  1. Man this game was just not meant to be. Get the next one and come home.
  2. Ah the Wilds new strategy is holding. Lots of holding.
  3. Is now a good time to send Leddy a message Q?
  4. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ May 6, 2014 -> 05:00 PM) They get more money by "building the brand" and drumming up excitement in these newer territories. The "more money part" doesn't have so much to do with tourney ticket revenue so much as it does B1G network TV subscriptions. Even if you're correct about attendance dwindling, this still makes financial sense. This is a long term play, and Jim Delaney is a very smart man. Besides, these arenas seat 20K; with 16 teams, that allots to 1.25K tickets per school. That's a pretty small percentage of fans and alums per school; so I disagree that "a lot" are going to be "upset." If so, they can wait their turn in the rotation (if it even goes to a rotation) for it to come back around. Media exposure+recruiting exposure is the goal.
  5. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 6, 2014 -> 02:44 PM) Oh yea, if it is only a year old and he already broke it in you are good. Its just an ounce heavier than the bats we have on my team. 26 ounces seems to be the preferred weight for the guys on my team. But the extra weight should be good if you want to try and jack a few bombs. And if you dont like it, you should look on softballfans and see if someone will trade with you. Boy those are light bats. I would roll everything over.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 6, 2014 -> 03:16 PM) Money? Using my estimates from before, which may even be high, 1% would mean he made $150k over 10 years. That's pretty bad for the amount of time/energy he puts into that place. And the control factor is fine, but it's still not very logical. If he sells the place he washes his hands of it, so it's not like his name will be tarnished. If he's going to just close up shop and never return, it makes zero sense. If he's closing up shop for a couple of years to try something new with the option of coming back, or maybe to entice more offers, then it makes sense. His place is revered by the food industry, even making lists of best restaurants in the country to visit. His name is on the front door. It makes sense to me that if he wants to do something else he would close up shop.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 6, 2014 -> 01:32 PM) The thing you are leaving out is it is hot dogs. No matter how good they are, you can only charge so much for them. Again, the margins are just tiny in this sort of a business. Even if his costs are small, so are the dollars he is bringing in. He isn't slinging $50 steaks. We are talking about $3 hot dogs. And handmade sausages. He probably makes the most profit on his fries.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 6, 2014 -> 01:01 PM) Yeah I posted this in the catch all thread. Why isn't he selling? Take that lump sum of millions and go retire on an island somewhere. I bet he doesnt want anything to taint the reputation he has built as people will flock to whatever new thing he dreams up.
  9. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 6, 2014 -> 12:13 PM) I've been happy with U-Verse internet. 24/mbs speed for $42/month after fees. I've been on a sweet retention deal for a year and actually just re-upped for another year at this price yesterday. And it's a legit 24, even at night. Depends how far you are from the hub. And 24 isnt fast enough for some people...
  10. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ May 5, 2014 -> 04:27 PM) Yes, the OS rosters are out. Yes, there are probably reviews of The Show '14 PS4 somewhere. And Gamestop wouldn't take my PS3 today because at somepoint someone dropped my PS3 and the bottom piece broke off, so it is currently held on with electrical tape. They said they can't take it if the shell is damaged, so I'm out of luck there. But on the plus side I got $60.10 for a PS3 controller ($10.50), MLB 14 the Show ($40), and MLB 13 The Show (9.60). For whatever reason I did not get charged tax, so I will get The Show '14 PS4 for free. So if I have a perfect PS3, what type of money do i get for it?
  11. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ May 6, 2014 -> 11:41 AM) Not sure if I'm being a cheapskate or not but RCN just raised the price of my Internet + TV combo to $89.99/month from $79.99. I am looking for a cheaper alternative. I have heard pretty brutal things about AT&T U Verse in the past, have they upped their game? UVerse has limitations that you need to understand before you buy it. #1 limitation, the signal is going across phone lines. Internet is DSL.
  12. I happen to really like DC though, great city to visit.
  13. Some people call him effective, others, well, wouldnt.
  14. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 6, 2014 -> 11:14 AM) It does. But at least with Netflix and HBO, your phone commands the Chromecast where to go and what to do. The Chromecast then independently connects to the internet and the Netflix/HBO servers. Maybe MLB's app is different, but I doubt it. If the issue is choppiness after the video has begun, it's an internet/chromecast issue, not an S4 issue. #1 fix, unplug everything and then plug it all back in.
  15. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 6, 2014 -> 10:46 AM) You can't stream from the phone. Chromecast doesn't work that way. It literally takes the link from the phone, goes to it and streams the video. So it doesnt have "airplay" features?
  16. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 6, 2014 -> 10:32 AM) Your router must not like your Chromecast or you got a faulty Chromecast. Like someone mentioned before, it has nothing to do with the WiFi on your Galaxy S4, your S4 is nothing but a remote and an initiator of the stream, whatever WiFi issues it may have doesn't affect how the video quality is on your Chromecast. I think he meant he is streaming FROM his phone to Chromcast, not simply streaming netflix using phone as the remote.
  17. QUOTE (Boogua @ May 5, 2014 -> 01:22 PM) I read he will help you guys with Elijah Thomas also. Solid pick up Yeah he and Russell are friends with Thomas apparently. And it looks like Mickey Mitchell is sticking. So all good.
  18. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ May 5, 2014 -> 12:21 PM) Man, I would hope so. Drafting a RB in the first is a fireable offense these days.
  19. lost out on Kennard but picked up the 47th ranked kid in the country as a replacement. Not bad.
  20. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 5, 2014 -> 09:41 AM) If the Habs make the Finals, you may have more total viewers in Canada than in the entire US. That's what I was trying to refer to, the large amount of Boston fans in the North East. Although their arrogance and loud volume probably leads to an over estimation as to the size of the fanbase. If you the Hawks advance and the Habs and Rangers that will be a killer ratings grabber. Hawks/Rangers would be pretty good. Of course lots has to happen.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 5, 2014 -> 09:33 AM) It was pretty disgusting honestly. For the price it cost to go to the game, it wasn't worth it. The minority of fans who were dedicated to being stupid made it unbearable to everyone else. We had season tickets in the bleachers one year and the Cubs/Sox game made us move them after that. There were knock down brawls that were disgusting, especially with children nearby.
  22. QUOTE (bmags @ May 5, 2014 -> 09:01 AM) I went to Sox Cubs last year for first time, mostly had only seen on TV. It was a terrible experience. Cubs fans just screaming at you for some reason, sox and cub fan trashtalking that was embarrassingly bad, and mostly just people so drunk they felt they could constantly invade your personal space. That said, I am kind of sad this is such an afterthought. From 00-06 there were so many good games in the series. I think it was probably 08 where it really started to taper off for me. The trash talk etc was much worse when both teams would good and the series was on the weekend. There were some super violent games in the stands back then.
  23. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 5, 2014 -> 07:59 AM) The presence of a Canadian team would actually hurt TV ratings in the US, especially if they eliminate a market like Boston. Boston isnt that large of a city but I'm sure they pull regional viewers as well.
