QUOTE (RZZZA @ Aug 9, 2012 -> 09:59 PM) Their depth seems a lot better than ours. But #99 looks good out there today anyway, as does #17 I thought he looked energetic but the Broncos ran the ball right over him again and again. He's clearly not an every down DE and like I said when they drafted him probably more of a pass rushing LB.

Slow pitch softball thread

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 9, 2012 -> 10:41 PM) Fun reading through this thread. I played 12" inch for a few years in my late 40's to 50 until RA forced me to retire. I miss it. I was a starting 1st baseman for our team. Our team went from sucky to pretty good over the 2 years I played. The infielders loved me because I'm so tall and I could pick those low throws in the dirt. Good thing about playing in California is you can play year round. The new composite type bats really amazed me. I could hit a ball farther at 50 with these bats than I could at 25. Surprised there hasn't been any posting in this thread for a while since it's gotta be softball season in Chicago now. Just finishing up summer leagues now. Went undefeated in a co-ed 16in league for the title, lost in the first round in another and 12 in is starting playoffs next week. I had an unassisted triple play a couple of weeks ago at SS, f***ing awesome. Right after I released my throw to 1st I just turned and ran to the bench without looking. -
QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Aug 8, 2012 -> 06:58 AM) Dont let Bulls fans that have never been to Miami fool you. Im not sure I saw one person doing this.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 9, 2012 -> 09:55 PM) Ya Boogie is awesome. He also helped dictate who went up to the podium in the HOH competition.

QUOTE (MEANS @ Aug 9, 2012 -> 03:08 PM) ugh I can't stand that smug prick... I hate seasons when they bring back past winners. I didn't want the coaches to join the game but I knew America would vote that way. Dan and Boogie already won, as soon as they were back in as players the others should have gone after them. These new players are so dumb. The girls become catty/paranoid of each other and think Janelle is a bigger threat than Dan or Boogie...GMAFB Go back and check out who won more competitions, Boogie+Dan or Janelle.

QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 9, 2012 -> 02:32 PM) Jenn and Asheley both floating. I think they'll be gone in the next few weeks though judging from what I'm reading about feeds. I see Ashley going but then the "alliance" turning on each other again. Britt and Danielle are uber paranoid and Shane is about as drama queenish as a guy can be.

Yeah, the bench isnt very important unless you have injuries. If we make the playoffs they wont see any time unless we make the WS. So no, not really.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 9, 2012 -> 01:51 PM) I don't like Janelle so I'm cool with her going away. I haven't watched as many seasons as you guys so I'm not familiar with Britney's mishaps before but I think she's cute as hell so I hope she stays around for a while. She lasted long in her season because she was a pawn. Thats it, thats all shes ever done.

QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Aug 9, 2012 -> 01:49 PM) I see Cam being in the top 3 of Qb's this season I assume you mean Newton, Rogers and Alex Smith as your top 3?

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Aug 9, 2012 -> 12:29 PM) Bears have 4 starting players on D that are over 30. The rest of the D is pretty young. The problem is that the 4 best players on defense are the older ones. I believe its 5 players. I also dont consider Peppers a guy who is slowed down with his age and Isreal will be rotated out quite a bit on passing downs. The secondary is young other than Peanut.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 9, 2012 -> 12:25 PM) Does Jay Cutler not get to take the field against the Panthers younger D? Its also in Chicago.

QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 9, 2012 -> 10:36 AM) I kinda feel bad for Janelle because she isn't sure she is going but vote will probably be like 8-1 or something. She sucks. Boogie was brilliant but made alot of sense. I loved how every group was trying to build and alliance. Lost in the shuffle is Jen who is floating along with no consequences. Also, Brittany needs to stop trying to run things, her and Danielle are two of the dumbest people in the house and Brit is one of the worst players ever.
-
QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Aug 9, 2012 -> 12:15 PM) I see Cam Newton having a great day against the Bears older D. When you refer to their "older" D, are you referring to one or two players or what?

The fact they continue to think that PSU is the "innocent" shows you how crazy they are in Happy Valley. Almost your entire leadership including the AD and the head coach who pretty much ran the school covered up crimes against children over decades, yet you are innocent.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 8, 2012 -> 02:14 PM) Even if they have very little, a lawsuit can still gum up the works. Many people may have forgotten, but Kevin Williams and Pat Williams basically were able to stall a suspension for, I believe, 2 years by putting it into a Federal Court. The only reason not to fight is to just put it behind them. Unlike the Williams, this isnt a fight where they can simply try and wait out the clock. I do not believe that is the same circumstance as a sports team's membership with the NCAA. They were essentially in a lawsuit against their employer.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 8, 2012 -> 12:58 AM) This really is troubling. With Penn State appealing, it's time for the NCAA to call them on it. Go ahead and hold a trial or hearing and give them much worse penalties. It's like this at all schools with powerhouse football or basketball programs. No fans will ever believe their school did anything wrong. Or if they did, and the coaches who did the wrong doing have left, they'll always use the argument you are penalizing people that did nothing wrong. They've already rejected it. The Freeh report is essentially the same as PSU "self reporting" violations and it was paid for and signed off by their leadership. There is no grounds of appeal for judgements based on a self report.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 04:33 PM) I enjoy watching Theo burn. Sveum took the job at the wrong time. He's going to be canned and go back to being just a coach.

I took a pay-cut to stop traveling and also to start at a company with a better comp plan after a year. However I left that too for much bigger money.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 8, 2012 -> 12:14 PM) Major choke job by the men, they gawn. Disappointed for the team, but happy one of the biggest dbags I ever played against lost. -
I like the Fins new coach better than pretty much every other coach on the program. I felt like he really related to his players in the correct fashion, and I also liked the pace of the practice he implemented.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 8, 2012 -> 11:07 AM) Chad Johnson is awesome on these shows. He just walked in the coaches staff meeting and asked for a chair, hilarious.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Aug 6, 2012 -> 10:47 PM) Awesome Rock, I guess RIU brand resorts are also up there from what I'm reading. Question everyone asks, but best month to go? In my line of work I can forget about any vacation between Thanksgiving and New Years, so I'm thinking first week of November. Should be cold enough here and hot enough there to catch a tan. I always go in May because its hot, cheap, and the resort is half full. The Riu's are sometimes pretty good, I know they differ between them because of the levels of their actual resorts. For example the palace is nice than the tequilia in Riviera Maya. I realyl rely alot on tripadvisor to give me feedback on them. I really found that the Mexican Riviera hotels that I've been to or seen seem to be a little more on the tamer side than lets say Jamaica. For whatever reason people vacationing down there have a different level of expectations of the resort, the service and the atmosphere. I also have yet to stay at one in Playa (the city) but have seen them and they are nice, I also like the town. For a more party atmosphere there are quite a few nice hotels in Cancun that arent s***ty college spring break type places and yet are very lively.

Seriously, why was KC the first place to get Google Fiber?

QUOTE (zenryan @ Aug 6, 2012 -> 05:16 PM) No, they didnt all agree on it. An Outside the Lines report that is either out or about to come out is stating that the BOT never had a vote and it was 2 BOT members who came and said the school accepts full responsibility on the finding. So that is what the NCAA used as the agreement to the Freeh Report. The BOT had a meeting the morning of the releasing of the Freeh Report. They didnt even have chance to read the report by the time 2 of the BOT members held the press conference. The info I saw was that the BOT legal counsel, the president, the chairman and 8 BOT members signed off on the findings and the punishments. And once again, they cannot appeal the NCAA sanctions, Emmert said as much. I dont foresee a federation judge placing an injunction on the NCAA penalties unless that judge is a Paterno. Also, once again, PSU is clearly only worried about the state of their football team.
-
QUOTE (zenryan @ Aug 6, 2012 -> 04:15 PM) I dont blame some of the BOT wanting to appeal. The NCAA told the President either death penalty for 4 years or the actual penalties and the acting President couldnt discuss it with anyone because if there is a leak then the possibility of a death penalty is back on the table. While I agree with the penalties that were levied, there still should be a process. They all agreed on it as well as their president and chairman. I dont see the point. PSU's very own investigation gave the NCAA all it needed to rule on their sanctions, that is all the process they required. The NCAA sent them a notice of investigation and PSU never responded to their allegations. PSU has proven time and time again they are just ridiculously stupid. How many of us on here have been through NCAA sanctions or the firing of a coach? And how many rioted?
