White Sox unlikely to pick up Peavy's option
RockRaines replied to justBLAZE's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 20, 2012 -> 12:52 PM) Yeah, there's a news flash. The other side of the coin is that I bet they are already talking about a short term deal to bring him back for 2-3 years for a smaller dollar amount. Seems like Jake likes it here, and we know the guy is faithful to where he wants to be. Thats the intel I have. Something more realistic based on his performance with the Sox under the current deal. Laced with performance incentives and bonuses. -
Big Brother fans: I was just discussing this last night, what kind of "all star" format would you want to see in the next season? I was thinking you could go a few ways: "First off" second chance season. Unite all the people who were the first people to get evicted and never got a chance to actually play "Good vs Evil" been done before in other reality shows. Dr Will, Dan, Danielle (season 2-7) etc vs Brendan, Jordan, Jeff etc How about battle of the seasons?

QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Sep 19, 2012 -> 06:30 PM) Also, don't believe Williams committed anywhere. He cut his list to UK and UNC, then opened it back up. He's a 6'8" Oladipo. Just a freak athlete. Reminds me of OSU players of past. Yeah I saw the list of his visits and was like WTF. I honestly have no idea who OSU is in on these days as visits and interest seemingly pop out of nowhere. I had Nunn on my radar and then he goes to ILL and we get Kam. Strange. -
QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 20, 2012 -> 05:42 AM) With how it played out, I'm fine with Ian winning over Dan. Ian pretty much did all of the 3 things to win. Be social, he loyal, and win some competitions. Danielle was stupid to the very end. Saying Ian taking Dan to the final 2 was cowardly. It was obviously the right move. Dan deserved it, but he is still the best to ever play the game.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 19, 2012 -> 09:58 PM) it was a Futurama quote. I'm seriously considering a foam roller. I NEED my calves to stop tightening up so much. Buy one, if only for your IT bands.

Review so far: Passbook could be a real money maker for vendors, what a cool idea. Other than that the look and feel of the menus is different and I havent explored much else yet. Oh s***. Dedicated bluetooth on/off option right in the setting instead of hidden under general. Thank you lord.

QUOTE (That funky motion @ Sep 19, 2012 -> 06:12 PM) The download and install button won't light up on my phone. I'm going to try thru my computer tonight. Are you on wifi? I connected to my mac because I back up to that instead of icloud.

QUOTE (That funky motion @ Sep 19, 2012 -> 06:01 PM) Anyone download the iOS 6 today? Me. At first it crashed and I had to restore my phone, but now I am furiously updating all my apps, 36 to be exact

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 19, 2012 -> 04:25 PM) It accomplishes what all trolling accomplishes, which is making asses out of the targets. The trolling wasnt my main focus really, it was that PSU fans and alumni keep saying that they arent upset because of football and that this whole ordeal wasnt about football yet they hold a rally with an old broken down football player and a cardboard cutout of JoePa.
-
Remember, its NOT about football

QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Sep 19, 2012 -> 03:23 PM) Good s*** today. That one boss battle was intense. The only problem I have with the game is there should be a loot system in place for rare items. Or at least a quick text dialogue saying "Go ahead and take that piece". I've never heard of this game but I am interested, did anyone give a rundown yet?

QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 18, 2012 -> 04:46 PM) Chicago-livers: How would you rate Sprint in terms of chicago coverage. I know we've asked this before but I couldn't find it on the googlesearch of soxtalk. I live in Logan Square, and have a great deal on AT&T. However, I never get service in my house, so I need to switch. I would be more inclined to Sprint, but if they don't have a good reputation then Verizon it is. Dont know but Verizon is very good. Tmobile was excellent in the past. In crowded areas the Verizon signal actually blocks the ATT one , which is why down here and in places like the United Center ATT sucks.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 19, 2012 -> 03:23 PM) Thank you, that makes more sense. Franco Harris speaking next to a cardboard cutout of Paterno seems...fairly unsurprising, like it could have happened somewhat normally, and there was no link for more information.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 19, 2012 -> 03:16 PM) Huh? What am I supposed to be seeing? Do you see the pic? Franco Harris speaking with a giant cardboard cutout of JoePa The Rally was started by a few fans including an OSU fan that was trolling PSU fans, they started a webpage and twitter account and got 2,000 people to show up to this rally only to be treated with PedoBear etc and lots of flaming. Kind of nerdy but hilarious at the same time.
-
So this picture was taken at a "Rally" last week, which was actually organized by an internet troll to see how the cult of PSU would respond. Franco (sideline jumper) Harris responded with this gem above, and showed that no matter what you think, the PSU community is THAT stupid.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 19, 2012 -> 02:32 PM) Brutal week. I just did my straight up confidence picks, ouch. You have to pick some road teams this week and maybe even an upset or two. Theres only a couple of us left in our pool after last weekend and I'm guessing most will load up on the Bears.
-
Tough Picks this week, alot of good teams going on the road, and injuries with teams like the Bears may take a toll. I took the Saints at home vs KC.

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Sep 18, 2012 -> 10:05 PM) I find Fall to be my least productive season for working out. With football on all day Saturday, Sunday, and on Monday nights, I typically never make it to the gym those days. Plus, I always go out of town a few times to see UT, so those weekends are a wash. Basically, I love the Fall because it's football season, but I also hate it b/c every year I go to the gym less than any other time of year... It doesn't help that I just pulled a 13 hr day and got home at 10pm either, so I'm a little more frustrated than normal about not getting to the gym today. I feel the same way, what I've been doing is plan a very basic workout to just "get in" at the gym (mine is not staffed on weekends so im alone) and then see how you feel. More often than not I actually end up doing more. If your gym has TV's I generally watch the OSU game then watch the late afternoon ones at the gym for an hour or so. Sometimes just getting your ass out of bed and going to the gym makes all the difference. Get a sweat going.

Ah yes, now I remember that guy. Williams was the one I thought was UNC bound. -

QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Sep 19, 2012 -> 06:24 AM) Martin is recruiting well. Lots of commitments of late. About a month off from Midnight Madness' all around. Hoosier Hysteria will host quite a few visitors, including BeeJay Anya and likely Troy Williams. Looks to be another top class for Indiana. Eventually you are going to have to not take a class with this many kids. And I had not heard those guys were IU leans at all, was this a new development. -
QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 18, 2012 -> 10:15 AM) No, I was talking about the kicker missing the winning field goal. That is precisely how you lose in survivor pools. Stupid crap like that happening is how good teams lose to bad teams and how you lose in survivor pools. If it was as simple as you make it seem, there would be half the participants still around when the season ends. Trust me, people have been playing survivor pools since before you were born. s*** happens, and that is how you lose. If it was as easy as mapping your picks out and picking teams that should never lose, than we would all be making a living off of survivor pools. Mapping out picks is terrible, and never works. You are picking against yourself there. I take the season and look at it backwards, categorize them with playoff home teams vs bad road teams etc. Then eliminate the picks down to a few per week from that pool I make my pick. I've won a few large pools like this. I categorize them by risk and pick from a subset every week because things like injuries, sitting guys for playoffs etc happen when you didnt plan on it. Alot of people saved the Bears last year then Cutler went out and you were f***ed.

I guess since you guys got Nunn, Matta went out and got a verbal from Kameron Williams. -
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 18, 2012 -> 12:00 AM) After waking up this morning from a bunch of working out yesterday: The spirit is willing, but the flesh is spongy and bruised. Just weakness leaving your body bro, keep at it. Stretch a TON, roll if you have a foam roller and stretch some more.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 17, 2012 -> 05:45 PM) My softball team takes offense to that comment My coed team does too. But seriously, where will we hide the fat guy that cant really run? Well we already have one fat guy at 1B, lets put him at third!! Do we have a SS? Not really, but the 2B is already walking in concrete so lets put that guy there since he has nowhere else to go.
