exciting during the season that's for sure.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 09:53 PM) Oh right, blame it on Spoelstra now. I didn't see you patting him on the back when they won two championships. Blame what? Huh?
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 09:55 PM) I'm not sure, I black them out like a bad night at the blackjack table Ballpark, how many?
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 09:50 PM) No, winning about 5 more games and feeling good about themselves and learning to win in general. I have no illusions about them winning anything important this year. It's a development year. These choke jobs are doing nothing to further those objectives. So Robin has directly lost only 5 games for them?
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 09:42 PM) I'm not worried about contention. I want to see a young team learn how to win together. Robin gets in the way of that. So winning some but also losing more? Kind of like what they are doing now? Because winning more than this and they are in contention.
-
QUOTE (TRU @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 09:40 PM) Youre so off base here its ridiculous. LeBron, Love, and Kyrie will have a better supporting cast than the heat had and they would get to the finals with ease. If its Wiggins, LeBron, and Kyrie I still would put them as favorites, but not auto. I agree. I also think their coach is quite a bit more skilled than Spoelstra.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 09:38 PM) Seriously dude, you're not exactly Mr Objective either. You suck on the teet because of whomever your "source" is. Lol. The manager has no bearing on that whatsoever. But seriously, this team is contending with Manny Acta.
-
This team with really only 4 or 5 good players including 2 pitchers only wins in spite of the manager, but ALWAYS loses because of him.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 09:32 PM) Because our manager does a lot more to f*** this team up then he does to help them win. Let's stop pretending he's Greg Poppovich. So you have nothing to say but negative stuff. Sweet.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 09:29 PM) He is not defending your position. He also doesn't post in any winners threads. So no credit when we win but non stop b****ing when we lose. Shocker.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 09:26 PM) Maybe you should stop defending ignorance unconditionally. It's called rational thoughts. Not the irrational bulls*** spewed in these threads. I hope the last two winners threads were full of full credit to the entire coaching staff.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 09:23 PM) He called for the reliever on the way to the mound I didn't see that. Either did stone. My bad then. I thought 109 pitches or whatever made sense but I also thought our bullpen could cut through the hapless Red Sox too. Also my bad.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 09:20 PM) No, that's a lack of any sense at all. If that's your argument, yank Chris after the guy reaches base. Don't let him retire the next two guys easily and then yank him inexplicably. No it's perfect sense. Gardy is despised in Minny right now. Does he suck? No. His team sucks. Second. What if Sale said he was done? Robin didn't signal until he talked to him.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 09:18 PM) I certainly would not have. This isn't rocket science, folks. He either horribly over manages or he pretends like he's asleep at the wheel. Pull a starter when he's no longer effective. Leave him in so long as he is. Don't bring in Eric Surkamp in to face Cano just because he's a lefty. Don't take out an effective Chris Sale to bring in a new pitcher against Pedroia just because he's a righty, especially with Papi looming. Yes you would have. Look at your post. He is wrong no matter what he does. Too many moves, bad. Not enough moves, bad. Guess what, this team isn't going anywhere and either is Robin. Might as well get another hobby if it makes you that angry. Go hit some balls instead, much better stress reliever.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 09:14 PM) Explain the common sense to the move tonight. I'd love to hear it. Common sense tonight, easy. Bullpen has a job to do, fails. On good teams, they don't. Managers for good teams are beloved. Managers for bad teams are blamed for players not doing their jobs. Common sense.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 09:10 PM) I'd have preferred to start the 9th up 4-0. You guys with the Robin Ventura posters on your ceilings can defend him all you want, but you'd also defend anything he did. He compounds this bulls*** with these non-sensical moves. But keep pretending like the s*** he does makes sense. Hahahaha. It's called common sense. But you guys keep changing the target game after game on what he does wrong. Left sale in too long. Put Putnam in instead of Jake and we lose, today asking why not Putnam. It's hilariously laughable. Want to know what lost the game? A terrible s***ty bullpen.
-
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 09:09 PM) Because Robin Lol. The guy everyone was clamoring for was put in and immediately gave up most of the lead. But yeah. It's the manager.
