QUOTE (mr_genius @ Aug 31, 2012 -> 10:41 AM) The problem is, to expand their pay and benefits requires taking money from middle class workers and stealing their hard-earned wages. Just taxing 'rich people more' isn't going to fix it. Last I checked Chicago teachers were demanding 50% pay raise. They can f*** off. Where was that from?

Armando Allen looked pretty good to me catching passes, he would be good for a team like the Packers. Surprised at the Clutts cut.

QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 10:44 PM) Ian is the HOH. I'd love to see a BB All-Stars with Dr Will Mike Boogie Dan Evel Dick Memphis Hayden Enzo Rachel Frank Jordan Jeff Natalie Porsche Britney Brendan Danielle Donato Janelle f*** Ian, he's a complete douchebag. Second, half of those on your list have already been on the show twice or on an all star season. I think they good vs evil thing is actually more of a reality than just a pure all stars.

So how bout my man Sanzenbacher? Hope he makes it and get a shot to at least show he can play WR at this level.

I'm still waiting for Romney's actual plan to better the economy. Believe in America, aka taking Obama's slogan from 2008 and adding words isnt enough for me, I need actual facts. At least the Godfather of Pizza had an actual though terrible plan before the PAC's outed his secrets. Also, I just hate party politics, I feel that Obama as well as other first term presidents spend too much time plodding forward with their party's agendas in anticipation of the reelection campaign. This is why I think the second term is so much more indicative of who the president actually is. I see Romney bringing a VP with him who really doesnt believe in much that he is trying to do just because his party wanted to appease a certain population. I f***ing hate that concept.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Aug 31, 2012 -> 12:01 AM) So Vandy almost beat a top 10 team? Wow the SEC is so good. (Ignores that South Carolina looked bad) That's how this SEC thing works right? SC looked like garbage. Defensively they are athletic but undisciplined and the play calling was suspect. I thought Lattimore looked good, but I was worried when he reached down for his knee a few times, maybe thats why they decided not to run him more? If he's 100% like they claim there was literally no reason to ever throw the ball and they probably blow Vandy out. -
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 31, 2012 -> 08:14 AM) The Afghanistan part was just baffling. Not as baffling as lecturing an empty chair, but still baffling. He seems to think that Obama time-traveled to 2001 as President and decided to invade Afghanistan. And he thinks Romney wants to bring the troops home "tomorrow morning" instead of at some pre-determined date in the future. Didn't anyone vet this speech to see if it made any god damned sense at all? He was hitting on points that were the direct opposite of Romney's policies. Maybe Ryan got in his ear before the speech and told him his views? It was puzzling at best. The whole bailout thing is laughable to me. You literally have a guy whose company apparently took a bailout standing behind you.
-
And btw whose idea was it to have Clint Eastwood give a speech? One of his key points was the war in Afghanistan and yet he apparently has no idea his candidate wants to stay there longer. Second he did an ad for Chrysler, a bailed out auto manufacturer that has actually been a success story, then condemned the bailout while giving a speech for a guy who TOOK a bailout.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 06:01 PM) He is saying Obama said he would keep the plant open and he didn't. Ryan didn't ay it would have been a good thing if he used stimulus to keep it open, or any such thing. And it doesn't matter what you infer. Just that Obama broke a promise. And you can cry about 'effective' dates all you want, factually it closed in 2009, under Obama, after he said he would keep it open for 100 years. Same with the debt commission. It doesn't matter how Ryan voted, Obama set up this commission then ignored everything they said. Defend it with a reason WHY he let the plant close or WHY he ignored the commission, not your old 'well they did it too' argument. Whoa wait a minute. He said if he had his way it would stay open, of course he is t the CEO of the company that had to shut it down because of his predecessor's economic collapse.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 04:49 PM) Rock, That is just not right. http://www.ssa.gov/pubs/10026.html#a0=0 http://www.ssa.gov/ssi/text-child-ussi.htm http://www.illinoislegalaid.org/index.cfm?...p;contentID=240 The only reason Im putting all this information in is because the hope would be that you could help people get these benefits, because they are potentially available. And thanks for the link, Ill pass the word around to people. You still posted it saying younger than 18. Trust me as soon as these kids graduate from HS or hit 18-22 they are off any benefits entirely. They are basically left out to dry. I've seen families petition pretty much everyone available to no avail. And I personally dont think its the federal govnt that needs to help, I actually put more onus on the state level IMO. Either way its been mine and several others missions around chicago to contribute however we can to these families and especially the kids. Personally I think some of the benefits that others get from the gov are way less necessary.

My only lock right now is USC not covering but those are some great points. -
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 04:29 PM) The main reason under 18 doesnt qualify is they take the families income into account. That being said there is a tremendous economic burden on families of special need children. I am not suggesting that the govt should help them, I am more suggesting that the current set up may not be beneficial for anyone. There really is no good answer besides for giving them more money to survive. I guess that is where my problem is, I have no issue giving them money to survive, I just think its somewhat wasteful to spend so much money pretending that isnt what is going to happen. You read it wrong, they dont qualify when they are over 18 or sometimes the hard cutoff is as late as 22 depending on their disability. As soon as they graduate from high school they are completely cut off. Illinois is also one of the few states that cuts them off as well. Its a terrible burden on the families and a source of ridiculous financial and emotional hardship. Heres a link to the organization that is near and dear to my heart. http://www.opportunityknocksnow.org/index.php

QUOTE (IowanSoxFan @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 04:20 PM) As an Iowa State fan, I'm really surprised that Tulsa is favored on the road by 1.5. Tulsa may be good, but I really don't think they're going on the road and beating ISU in their opener. interesting -
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 04:08 PM) Okay I thought you were saying when they turn 18 they werent eligible for anything. Im pretty sure they are eligible as kids as well (I dont deal with that so not 100%), but it would depend on how much they make. http://www.ssa.gov/pubs/10026.html Just looked it up, that does appear to be the rule. (edit) And Im making no commentary on whether or not this money is enough to survive. That is an entirely different subject. Im for social benefits, so Id be fine with them being given more money to live (different than paying money for school, at least in my opinion). Under 18 or over 65 is the general rule. Which of course, they dont qualify for, just like in illinois where they get cut off. It's the main reason my friend started this charity years ago because his brother was special needs and was basically being thrown to the wolves after he graduated High School. I have had parents come up to me and say they dreaded HS graduation more than when they were shipped off to war.
-
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 04:03 PM) Are they getting Supplemental Security Income from the federal govt? They dont qualify for that since they arent aged and disabled, they are kids.
-
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 03:54 PM) I know someone who is able to hold a full-time job because he was educated through high school. He will never live on his own, but he is a nice guy and not ostracized in public when attending weddings, family parties, etc. I also have a friend who teaches high school special ed. Treating them as human beings deserving of education the same as everyone else makes a huge difference. Lucky him, because here in illinois after a special needs person turns 18 they are essentially cut off from any government help. Its tragic. I volunteer for an organization that helps these kids socially and economically and it has been called a saving grace for their kids by every parent who has participated.

QUOTE (Real @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 02:08 PM) these guys need to look at themselves in the mirror if we lose this game, AJ should be first in line He called a horrible game today, just horrible. To the point I was wondering why he was pitching right to hitters tendencies -
QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 01:16 PM) Season 6 was awesome because the house was so divided and All Stars was probably the best because of Chill Town running things. i loved season 8 because of the twists and dick and dani

Seriously, AJP is having a terrible game behind the plate. Trying to bust guys in who only hit balls in, makes no sense. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 12:26 PM) This season of Big Brother has been one of the best I've ever watched. Eh, im on the fence. The vets have added too much experience to the game IMO and everyone is trying to make too many alliances.
